Cheers my dude, this was a really insightful and entertaining video. I am a frost mage main and I have found the spark of hope that you have found with the mage class with this knowledge. Thanks
Hey, Nogs! I subbed to you a few weeks ago and just wanted to say your format of producing videos and commentary is fantastic. I love the little one liner jokes in between the facts. It's a great format. I never really considered frost mage for BFA but being die hard arena fan since Burning Crusade - its seems daft that I've waited so long. I'm definitely going to spend some time playing with frost and I might even re roll! Keep up the awesome work, buddy!
Thanks James! while I just do this for fun, I loved watching Tailiesin & Evitels format and couldn't understand why more channels weren't doing this.. thought I'd give it a go whilst learning how to edit :)
You just got yourself a subscriber brother! Great video and very inspirational since I was struggling to decide weather I should go mage into bfa or not! Ty and keep up with your videos, I already love it :)
Really enjoyed your videos! Very relaxing to watch and participate in your feelings around different classes. I'm going into BFA with as a Warlock(any of the 3 specs) from an Unholy DK after maining Unholy since WotLK. Never been a caster main so it's gonna be a rough time for me getting started, especially in PvP, but it's a journey I'm going to savor.
I mained a warrior back in Vanilla, played a druid, rogue, lock etc I can't raid much and had to move to the EU servers but have a one stop shop with a mage is amazing.
Thanks for this vid man. I was exactly the same way with mage. Skeptical until i got my hands on the ptr and tested frost. Seems like the coolest spec in the game. No pun intended
MAGE FTW been a fan boy since the fall of 2004. !!! Long live the king and If you wait till your g-spike and then flurry procs at the same time cast G-spike then flurry wow! = railgun!
New sub! I hope to see this channel grow with interesting Mage content. I think you should eventually monetize if you feel you can keep up the quality.
i watched the video witch was great btw only to see that you have 1.2k subs? i thought that youre channel would have like 100-200k subs only because of the quality this video has keep it up mate ! I will main fire in bfa and not my trusted pali :)!
Why would you not monitize !!! Dude, you do good videos and even if it is a passion, why not make money with it ! The only person who's losing anything here is you. It's ridiculous to not monitize your content if you can ! That money can be invested in your real life goals and dreams. Don't waist your talent
This guy is right dude, You should monetise videos, Best video for mages i've seen and i have been looking at quite a few. Even if its just a passion for you, People are passionate about making games and stuff but still get paid for it. You should always try to get a job you love, if you love WoW why make money if you can?
There's me thinking I was fine playing Shaman again in Bfa. But ohhh no, mage is just this awesome and that awesome and pew pew pew more than elemental ever could. It's gonna have to be a mage pick this time around. Deep down I want arcane to rock the house, and even if it doesn't, sod it, I'll play it anyway.
really good video, you've done a hard work for it and its noticeable. I'm gonna keep an eye on this channel, and subscribe, hopefully you'll do some other high quality videos about other classes sorry im not a native english speaker
I'm stuck between Mage and DK deciding what I want to play in BFA. I played MMHunter up to Nighthold when it became a lot more dependent on multi-shot arcane shot over sidewinders then switched to DK, loved breath of sindragosa and it seems to be back to that former glory in 8.0, blood tank was always good for mythic+ as well. These past few months I have been playing enhancement but I don't wanna continue in BFA, not because I don't think the changes are good(like a lot of players) I'm just a little burned out on spamming Stormstrike and have never been a fan of Resto or elemental. So far in 8.0 I have played a lot of Fire mage and I really like it, arcane seems a little boring to me really not a fan of arcane explosion for aoe especially in Mythic+ where it's just suicide and Frost I haven't given a fair chance judging by this video as it looks like it could be very fun. choosing between going back to what I think is the most fun talent spec in the game Breath of Sindragosa for frost DK or going to a brave new world of Fire and Frost mages is really difficult for me. at the moment I think the DK edges just because how reliable Blood has been in any dungeon setting for so long, I say that but every time i log on 8.0 i load up my mage. Gonna play a lot of Frost mage after watching this video to see where I end up.
