- In Part 31 of Slim's Cabin Fixer Upper, I try adding a roof to the new addition without any help. Wildlife close at hand and a scorching heat wave, finishing it before the rains came was getting unBEARABLE until a special visitor arrived!

The only thing wrong about this video is it ended. Loved it!!!
Slim, you never cease to amaze me. I have never seen a more determined, intelligent, hard-working man than you. My eyes were glued to the screen as I watched this video. I have to say, I was on the edge of my seat watching you struggle. You always come up with some ingenious way to get the job done. What an incredible man you are. Much respect. Absolutely phenomenal video. Please stay safe! I love your little cabin and everything you've done to it.
I put anti strike stickers on my windows. Living in the forest I had birds flying into my windows on a weekly basis. Broke my heart. That was over 2 years ago, and I haven't had one bird fly into my windows since. Thank goodness. 🐦
The firefly segment was unlike anything I have seen before. Also it must be real nice to have a yard covered in deer salad. Nothing wins their hearts quicker than a bowl of fresh greens. The addition looks well thought out and stout, not at all like those scenes in "The Unforgiven" where the sheriff is building his own house. You've really nailed this one!
I’m amazed how you manage to do all this work by yourself. It looks like you’re going to have a comfy cozy bedroom when you are done. With a great view too. ❤️
Clever, clever, clever! You are the epitome of figuring out how to do the impossible by yourself. Your cabin looks great, Slim!! You have done a marvelous job!! Can’t wait to see more!!! ❤❤❤
My hope is each one of us can realize what a blessing we have to live here on this amazing planet. I appreciate you slim for protecting the creatures we share it with.
I've been around for 65 years and I'm still fascinated by fireflies. I love those time-lapse photos that you shared with us. Beautiful!
I love fireflies, too. I only saw two this year. Hope they come back.
I love the fireflies too, I thought they were only located in the south of USA though, sure surprised me seeing them up in northern territories like Canada. Flish flash, well how about that, natures Christmas lights a glow, take a picture.
I've seen them in the Ottawa/Gatineau area as well as northern Manitoba.
Ohhh Slim.. I was TRYING to reach through the screen and help hold those boards for you. 😂 Well... the thought was there at least. 😊
Great Job.
i am thoroughly enjoying this cabin building series!
I appreciate your ingenuity when working alone.
Excellent videography, building, narration, wildlife and humor. Really enjoyed the build, going to add so much to the cabin. Hopefully the bird was ok. 🙂👍
Wow how special to have such a magnificent visitor.
Boy oh boy Slim, I wish I had
been able pitch in to help on the roof. I've done a few jobs like that over the years and have most of the tools necessary to make it easier. Throw them in my RAM and I'll be there. I'm in northern NB and at 73 I can still swing a hammer and climb ladders.
Great video😊
You're the most soft-spoken, hardcore guy I have ever seen. I enjoy every minute of it. Thanks.
Very impressive, Slim. And I loved the fireflies, deer, bear and birds!
Slim, the cabin is really looking great. Thank you for bringing us along on your cabin remodel journey. Your excitement and enthusiasm is infectious. Your hardwork and dedication towards this project is admirable. I hope that you continue to share your journeys, both big and small, with us for years to come.
I am glad that you use safety measures, Slim. It pays to be smart. The addition is really taking shape. Loved this episode.
As someone who has worked alone often. I admire your tenacity. Never quiting but instead figuring out a way to move forward. You can always get more improvements done , when you can save money on your projects. Thanks Slim , always enjoy. Oh, yea in Milton today...on the Blackwater. Avoiding all armadillos.
Slim slinging insanely heavy and difficult plywood around like it's nothing! Go Slim!!
I wanted to REACH THROUGH the camera and help you!! The trusses looked like fun - the outer walls, well I’d have been cussin up a storm🤬. But the fireflies, what a treat! And thanks for tending to that precious little bird💞.
Love your can-do attitude and tenacity.
You are doing a great job Slim! I love building and making things as much as I like watching, especially now that I'm 70.❣😅
The way you got the last board up on the roof was so clever!
What a great job you do! Slim!
It's a new Slim video. Yeah!!!!!!!!
Amazing all by yourself! Slim is amazing worker.
Slim, as a fellow Cabin in the Woods builder, you're an inspiration when I'm getting tired of the project.
Reason for NB code requiring nailed in gusset plates is that the pressed in ones have a VERY low fire resistance and pop out within minutes when heated causing early collapse.
Interesting. Thanks!
