What setting does each team rider have their hubs set at, would make a very interesting video. I’m sure a lot of consumers maybe wondering if it hasn’t already been addressed. 🍻😄
Mine makes a strange noise when coasting forward in freecoaster mode. Right before the engagement point you can hear the pawls hitting the ratchet ring lightly. Any idea how to get that fixed? Other than that it’s a solid hub.
I have the bsd revolution hub and it makes kinda the same exact sound. It sounds way too loud when it "engages" to pedal. I saw on a bsd comment it is a normal thing for those type of hubs. Some sort a misdesigning or so
Unfortunately the design of the slack ring doesn't allow as much slack as say the Helix V2 freecoaster. However you can modify it to come close to the Helix V2, it requires removing one of the tabs on the slack ring, this does cause it to not sit correctly, but i've had good success with it. But only do this if you have a spare slack ring as it needs to be done right, otherwise you risk the slack ring binding up on itself. My issue with the Hybrid (and i have three of them, two in use), that the engagement is too weak and has failed to engage many times. Servicing this hub is far worse than regular KHE style hubs. I've had this issue from new on two different Hybrids so far, and after lubrication with trying different lubricants on different parts of the hub, spring stretching too, i always end up with poor engagement after a few months. I run max slack which i suspect may add to the increased lightly hood of failed engagement. Today i'm trying two springs, back to back in the hub, and using TF2 oil on the internal of the slack ring, with the external of the slack ring dry. Previously i used TF2 teflon spray.
I bought a sinus. It includes the hybrid hub. The bike shop said it does not come with the spring to convert to cassette. Is this correct? Hard to find info
Do magnets loses their magnetic property from getting impacts or blows.. example if they fall, they become weaker. For how long do you guys think these magnets would last?
Last 3 questions, is there a certain RPM/speed that the pawls will open without pedaling due to centrifugal force? If it is too fast for a bike, then how much is that and where can i buy?
@@karl11 The guys in the lab calculated it. Yeah you're gonna need to be going at least 357mph around a banked vertical corner to have a chance of that happening. Unless you're planning to tie yourself to a jet engine you should be good.
since it has cassette sized flanges, you can use 184mm spokes for both sides. this works 90% of the time. 182mm for pretty much all freecoasters (both sides as well)
I broke the paws in my old cassete hub from impact.. The paws started skipping; this made doing tricks uncomfortable... Would this happen with the hybrid
The pawls are normally flat and not in the ratchet ring mos of the time so the chances of them getting damaged are actually reduced in this hub system. In the years we've tested this hub, we've had no problems like what you've described.
Yes that is a factory issue. I had the same situation. Metal and plastic disks must move freely to each other. If not you will be experiencing different slack values randomly when riding (For ex. I was losing a half of maximum slack below 15°C - seriously). After long chat Source Bmx send me only a new plastic slack disk instead whole new tested set and it made no difference. Guess what... Metal disk was to big and I scraped it a little bit and now it is fine. However I don't recommended to do it by yourself. Get whole new set of 2 slack disks from them which is surely tested and smooth.
hello, I have the hybrid fc hub, and it creaks sometimes when pedaling or returning the fakie, I'm afraid something will happen to it. Other than that, I tried to adjust it to make it looser and to be able to do crankflips and in fc mode it worked for me but it turns slowly and ends up releasing the driver cone, and now when I tighten it a little it is too tight even for pedaling, in cs mode it's slow just the same, you can't throw cranckflips, they should improve that, now I can't fix it so that it's normal, neither too loose nor too tight, any suggestions? I've had my mace for more than a month and the sounds it makes and what driver tight they make me dissatisfied with the hub
Any freecoaster doesn’t matter what name brand as long as it’s a reputable brand it will last as long as you take care of it. There are freecoasters designed for more durability and easier maintenance if that’s something that interests you I’d look into the odyssey clutch v2 you don’t have to take it apart and replace stuff unless it breaks which I’ve only seen once personally and it was an easy fix cause they sell every part for cheap on their website for it

The question is if the hub is set up in the small slack setting will it engage when accidentally pedaling forward while in a fakie
No, the small gap allows enough so that this cant happen. We have riders riding this hub with the small slack setting with zero issues.

The hub in fc mode with the largest slack setting always prematurely engages as if it’s in the smallest slack setting. Anyone else have this issue?
I have that same issue, I just emailed WTP support. I know it is because the slack ring is sticking, so I am looking to possibly get a replacement.

Hello! Where can I buy a hybrid hub in USA?
I bought a sinus. It includes the hybrid hub. The bike shop said it does not come with the spring to convert to cassette. Is this correct? Hard to find info
come on man, wheres the 2023 bike check on all your bikes and new gear, use to love your wtp videos on product lines
so if you change to cassette do you have to peddle backwards in order to ride fakie or does it run like a free coaster
Front hub to match coming anytime soon?
Incredible engineering, but one question. In the freecoaster mode, while in fakie is it possible to pedal forwards?(aka moonwalk)
The hub works like a traditional freecoaster in this respect, if you pedal pass the (large) gap it will engage.
What degrees of free run on 25T sproket?
70-90, or more?
That's a secret
this hub with the smallest slack setting how much is the Slack ?
In the next upgrade of battleship you should put this hub
Do magnets loses their magnetic property from getting impacts or blows.. example if they fall, they become weaker. For how long do you guys think these magnets would last?
No. We've been testing the magnetic driver for years now without any issues. No reason why they won't stop working from impacts/prolonged use.
