Not sure if this fully applies here, but in sports psychology athletes use the technique of creating an *_alter ego;_* a persona that embodies all the qualities they would need to be a champion. Seems like Sha'Carri subverted this technique, and placed all her doubts + other negative factors onto the first persona (who wears the wig). When she takes it off, all those other things go with it and she becomes the champion we love to watch
