This is the kind of gameplay I also do a lot myself. Just sort of "existing". Puttering around the base, move stuff around, get a few supplies, that sort of thing. I liked this episode a lot.
To add to this, I believe if you put 1kg of rabbit meat in the box it also ends up with the same calories once dried as the same weight of bear/moose meat. Not sure if that’s intended or not and might get patched.
And you must keep box topped up with salt or you'll come back to some cured items and the rest ruined ... Best thing to cure is fish... Put a full 20k of lower weight fish in to cure at the same time and when you open box all the fish becomes 2.3k magically 900calories at 0.20k awesome travel food no scent either
The ravine has been a really good place for me to harvest logs. It's fairly warm in the afternoon and there aren't any predators so a fire isn't always needed.
Parasites is a great thing to get when you have multiple broken ribs. A moose broke 5 ribs, so I had a lot of time to spend recovering. I did a ton of cooking and water making and sleeping after I got parasites from raw ruined bear meat.

Hey Zak. FYI.. the meat curing box uses a set amount of salt per day when curing.. regardless of how many pieces are in it.. so you 'll want to fill it completely when using it. also, using salmon will yield a net loss on the calories as the fish will shrink down ,.. so whitefish and trout are the best option for curing of fish.. as for meats.. using moose and bear will yield a small loss of cals..deer being the least loss from 1000 to 900 per KG piece... i'm sure you'd figure this out yourself.. but i thought i'd save you some time and resources and feed you some knowledge cheers
Hey Zak, there's a trick to use ruined fat for pemmican bars if you first pick up a fresh piece of fat when you already are carrying the ruined pieces. Best way to use them up!
Hey Zak, just started a run living off the land and not eating any man made food. (Only meat fish or plants) the scurvy is honestly the hardest thing to get over if you’re complacent. I’m now on day 100 wish me luck!!
Instead of dragging Reclaim to office, I am thinking about setting the Dam up as my furniture workshop. Harvest Reclaim from the Dam, and harvest Cedar and Fir from Ravine and transport to Dam. Plus, Ravine gives you Rabbits, Deer, Sticks and Birch and a cave to reduce Cabin Fever.
poor Astrid, you're really putting her through the wringer with all this freezing, parasites and eating disgusting rotten food all the time... after you're better you owe her a nice fishing trip and some of the recipe foods.
I've been watching this since the start. I'm the type to not let anything go to waste, so I cringed everyone i watched you not harvest the ptarmigan feathers. I had so many stocked up when this update dropped. Never thought they'd be so useful. But u do wish the trade cost on batteries wouldn't have been delayed. I completed all of them before the cost lowered. At 3 batteries for each blueprint it was crazy. Living batteries from Milton and Blackrock took forever. I think I've repaired my travois more than my boots or pants.
I've been really considering it, and I think the camera would be brilliant in Pensive Lookout (the Bleak Inlet watchtower). It's a location that feels logical to find a camera in, and one a lot of people never go to, so this incentivizes it. Still keeps it a bit of effort and risk to get to, but more manageable than the most challenging map in the game.
@@KassFireborn but it's only few hot teas or coffees and after a quick rest in the cabin it's a straight shot to weather station ...there's a cave you can warm up in half way loads of ptarmigans and fuel up by weather station so not really an effort at all

Importent to know: the used amount of salt is fixed. It uses the same amount per day when there is one kg of meat in at or if there are 20kg of meat in it. So always fill it up to the max.
The devs will likely tune the output of the meat curing box eventually. I remember not that long ago when each fish got you 0.04 liters of lamp oil regardless of weight of the particular fish which meant you'd want the smallest fish to minimize cooking time to get that lamp oil. Kind of conflicting incentives - for the time spent cooking: big fish more food, little fish more lamp oil. When they changed that back I went "thank you for putting it back the way it was".
I'd like to see the camera in way more places. Mountain Town, maybe Grey Mother's house or the Overlook behind the gas station. Thompsons Crossing in PV. Misanthropes Island in CH (thinking that Sutherland or his family left it behind). Since it doesn't really have any survival applications, and people use it to document their journey (and the film is everywhere), the camera should be a ton easier to find.

You can put ruined raw fish into the travois (or any container) now. Presumably because they can be processed into bait and used in fishing. Ruined cooked fish will disappear.
On the topic of The traders Tale I think you’re gonna need to save that for your stalker series cause I think the Devs said it would be disabled on interloper/misery since it requires the prepper bunkers and they all spawn abandoned on those difficulties
@@Zaknafein it does require going to that one yeah but you need the other 3 for things before that point.