Nice! yeah blood will still be very strong in m+ you've got a good approach, giving the specs a go regardless of first impressions is more rewarding in the long run :)
liked and subbed, thanks for the info! I swapped to mage from a warlock and i was really scared because I never pushed progression as anything other than a lock. So im doing as much research and testing as possible, and this video helped a lot! I would like your opinion, do you think youll stick with one spec for raids? if so, which one and why? Thanks man
Did blizzard ever explain why they changed the animation of arcane familiar to a shitty ball instead of the awesome moving bolt of energy we had some time ago?
All jokes aside, I am a mage main as well. Definitely sticking with it through BFA. I dabble in shaman sometimes if I wanna heal or melee, and warlock if I wanna do pet stuff. But mage is my focus, with Frost being my favorite spec! Thanks for the great vid. :)
Yeah I was torn between mage and warlock. I went with lock but to this day Im not sure if it was good choice. I really miss shimmer on lock and portals. This two things are so good to have, also slow fall in BfA is very handy. Im not that much into arcane but love frost and fire is also fun to play with the pyro talent. Kinda too late now to change class tho.
I havent played since emerald nightmare and got invited to a progress guild as a new class Mage. fire looks awesome which horde race would benefit to push every last bit drop of damage?
Mate, I played Mage for over 10 years and got a bit... not bored, but a little over it. I was completely set on leaving it on the old realm and play something else as my second choice. You got me totally hooked on my old go-to pick again with this video alone :D BTW, considering the little time you been on youtube (is this your first channel?), hats off for the quality of the videos and the content. If this is "just" a hobby of yours - hot damn, thats awesome! Keep it up :)
Hey do you think it would be possible to switch between specs for aoe and st to keep things interesting? E. G. Aoe raid boss fights and aoe affixes play arcane and then single target play fire/frost? Reason i ask is i enjoyed doing this with rogue in wod (sub and combat) but I'm done with the rog.
I know many 11/11m raiders that constantly switch specs depending on the fight, and it's even more viable to do that now with the new azerite necklace! assuming your RL doesn't mind :)
Another great video. I really appreciate the thoroughness of your videos and all the extra videos and images you tie into whatever content you're talking about, awesome stuff. Have you thought about doing a class rank video for BFA, what you think will be the top 5 classes to play? Or maybe top 2 heals/dps/tank?
Thanks Jacob! I'm not sure if I'd make class rankings just yet. Whilst I play most specs, I mainly lean towards ranged dps. I feel I wouldn't be able to give informative information on some melee classes, and by the time I feel comfortable with them 8.1 will have hit :P
Destro's numbers right now are almost too strong, I see them receiving a bit of tuning before 8.1 But overall the warlock is a solid pick, as always :)
I am going ice mage even tho I'm complete garbage at it. My cousin plays ice dk so I wanted to be a cool ice mage. Having a higher skill ceiling to learn and get better at ice mage is what will keep the class fun.
I was always a Priest main, I love to heal ppl, but playing shadow as the only DPS option. (Which died in 2013) I'm done. Let's play a class that has 3 dps talents. One of them has to be good. And i guess mage is more interesting than Warlock.
mage since 2007. fire first, but frost since legion. i like the way they changed the frost mage and i think i will keep going with it to BfA. i am just not sure about the talents. i liked ebonbolt a lot, but i guess i need to go for the +20% procc chance? same with the aoe talent, playin with the frozen orb atm, maybe going for the dual target talent? i dont know ...
most likely not, but it really depends on how you are leveling. most will be solo doing big aoe pulls. But if your with a group you can run with no pet :)
Why would you not monetize? Can you tell me about the downsides of doing that? Great videos. Now i cant decide should i play my shaman or my mage. Both seem awesome.
Money ruins everything ;) monetizing a growing channel stunts the growth, I don't watch ads and I'd prefer it if others didn't have to also. Level both! see what you like more once you've tried the dungeons :)
Never say never. Think of that passive income :). If it turns out people like your content you could turn it into more than a hobby. I think most people who actually hate ads have adblock or premium. Also alot of creators who get demonetized or want to boost revenue use patreon. Thanks for answering my comment! Good luck with the channel.
I went Hunter yolo. Im actually topping boards in the early dungeons, hit 114 and called it for the night. first night bfa im not impressed but im not dissatisfied. just happy to be playing again.
