I wondered at first "Why on earth are you using Windows XP as an example? This is 2019." Then I realised you made this in 2010. Proof that this learning is still relevant. Btw, your teaching skill is fantastic. Well done.
I know right I'm taking his classes while studying for CCNP and so many concepts are used in both classes really helps with a well rounded understanding of how stuff actually works!
Eli, I am back watching. Your training is addictive because it works. I haven't spent much time looking at the new videos, but I still have many of the previous videos to watch. Again as always, great job.
Great work elitheomputerguy........ u really rocks..... the way u explain is amazing. really appreciate ur efforts... keep up the good work and post more more videos.
On 11:00 sharing files by many users is not a real problem. Only users with Write permissions lock files! So, if only one Group has Write Permissions and others have only Read permissions, a realistic scenario, the group with Write permissions does whatever it wants with the files, including delete them, even when other groups are using those same files!
With SMB, If "person A" open the original... and "person B" gets the read only file. How can person B make any changes to the document? Would "read-only" not suggest that he has no write access?
Hello Eli. For the Domain Controller to act as a central place for security and permissions does the Domain Controller itself need to have software installed such as Active Directory?
Ultimately, what is this difference between SMB & Library? Surely they are one in the same? SMB notifies you that the original document is already open for editing, and so you create a read only document. However, when using the Library type it notifies you that the original has been "checked out"...so is the ultimate difference that you cannot open even a read only copy of the original?
What are 5 or 6 different ways to share files across an office network? What happens when one person can't access the files? Any windows specific troubleshooting tools for a network issue regarding file sharing? Thanks! :)
real time collaboration is useful for certain processes where each person have their own portion of the document to modify. It is used in the military for just this sort of thing. Imagine a T table where each participant 1 has the left side of the table and participant 2 has the right side of the document.
Good stuff here Eli. I have a question for you. My Macbook Pro is telling my that my start up disk is full. Can you tell me how I can delete files to make more room without me having to buy any software?
can BELLY logging from any computer to his account and use his home folder and files ? i mean does it matter from witch computer BELLY will access the network in a domain environment
Hi Eli. As always, excelent class to geting started. One question regarding the "types of file sharing": Do you know Microsoft Sharepoint? What kind of file sharing uses? Thanks
The server has 4 NICs and the second Hard Drive will not be local. The business is very small and very little data being stored and transmitted, but the data is still important. Your help is needed.
Thanks for all of your videos. I want to say one thing about this video. I don't know about the concept about realtimecollabration "in 2011", but I don't think real time collabration means what you said.
i have a Macbook and i am trying to share flies between my macs but I don't know why it is unavailable my file sharing Radio button? I can't click on it :(.
Dear Sir...i need your help!!! am trying to redirect a specific folder which will directly save file to my static ftp drive. and i need one feature! if, when ftp drive disconnected from pc no user will able to access file from that folder as the ftp connected all file to there same place.
Not exactly. In the current situation read-only means that someone is using the original file and is making changes to it. It's like your rights to modify the file are temporary taken away until that someone finishes his work with the file :)
real time colab good for audio i would think... is that doable...convo and music and stuff. live painting. oooh that would rule. multiple artists on a network .. i'd turn their caricatures into ballchinians. or ya know add to the awesomeness in my own way
