Don’t remember how I found your channel, but I am glad I did. As an aerospace engineer who watches way too much UA-cam, its always 24/7 influencers/personal trainers. But seeing a fellow engineer balance work and a youtube channel inspires me to have my own! Also huge fan of the entire aesthetic
1st -- always wanted to do this. I have a recommendation for your French Press method that I learned from James Hoffmann's YT channel: stir & then scoop the remaining grinds in the crust right before you plunge. I always do this to ensure my coffee isn't sludgy, which happens without removing the undissolved particles in the crust.
And once brew time is up remove the coffee from the French press or it continues to extract, pressed down or not. Also, only press the top down just enough to submerge the grounds. Disturbing them after can cause off flavors. :-)
No way! My family is from Veracruz and they were in the coffee business back when it was some of the best stuff you could get. Then came Columbia and we’ll, it ended haha
Aside from taking off the top parts and doing some general cleaning, there really isn't a whole lot of maintenance (I've never had to remove any screws or the bottom portion.) There are "grindz" you can buy to also clean out extra particles from use over time. Thankfully Baratza allows easy part replacement from what I've seen. It's still a workhorse for me.
I love the glass kettle. I was first introduced to glass kettles at a dim sum restaurant (yank sing in sf) and I love the UX -- servers knew exactly when to refill.
I have been using an Aeropress (standard brewing method) and a hario skelton grinder. I know it’s a cheapo setup but it’s a clean, muted cup each time when brewed at 205F. I unfortunately am sensitive to coffee nowadays, so I’ll only drink a cup in the morning every few days. But it’s a great ritual to enjoy, especially when I brew using my speedmaster to time it!
Not sure if its the exact cup he's using. But I bought some that look identical from "Crate and Barrel" (United States). They are called double-walled glass coffee mugs.
I love the EKG kettle as well but wish inhad a larger one. My drinks are usually 270 grams of water which means I have to refill a bit if I want 2 cups worth. I prefer the V60 system. It's not as cool looking but prefer the filter holder and carafe shape for cleaning and pouring, plus it's just a bit cheaper.
I love your channel so much!! Everything is so essential pleasing and I love the style. Literally my favorite UA-cam channel and I follow a lot! I’m really glad you’re posting regularly again! I get so much inspiration from you.
Hey brother. Nice to see a new vid and fun to get a deep dive into your coffee and tea setup. How are you liking the Ode? I was unaware they'd started delivering units. Great production values
I have an always-hot water pot that I can change the temperatures on because I gave up trying to be patient when I want tea or need coffee in the morning. I actually use a single-cup metal filter for mine and I just rotate it as I dispense the water to get an even brew. I'm considering a chemex but not until I have my own apartment again because I don't trust my housemates to not break my stuff lol.
It's the Fellow x Fire Road bar tray! It's been out of stock online for a while but I did see it in stock at the Fellow store in San Francisco just yesterday!
Maintaining the Encore is easy and doesn’t require screwing off a face plate like it seems you do on the Ode grinder! Anyway the Ode is clearly an upgrade, flat burrs are superior to conical for grind consistency.
Very boring request, but is there any chance you could do a grinder care video? I was curious if you use the urnex grindz or if there’s some other way that you clean out your equipment.
Hey man, I was looking at buying a burr grinder as I want to step up my coffee game. I really like the fellow but it costs about 100 dollars more than a lot of grinders with a lot more functionality from makers like Breville. I was just curious why you chose the encore specifically? Is it solely for aesthetics or is there something I’m missing?
Seems like what you recommend is the industry standard that every vlogger and youtuber uses. Acaia scale, Ode grinder, EKG kettle… They are very good but they are very expensive as well.. but the fact that you choose the water kettle for your tea from Fellow says it all. Brand above everything else…
@@TrailRunner44 looks like it was a limited collaboration between Fellow & Fire Road. They are not making them anymore and according to Fire Road, they are not planning on any near future collabs 😔. Fire Road does have another marble tray but it’s not exactly the Fellow aesthetic that I’m looking for.
Any reason you haven't taken the dive into espresso? I could see you enjoying the manual process and the ability to experiment with something like a Flair. Love the video too - my two most recent obsessions have been coffee and watches so your channel has been on the money for me recently!
All the parts needed... wouldnt it be easier to just have a full on coffee machine? I daily use my Delonghi Magnifica ECAM to produce my freshly grinded Cappuccino... I mean, i have other things to do, than making coffee for 20 minutes... Machine grinds, brews, fills cup for me. I just need to take care of water, beans, waste. hmm...

