Eli the Computer Guy.. This video was uploaded back in 2011 and yet it came to use for me. I've just landed a desktop support position and have been hitting the books so I am prepared for anything. Thank you so much for the free lessons. Keep being you!
This man has given me the confident to go into networking without no trouble. I am no longer intimidated has I use to be. with Eli your IT life is possible. Big up man.
Seriously I saw that this video was about an hour long and I almost did not watch it because I am working and did not think I had the time. I am glad I did because this was soooo helpful in helping me understand domains, which prior to watching this video my understanding was blurry. Thanks for taking the time ti describe. I have to audit networks and understanding domains and their function helos a great deal. I just subscribed. Awesome video for beginners
i recently joined mcsa course and your video was very helpful to understand it. your teaching is very good. I appreciate your patience. keep it up. good job.
Eli, just would like to thank you for all of your kindness and dedication on sharing your, so vast, knowledge. I'm getting into the servers right now and trying out the samba server that became very much like you said, it may or may not work well with windows. If you have some good sources (easier to understand) about the subject or you have a video you already did or plan to do, please let us know it! Again, thank you so much for the simple language and easy to understand conceptual class!!!!
People may not realize how clear you speak. You enunciate everything to the point that I can double the speed of your video (x2 from settings) and still everything sound clear and normal :) I do this with other videos, I understand them but they do not sound natural. It's if you slowed your normal speech speed to half of your normal speed?
@Jackie O That wasn't my point. I am a native speaker. I was referring to a quality he has in his voice/delivery & I do not think he meant it to be so. Wow a reply after 4 years! This is science fiction ! :)
HI Eli, that's my 2nd video and as I am new to network issues and LInux it helps a lot when listening at work (whenever I can). great stuff! thanks for the tutorials. all the best!
Eli the Computer Guy -I just bought a Domain i have not done anything with it for a month since i bought it i do hear a Domain is important if one owns a business i don't i need help figuring out how to make a few bucks from renting the domain thanks.
what is the best solution if i have my domain siting on hardware infrastructure which is old and about to fail is vitalization the answer or i just need a new machine?
@Durd3n001 It's Windows 7 Professional... One of the pains of dealing with Microsoft is they change the names of their products with every edition... Basically you just need the "business" edition of the OS. (NT vs 98, XP Pro vs. XP Home, Vista Business vs. Home Premium, 7 Pro vs. Home Premium...)
Eli. I love your style, your knowledge of a myriad of subjects is astounding. However, I wish you would up the input volume for your microphone. We can always turn you down, but we cannot increase beyond a certain point. A LOT of us out here either have hearing loss and/or are listening with substantial ambient noise. Please increase the input volume for us. Thanks.
Wonderful overview...I think having an understanding of the concept is a great head start to understanding the technical elements that connect it all together so thanks for this...
I'm not sure if I'm completely sold on Tilex yet, but I definitely trust your grasp on all things IT! Next time I'm in the grocery store I'll check the shower stall cleaner out. Might be worth it!
Thanks ELI , the introduction was very helpfull, i guess will be lookin at a lot of your videos to have a better understanding of things i want to learn, well thanks again :)
Pretty sure the networking+ has been updated so you'll want to learn the newer stuff. Learning all the old 2003 stuff is still useful though as if you go into a company that uses the old systems, you'll know what you're doing. If you can get hold of VMWare Workstation and the server software, its good to setup domains etc in that and play. Set them up, break then, then work out how to fix them.
When you say that you need windows 7 business edition or ultimate edition to add a computer to your domain. Is business edition the same as proffesional edition? And thank you so much for making thees videos. Its helping me allot with my studies for my exam in IT network drifting. Having adhd and trouble concentrating while reading, watching your comprehensive easy to follow videos is a great addition to the books I am reading at the moment. A big thanks again Eli Ender Norway
fantastic job Eli will you be posting the next lessons on domains anytime soon. I found our presentations cristal clear, which is a first Thanks From England UK
37:23 Well, so ah.....you're still following me there. Ha! Ha! 😂😂 Wow! So much to learn about domains. Good thing you explained what they do. Good info. Thanks!
Hi Eli, Thanks for all the videos....They are really informative and easy to understand..............Do you by any chance have a video on Software defined storage.??
I am a CAD manager where I was advised by my IS manager that a second virtual server would be a central location for mapping custom drawings. I believe this is you-tube video is pointing out what she was describing. However a 2nd CAD manager just requires all of there users to download something that would map there CAD systems to a file. that would have a set of custom drawings. Th Is manager said that would not work for me. could you tell me what the 2nd CAD manager has set up? How hard is it to set something like this up, when I am using my domain users in Autodesk Vault? once you create a domain user can you change there domain name?
if im using a company windows tablet (surface) using a company domain is it possible to login to my hotmail with out it taking over the tablet, i tried once and after i added my personal account the company domain could not be found my boss had to completely remove my personal account
Hi Eli... Thank you very much for your videos! They've cleared up a lot of doubts in my activities as a Systems Administrator. One question though, when installing a second domain controller (& subsequent ones say third, fourth and even fifth domain controllers), in the T.C.P. / I.P. configuration, do I add that server's I.P. address as the primary D.N.S. or the I.P. of the first domain controller?

@@NeoCodingGod True. he enunciate clearly and the reason is that he speaks from chest level and not any higher.
@@aragon988 Please, what's the science behind speaking from chest level? I'm a budding linguist.
the BEST presenter I everrrrr see...… thank you.... and you are a very prof. teacher...…
I really like that you give examples for real world applications.
The best class on the DC ever!
Thanks for this very clear overview, well done! :)
I love those videos.... only wish there was a central place that says, what should be the next class. Amazing job Eli, ...
There is! It's called the play list.
it's not entirely in the correct order.
You are an amazing teacher....Thank you.
@algnadjib yes... that's one of the main purposes of a Domain.
you are the best teacher. thank you.
Certainly, a good demonstration. Thumbs up for giving a conceptual overview of the topic. Thx👍🏻👍🏻
Would just like to say that I have found this video alongside many of your others incredibly helpful. A very big thanks to you Eli.
@sanders555 Each server would be a Domain Controller or DC.
Thanks, Eli. This really clarified what I was supposed to learn in class today.
HI Eli, that's my 2nd video and as I am new to network issues and LInux it helps a lot when listening at work (whenever I can). great stuff! thanks for the tutorials. all the best!

Or even Windows 7 Enterprise edition. Windows 7 Pro can also connect to a domain but misses some features out like BITLOCKER etc.

how do you detect new OU's? Such as new mobile devices that join the network... by their mac address?
Papakap22 I assume when they try to log in with their credentials.
Hi Eli,
Thanks for all the videos....They are really informative and easy to understand..............Do you by any chance have a video on Software defined storage.??
Man you are good at what you do
After setting up the domain, is there anyway to recover the user bookmarks/passwords from the browser?
Thx2u, you make it easy to understand this stuff.