I think the dev's would be crazy not to address the maelstrom issue, as well as buff some of the defensive's a bit (instant ghost wolf stacks etc) but apart from that the spec plays very well :)
I offically switched to mage on tuesday. I was a Ele sham for 6 years and I'm tired of being an on going meme. I am enjoying mage a lot. I always loved fire but I'm afraid fire will be shit for the first raid.
I am still having a hard time picking a main and I hope maybe you can help. I know I was saying about hpals and stuff but tbh it does not fit for me because I dont want to have to play alli for the iron dwarf and to seperate time away from other characters. It all comes down between the mage, death knight, and shaman for me. I really do love the new concept of resto shaman and how they can spot heal very well. I am also pleased by death knights in BfA with unholy being an absolute monster and blood guaranteeing me faster q times. However, I am truly tired of these type of dps players who don't understand their class to their fullest potential and overall play toxicly between switching pugs after wiping the raid and their insultive behaviors. I'd prefer to just play the mage like you to the fullest potential with the nice reset button we have, and benefits me because I am a returning player. I feel as though if I start BfA strong with a mage and stay consistent I will always be heavily favored by the community as everyone loves a geared dps. Maybe I should alt the resto shaman/blood dk for fun opportunities to play tank and heals? What do you think? I am struggling to find that one class I want to push 12 hours of raiding with per week!
I think the mage is a really solid choice! what I will be doing is taking 2 alts with me (shaman/ druid) to 120 in the first three months and keeping them up to date in normal/ heroic raid gear just in case. But I understand not everyone has the amount of free time to play the game as I do! my suggestion would be to try them all out as much as possible in 8.0 and rate them based off the different content you do most often :)
Should I do the same with my death knight and boost that redgyrados resto shaman mag'hor + the mage? I do have tons of time and I think picking one of the three will be good as well as what guilds are currently looking for
I will always play the best spec, usually updated regularly on the mage discord found below :) docs.google.com/document/d/18CmCX5umT7HThbPWWz2avgS9ugD-UIGW9-D9UT6s9eA/edit
I am honestly not sure what I want to play in BfA. During Legion I played multiple classes because I needed a lot of variety.. and because I simply did not like playing my old mains (Hunter/Paladin) anymore. For BfA I'm currently thinking to play a warrior and a mage so I have one fun range spec and one fun melee spec. I would have to level both to 110 though.. which could take a while. They are currently 32/49 D:
Not as much as legion! there might be some really unlucky chains of frostbolt. The worst one I got I showed in the video, 4 in a row BUT I had glacial spike up so that's when you would sub in ebonbolt so you can glacial shatter flurry when those bag rng moments hit. But trust me it's a huge improvement on legion, and the hardcasted flurry procs are absolutely delicious :)
Fire sucked balls so mach in the Burning Throne. Frost was my absolute favourite. At the Legion beginning fire was so cool. But I guess everyone should enjoy the game until it's not high end :)
with the new crit stats it's very rare to chain two back to back fireball crits, sometimes you just have to spam fireball while waiting for enhance pyrotechnics to kick in so you can clip them more frequently with a fire blast. also It feels clunky to use PF outside of combustion window, but all this is just "feel and flow" nothing related to numbers :)
Interesting. I haven't played in a year, but I still find myself curious about how things are going, and Mage was my main so I wondered if I had missed something incredibly game changing about Mage itself, not just the number squish.
nothing major just a few little things that make a big overall quality of life change :) since you played there is much less emphasis on rotations and spinning plates and more about mechanics and reacting :)
Brooo this video is clean asf, super well explained, funny, everything! You ve got yourself a new sub :)
Cheers my dude, this was a really insightful and entertaining video. I am a frost mage main and I have found the spark of hope that you have found with the mage class with this knowledge. Thanks
Hands down best WoW video I have seen lately. You got a sub!
Great video man, I've also decided to main my mage. I'm having an arcane blast with him in BFA so far! :)
Hey, Nogs! I subbed to you a few weeks ago and just wanted to say your format of producing videos and commentary is fantastic. I love the little one liner jokes in between the facts. Been a long time Frost mage player. I'm so glad you made this video, finally some exposure to this great class!
Was on edge between lock and frost mage. I'm sold on your video. I appreciate it.
Sincerely,
New Scriber
Your welcome! hope you get a chance to try the other mage specs in your free time as well :)
Once again mate, great detail and well thought out vid!! Looking forward to watching more vids come BFA!