Great Job Slim. I'm glad you were able to cover your hard work from the rain.
Thanks for posting today Slim you always make me smile. I had to put my best friend down yesterday. It’s tough losing a pet and she was so beautiful.
Sorry to hear. I hope you enjoy those beautiful memories!
Our fur babies create such a hole in our heartstrings when they have to leave us…. So sorry for your loss.
I am so very sorry for your heartbreaking loss. My sweet little bird who was also my very best friend passed away unexpectedly last year, 2023, and completely shattered my heart. I am still mourning for her. I had her for 21 years, since she was 6 months old. She was highly intelligent and communicated verbally. I know how much it hurts to lose a pet that you love with all your heart. You have my deepest condolences. 😢
I am sorry for your loss...
Sorry for your loss .
You continue to amaze me, in what you are able to do "by yourself"! Love that you take time to enjoy the wildlife around you and that you share it with your viewers! Thanks Slim!
Boy you sure are a clever fella ' ! Where there's a will there's a way.Carefully and professionally. Even the bear was impressed. This cabin is a work of art, an unfolding flower of your life, challenges, and ,..all things Canadian.Looks great Slim I think the attention to detail, thinking of the worst case scenarios and gosh the darn luck has turned you into a fine builder .
Many happy, safe sleeps here.Peace
Phew! Good job, Slim. Thank you for the firefly show and the bear.
Whoa - you got that addition covered just in time. Everything looks very good Slim.
He probably wanted to “ bear” witness to the awesome job your doing 🫣
👍🏻👏🏻❤️ Very impressive Slim!! I really enjoyed this video and am l am so thankful you stayed safe. Very creative solutions!
Keep working in this heat and we will have to call you super slim. Keep hydrated.
Potato fry
😂😂😂😂
Working by yourself it is amazing the ingenious ideas one comes up to get the job done
Great video. Where there's a will there's a way. Adapt, improvise, overcome. Hope that young bear doesn't become a nuisance bear.
I loved chasing fireflies when I was little. Thanks for the memories. Neat progress on the addition. Stay cool!
Just judging by the wind storm out there I think those patch plates are good insurance. Thanks for all this effort slim.
Heads up to you Slim for doing this all alone. I long ago stopped trying to move 4x8 sheets of anything thicker than Luan.
You need some anti collision window decals for the birds. :)
PS; absolutely amazing what you accomplish on your own.
Greeting from East Texas!!!!! Wish I had a cabin like this in the woods. You are doing an amazing job adding this extension. I have enjoyed your videos for several years. Thank you for sharing your travels and building this wonderful cabin. Thanks!!!!!
Wow. And more wow. Incredible that you did this all by yourself. Putting the roof panels. With the ladder on the roof. Ingenious. Thank you for sharing. Your workmanship is amazing
Wow! That bear just casually walking around! Scary! Your cabin is really looking great, Slim. You’re doing a great job ❤
When I was a little girl living in Georgia, I loved when the firefly’s came out in the evening. I would put a few in a mason jar to enjoy them prior to letting them fly away into the night. I have never seen any here in South Florida.
Could you believe that the bear walked right by the cabin? 🐻
What a great build!
Those firefly trails!!! ❤ And your visitor at the end! Thanks for the video!
VERY good job Slim. Really well done, especially doing it yourself. Great video.
Very enjoyable, Slim. Thank you for entertaining us as you demonstrate your ability to solve problems and deal with tricky situations with your ingenuity. Thanks from London, UK,
Slim, get some of those window bird decals! Nice build, nice view! 👍😎🇨🇦
Great Video, I always enjoy your Cabin projects & of course learning about Nature with those Fireflies...
Your addition is really looking great, what a smart idea using rope to hoist the last piece of roof panel up. Cheers from P.E.I 😊
Slims hammer work would make a woodpecker jealous.
Your a 1 man army Slim. Very impressive !!!
Slim, your video was so very good! You are a Jack of All Trades! You deserve a well done! On the roof! Can’t say enough about all the nature you caught! 😊 You are so fortunate to have that cabin! It is a treasure! 😊 Peace!
Slim, I love the way the cabin is looking. Thank you for taking us along on the build.
Be well Slim. 😊💫
"A little tricky" never stops you, Slim! Great job and fun to watch. 🙂
Hello.
For the little birds, it is the reflection of the glass when seeing the sky that destabilizes them. Beautiful video as usual. Thank you. Good to you.