That kettle's whistle sounds like a singing bowl, so peaceful!

This grinder handles more beans then other grinders I have used. Easy to clean

Check out Café con Jiribilla. They have some astounding coffees from Veracruz.
Excellent video, I really like your style and the editing you dedicate to it. Greetings
I think I had my Encore grinder for over a year and never cleaned it. Am I wrong? lol

You're probably getting a little bit of rancid grounds in there.
Wow what a simplistic yet very effective routine! Seriously so cozy! Thanks for making this
Ahhhhh... finally, someone that knows how to fade background music while talking, well done Sir. Other youtubers please take note.
I love the glass kettle. I was first introduced to glass kettles at a dim sum restaurant (yank sing in sf) and I love the UX -- servers knew exactly when to refill.
Aesthetics everywere!! love it

that has to be the most minimalist kitchen cabinet ever i am jealous
I uhh.... kinda want to know where are those glass cups from
Same! Could you please let us know where you got those glass mugs from?
I've definitely seen quite a few of them around recently. I think the style is called double-walled glass?

@penquindroppings Bodum Bistro (double walled) mugs
Ikea

The EKG holds 900ml/900g.
any chance you have a link to the tray? can't seem to find it anywhere, but would love a similar set up. cheers

Refined channel mate!!! La classe!!!
Thank you for this video I was debating between chemex vs stagg dripper.
I'm going to get the kettle and teapot with the basket.
Thank you so much for this video, very clear and congrats for your coffee brand, hope I will be able to taste it in France 😊

Excellent video! Would love to try the Stag. What are your thoughts on the Aeropress?
About the Chemex filters, I keep my compost bin in the freezer, I just throw it in there.
My Ode is amazing.
I also loved the Encore, but I couldn’t turn from that Kickstarter from Fellow 😍
What do you call this aesthetic?
I've been very obsessed as of late.
minimalism
It's called the every youtuber aesthetic.
SANTAMU3RTE specifically, commercial minimalism lol
Apple
Where did you buy the tray you keep the grinder and kettle on?
It's the Fellow x Fire Road bar tray! It's been out of stock online for a while but I did see it in stock at the Fellow store in San Francisco just yesterday!
What brand is that mat your kettle and grinder are placed on?
Maintaining the Encore is easy and doesn’t require screwing off a face plate like it seems you do on the Ode grinder!

How about those double walled glass?
Do you have a link for the tray?
Where can I find those clear glass mugs?
I love your tea and coffee cabinet ❤️😋
Enjoyed this as I also love both coffee and tea. Coffee more, of course 😅
Where did you get your mug/glasses?
How did you manage to make an equal refresh rate between the acaia screen and the camera?
I love using my reusable chemex filter found on Amazon.
Could you share the tray that you are using for the grinder and kettle?
It's from Fellow, not sure if they still have it up on their site
@@Hueguh They don't :(
How the hell do you open the tea chamber in the menu kettle. I’ve been trying for three days please help
Lookin' good!
Still rocking the tapatio sauce lol
That sounds interesting! I love that.
What’s your take on Kapeng Barako / Batangas Coffee?
What happened to your Kalita Wave kit?
coffee's always right 🥰
Ur Coffee and Tea is more planned out than my life.
Very boring request, but is there any chance you could do a grinder care video? I was curious if you use the urnex grindz or if there’s some other way that you clean out your equipment.
Let’s go!
I was just on ur Instagram page and coincidentally saw the UA-cam upload notification. Weird....
You must try Haveltea from Indonesia
What is that tray you have the kettle and grinder on?
It was a limited release from Fellow
Ive been looking around for alternatives but no luck..any suggestions?
You should try Zadiko tea, I think you'd like it!

we never got the follow up to the weekday menu video bro!
Consumerism at its finest: "we bought a $100 water kettle cause we like the sound it makes and cause our $150 water kettle pours too slowly"

For me can’t look past the Hario V60
The man's got TWO kettles......TWO! This is about as far from minimalism as I've ever seen! Each to their own though I guess.