You just got yourself a subscriber brother! Great video and very inspirational since I was struggling to decide weather I should go mage into bfa or not!
Ty and keep up with your videos, I already love it :)
This really helped me choose my spec for BFA...Thanks for all the info :)
Thanks for the video! Your positivity had made my day and inspired me to look forward for BFA!
That's awesome Nemo! should be a fun xpac :)
Keep up the great work. A positive attitude is needed in this community.
How do you have so little subscribers? This is exactly the content I've been looking for, great work!
Thanks, i'll be playing my mage in bfa. Looking forward to it and all of it's specs.
For me mage has not been my class but this video made me wanna try it out again. Great video and here good sir, have a new sub =D
You won't be disappointed with warlock! It's easier going from melee to range ;)
Very nice and coherent video, great job. Mage since 2005.
Fire is 100% my favorite as well, it just feels right.
I mained a warrior back in Vanilla, played a druid, rogue, lock etc I can't raid much and had to move to the EU servers but have a one stop shop with a mage is amazing.
nice video man. I was intrigued from the beginning
"titanic sinking abilities" - the animation made my day:D
Good stuff mate! I switched from DK to mage this time around, subbed.
i was thinking of lvling a DK why u change?
Thanks for this vid man. I was exactly the same way with mage. Skeptical until i got my hands on the ptr and tested frost. Seems like the coolest spec in the game. No pun intended
Got a free boost to 110 for months now but know what to use it on for BFA . Great video thank you !
Going from ele to mage, really looking forward to it :D
I really like your vids, dude keep em up :D
i watched the video witch was great btw only to see that you have 1.2k subs? i thought that youre channel would have like 100-200k subs only because of the quality this video has keep it up mate !
I will main fire in bfa and not my trusted pali :)!
i have always loved frost but this is just amazing
Awesome video! I have decided, I'm creating three mages now, one for each spec! haha :D
Always end up going back to my mage no matter what I get to max level. Can't beat the biscuits and the portals =)
I love wow rerolling as Frost mage once I move out on January 16
mage is the most well rounded caster. every time i try and play another caster i always come right back to the mage
been a mage since vanilla beta and have never rerolled from one
that's commitment!
Just as good as your shaman video. Subbing now
Quality Video, instant sub.
Why would you not monitize !!! Dude, you do good videos and even if it is a passion, why not make money with it ! The only person who's losing anything here is you. It's ridiculous to not monitize your content if you can ! That money can be invested in your real life goals and dreams. Don't waist your talent
thanks mate! but It's just practice, hopefully it can help people new to the game or unsure with their class :)
This guy is right dude, You should monetise videos, Best video for mages i've seen and i have been looking at quite a few. Even if its just a passion for you, People are passionate about making games and stuff but still get paid for it. You should always try to get a job you love, if you love WoW why make money if you can?
He need to meet some requirements to get monetized. i don't Think that he dont want to, more that he is yet unable to
I think he is able to with 2,9k subs
New to retail WoW, so thanks very much for this video! Is that the frost mage spec you use? It shows up when you are discussing the frost mage.
Earned a new sub mate!! Good video
I’m re-rolling from mistweaver to mage. Really enjoy fire, but frost is fun too :)
very nice! you wont miss being a healbot ?
There's me thinking I was fine playing Shaman again in Bfa. But ohhh no, mage is just this awesome and that awesome and pew pew pew more than elemental ever could. It's gonna have to be a mage pick this time around.
Deep down I want arcane to rock the house, and even if it doesn't, sod it, I'll play it anyway.
I was thinking of playing a mage too because of their insane utility as frost in mythic+ keys!
Blizzard is the new warlock slow ring ;)
Nobody takes frost mage at higher level keys. Frost AOE is absolutly garbage.
I'm talking about bfa not legion
Great vid!
This made me want pick up on my mage again. Want to hear your thoughts on Warlocks.
Amazing video keep it up
You change my mind from frost dk to frost mage
really good video, you've done a hard work for it and its noticeable. I'm gonna keep an eye on this channel, and subscribe, hopefully you'll do some other high quality videos about other classes
sorry im not a native english speaker
great video. i keep my mage
I reached a different conclusion on the Mage from my time in Beta. Nowhere near as exciting. Going Warlock for BfA.