Great effort Slim and the wildlife breaks make for a very interesting and enjoyable video, thanks for sharing. 👍
Enjoying the building process great job and fast thing Slim👍
This is a great installment and good presentation
Lots of progress. Amazing what one person can do when they set their mind to it.
Your cabin remodel video''s have been my absolute favorite on your channel. Having said that, I also enjoy your traveling video's too. I'm hoping that one day this cabin will become a permanent home for you. I know in the last video you talked about certain things that have to happen, in order for this to become a permanent living space for you. That Black Bear was looking for Poo's stash of honey. I can tell he's a teen bear, because no adult bear is going to risk getting themselves shot within an human encampment.
The combination of your attention to detail, commitment, dedication and work ethic are in your favor. Great work Slim ! Appreciate the time and effort you but into your videos as well . Best kind! Cheers!
Slim, if you wait long enough, the fireflies lights will synchronize, flashing all at the same time. 😂
Slim your doing a great job. Give you alot of credit working alone.😊
Nice work! Thanks from Hells Canyon, Frank.
Hello Slim , thanks for the great upload. It was very interesting watching you build your extension. The fireflies brought back memories of visiting my sister in Ohio in 1980 when she lived there , had never seen anything like them having flown over from Liverpool England. The area looks amazing with all the wildlife. I look forward to your next video , well done so far, and it looks sturdy.
Everyone has already said what I was going to say. So I'll just say talented, very talented.
Another great documentation of canin progress. Thanks Slim.
That was so cool! Love to photos and video staring the fireflies!
My neighbor retired, and to make extra money, he started cutting down palm trees, pulling up stumps and trimming trees. He’s been doing it for about a year and a half two years. He went to do a tree and for whatever reason and I think it would be the first time ever, he chose to only use one harness around his waist. He cut the harness. He fell, airlifted to emergency hospital, never came off of ventilator. He was disconnected about a month ago. And he’s gone. He’s greatly missed.
You can be as careful as you can, but you can’t control everything, And your personal safety is never worth the risk.
We have had 110-115 temp for the last 2 weeks and it will last till next Saturday at least.
So sorry for your loss of your neighbor.
Took me a few days to watch this video, life gets in the way. Well done Sir.. enjoy all of your travel and cabin videos. Stay safe.
Wow, good job getting all that up there so quickly. I was always fascinated by the fireflies when I was a kid. We also called them lightning bugs.
I love that you make building so musical!
Wow that is looking very nice, make a perfect sitting room / edit room.
You're just so amazing, Slim! I'm extremely impressed. Great job!! 👍🌟
Really taking shape! Thanks for sharing your time and effort!
Love your videos & how creative you are. Stay safe! God Bless you ❤️
Slim, you are a champion!
I love the tone and tempo of this video!!! 😂 👏
Its gonna be a nice room and cozy this winter....thanks for letting us be there
glad the cabin extension is coming along fine, boy when it rains there is really rains
OUTSTANDING sir !! And your bear friend was very cool...I think she liked the progress...
Slim it looks great to me!! Heck I like the whole cabin!! Bravo Slim!!!
I am not a professional, carpenter by any stretch of the imagination, but I have built a few things.... That being said Slim I think you have done a wonderful job on this cabin!!!👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks Slim that was a super interesting video 👍
Really enjoyed thank you can’t wait for the next one
You have a special way of using odds and end to be your third hand and fourth great job 👏
Looking good Slim , don't over do it today in the heat. Stay hydrated. I wish I was there to help you
Awesome and inspiring !! 🙂 Love your videos and the bear ! How cool was that 🥰
Slim you are doing a great job. Interesting to see how you figure out building techniques for a solitary builder. Your bear was interesting to see. Apparently it is a very 'bear' season all across Canada. We have lived in our house here MB, for 12 years, never saw a bear. This year there has already been 2 who have decided to take up residence in our yard. 🐻
Very wonderful video as always. Please keep them coming. I really enjoy them.
Great episode, love that surprise appearance at the end!!
Thanks for the update, it's coming along nicely !
I always used to catch the lightning bugs as we called them as a kid. I got sore just watching you with all the hard work you're doing by yourself. It's coming along great, Slim! Be safe as always. 😊
Your doing an amazing job getting this job done on your own. Takes a great mind to figure out how to make this all work out.
You are amazing Slim. Really enjoy your films.
I'm beyond impressed. I can't believe you could pull that off all by yourself. Wow you are incredible.!!!!🥰
Slim, you are doing a fine job. As someone who has done this very build, I know it is a learning process and you have shown that you have the wherewithal to figure it out and get the job done!