More videos please !! From your #1 fan 🥰😘❤️
I'm stuck between Mage and DK deciding what I want to play in BFA. I played MMHunter up to Nighthold when it became a lot more dependent on multi-shot arcane shot over sidewinders then switched to DK, loved breath of sindragosa and it seems to be back to that former glory in 8.0, blood tank was always good for mythic+ as well. choosing between going back to what I think is the most fun talent spec in the game Breath of Sindragosa for frost DK or going to a brave new world of Fire and Frost mages is really difficult for me.
at the moment I think the DK edges just because how reliable Blood has been in any dungeon setting for so long, I say that but every time i log on 8.0 i load up my mage. Gonna play a lot of Frost mage after watching this video to see where I end up.
Nice! yeah blood will still be very strong in m+ you've got a good approach, giving the specs a go regardless of first impressions is more rewarding in the long run :)
I feel the rotation is way smoother with flame on than PF, that extra charge and 2 sec cooldown reduction is golden
I agree, maybe once we get higher crit we can go back to PF. PF will be king in 5mans imo
liked and subbed, thanks for the info! I swapped to mage from a warlock and i was really scared because I never pushed progression as anything other than a lock. So im doing as much research and testing as possible, and this video helped a lot! I would like your opinion, do you think youll stick with one spec for raids? if so, which one and why? Thanks man
I'd say frost is looking strong for now, but still a few weeks of numbers tuning yet! the best spec to play is the one you like the most :)
True, thank you!
Did blizzard ever explain why they changed the animation of arcane familiar to a shitty ball instead of the awesome moving bolt of energy we had some time ago?
This was really helpful cheers
“You will have a blast” 😏 I see what you did there
All jokes aside, I am a mage main as well. Definitely sticking with it through BFA. I dabble in shaman sometimes if I wanna heal or melee, and warlock if I wanna do pet stuff. But mage is my focus, with Frost being my favorite spec! Thanks for the great vid. :)

I havent played since emerald nightmare and got invited to a progress guild as a new class Mage. fire looks awesome which horde race would benefit to push every last bit drop of damage?
I hope someone would correct me if I'm wrong but raiding = troll berserk, M+ = belf dispel :)
Switched from warrior to hunter as i want to try the revamped speccs, also nice to have the option to switch between melee and ranged
BM looking strong utility wise right now :)
Indeed, and i heard it was a boring spec, but after playing with it, its actually quite fun!
gotta level up my mage now ;D
Hey do you think it would be possible to switch between specs for aoe and st to keep things interesting? E. G. Aoe raid boss fights and aoe affixes play arcane and then single target play fire/frost?

NOGS thanks mate that's a good point about the necklace
i’ve always had a mage but always got bored of frost with not good enough damage . and i always get kicked out of raid lfg’s. but i love it tho
hey question can you help me raid ? i just want the fucking bird mount from argus and i don’t have friends
I think my main caster is going to be fire mage, used to play arcane but not sure what i think about these updates
I feel I wouldn't be able to give informative information on some melee classes, and by the time I feel comfortable with them 8.1 will have hit :P
you should least do a range dps Opinion guide.
I'm thinking about it, I would have to learn warlock/ hunter asap ;)
yeah but u can do based ont he character u had play do u ranking. if u only play ranged then do a rank of all the toons, and great video btw
Nice vid bro ! I think warlock destruction or affliction will top mage in pve. What is your take? Thanks bud
Destro's numbers right now are almost too strong, I see them receiving a bit of tuning before 8.1 But overall the warlock is a solid pick, as always :)
excellent content
Great video
Great video mate, what server do you play on?
Horde- Dreadmaul (OCE) :)
I am going ice mage even tho I'm complete garbage at it. My cousin plays ice dk so I wanted to be a cool ice mage. Having a higher skill ceiling to learn and get better at ice mage is what will keep the class fun.
You've got the right approach! getting better= more fun in the long run :)

mage since 2007. fire first, but frost since legion. i like the way they changed the frost mage and i think i will keep going with it to BfA.
i am just not sure about the talents. i liked ebonbolt a lot, but i guess i need to go for the +20% procc chance? same with the aoe talent, playin with the frozen orb atm, maybe going for the dual target talent? i dont know ...
the numbers are very close so unless your pushing top 5% you can play whatever feels the best to you :)
Still a little stuck between maining mage or rogue. This video did help a little bit though. Thanks
Damn, whats the Fire transmog you have?
not sure tbh >< I think just ABT 4set and dragon leggo head maybe
Cheers m8, I found it when looking all over Wowhead :)
mage is always gonna be the fotm OP cheese class
Could you tell me the masteries surrounding ebon bolt? What’s the best masteries to use for frost surrounding ebon bolt
There's some stat weights floating around but INT is king for the first tier, secondary's have very much been reduced in bfa.
while lvling is the lonely winter the talent to play with?
most likely not, but it really depends on how you are leveling. most will be solo doing big aoe pulls. But if your with a group you can run with no pet :)
Why would you not monetize? Can you tell me about the downsides of doing that? Great videos. Now i cant decide should i play my shaman or my mage. Both seem awesome.

Nice Jeff! what spec do you prefer BM or MM?
I havnt actually spec swapped yet because ive been enjoying the game so much.
That's awesome! I really want to try one, they bring so much to m+ :)
I switched to mage from Ele, and I couldnt be happier
lol same here. Arcane is the shit!
ele is broke ... thx blizz
Haha, just done the same, though i had to start from 1
shame on u
LuL eleshamy was msot complex rdd spec.
I'm currently leveling a nightborne mage. I'm going to switch to ELSA speck.
What do you reckon the enhance shaman rework will be in 8.1?
I think the dev's would be crazy not to address the maelstrom issue, as well as buff some of the defensive's a bit (instant ghost wolf stacks etc) but apart from that the spec plays very well :)
I main an unholy death knight but I have always enjoyed mages.
I’m rerolling as a mage
I offically switched to mage on tuesday. I was a Ele sham for 6 years and I'm tired of being an on going meme. I am enjoying mage a lot. I always loved fire but I'm afraid fire will be shit for the first raid.
the numbers for fire is there! just not so much the crits early xpac, ele is still an awesome spec imo both good choices :)
Going from enhance to frost mage.
Getting azerite traits to do stuff you already could in legion. Genius
They want the game to be more accessible, but still have a little bit of min maxing !
I am still having a hard time picking a main and I hope maybe you can help. I know I was saying about hpals and stuff but tbh it does not fit for me because I dont want to have to play alli for the iron dwarf and to seperate time away from other characters.

I do have tons of time and I think picking one of the three will be good as well as what guilds are currently looking for
That's what I'd personally do, humans love to change their mind. At least then when it happens you'll be prepared!
So which talents did you choose?
Nice! yeah that's the best idea imo take a few classes to max level keep them both relevant in case you just gel with one more down the track :)
Is mage still going to rely heavily on rng? I hate casting 10+frost bolts in a row (sometimes) before getting a proc.
Awesome. Look forward to play frost then. Thanks for the fast reply.
Which one is your favorite spec?
frost by far :)
this is why hate this monetizing scheme of youtube content like this brings them money, you as the creator should benefit from that.
can we have the tmw/wa strings please mate, love your videos, keep it up brother!
if you could go through your SUF settings even if it's just for a second so i can copy them that would be sick too. Hoping for a ui video!
It's coming soon! is there any particular string you would like at the moment?
All your frost and fire wa/tmw strings but i can just wait for the video mate, that would be a lot of effort. BFA is 3 weeks away so no rush! :D
should be out very soon! just waiting for some addons to be updated :)

your content is better than half of the people posting wow content so just monetise it, earn money from your work mate
Fire sucked balls so mach in the Burning Throne. Frost was my absolute favourite. At the Legion beginning fire was so cool. But I guess everyone should enjoy the game until it's not high end :)
I'm just curious so please don't jump on me, but how tf would Phoenix Flames be less important with lower overall character crit rating?
with the new crit stats it's very rare to chain two back to back fireball crits, sometimes you just have to spam fireball while waiting for enhance pyrotechnics to kick in so you can clip them more frequently with a fire blast. also It feels clunky to use PF outside of combustion window, but all this is just "feel and flow" nothing related to numbers :)
After a lot of thinking I'm switching from boomy to frost mage. Not even joking lol
Arcane rock!
