The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Me, from the Russian Far East . I've discovered the singer recently. What a great voice. There's something in his singing, just like Frank Sinatra"s.

I love Neil Sedaka. Just kidding. I love Neil Diamond. Sweet Caroline reminds me so much of my youth. Seeing him singing this song brings me to tears. So talented and handsome. Great voice.

When we was so young..now we aren,t so young but his voice still is. Long life to Mr Diamond.
I am mesmerized by his beautiful eyes. Seems so genuine...what a handsome man... ❤
There is a Korean man sings , and his rendition of this song is beautiful.
To be honest I was born in 2003, I really wish I was born in the 50s or 60s especially in that America of that time 😢
He was a part of my youth we're exactly 10 years difference He is 10 years older to the day January 24th we used to listen to him in Everett Washington at the lake as teens and we all feel in love with him they'll never be another Neil Diamond He's the best most talented most handsome most humble genuine nice person
Probably one of the best singing voices ever.
AMEN. He was born with a masterful voice and gifted us with it.
Com certeza a vos dele é muito linda
yep he's nice
You hear that, no "bum bum bum" from the audience. A less cursed time.
To the person that reads this, I ask the Lord to bless them and their family, to cure them of every sickness and pain, to fill their emptiness with love joy and peace, to rebuke the enemy from their lives. " ASK JESUS TO COME INTO YOUR HEART AND SAVE YOU, AND TO FORGIVE YOU OF YOUR SINS, FOR WE GIVE THANKS AND GLORY TO THE LORD. IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS CHRIST AMEN!

He just sings the song beautifully and with heart, no theatrics. We were a different society then. I miss it.
I missed that too, today is only fancy lights and a lot of noise, they don't sing like before
True
Society back then was terrible what are u talking about
yes jack we thought different society would get better ,but it didnt,,,it became more more corrupt in all facets..what a genius neil is was
You hit the nail on the head we can even understand the words effortless Neil incredible
Neil Diamond: OUTSTANDING PERFORMER!!!!
The young people at the time are now old people singing that song at karaoke on cruise ships.
Ed Sullivan with sideburns
They do not make music like this anymore, never gets old listening to Neil.
still listening in 2020...
today disgusting/foul mouth/condescending rap and hip hop dominates the young minds and why we have so much crimes and kids are becoming dumber than decades ago.

Pauley Pavillion did you know it was written about John F Kennedy’s daughter, who was eleven at the time? So yes, maybe some of today’s music is “foul mouth” but at LEAST we don’t accept pedophile music ❤️
@@rennn8869 at least it sounds better lmao
Given its popularity today at games I'm sure many would be surprised it never reached number one. But then, 1969 was one of the best pop song years ever and every new song seemed better than the one that came before it. Those of us that experienced it then are grateful to have been there.
I can be anywhere and a song from this year will play and the memories just bring me back
My love and I wandered into a wedding reception at the hotel we were stay at in Ireland! We sat in a corner near the two guitarists who were playing at the wedding. I guess they recognized our Boston accents, because before we knew it they began to play and sing sweet Caroline. The bride,s mum came over and we were great friends immediately. One of my happiest memories of our travels around the world.
Boy you ain't kidding. Song
You were truly blessed to be of the that generation
The old days were the best!!
I ALSO LOVE ELVIS PRESLEY'S VERSION AN THIS COMMENT IS FROM A PROUD TO BE A BLACK AMERICAN CHRISTIAN SOLDIER GLORY TO CHRIST HOLY POWERFUL NAME AMEN AMEN AMEN 😇😇😇😇🇺🇸
Anyone else in 2023 listening to this masterpiece? (Just planning ahead)
trevor noah's netflix comedy special brought me here..
When I look at the world today I cannot help but be so happy to have been born way back in the early 1960s in the once great UK.
I grew up with the great british invasion wave 1 (60s) and 2 (80's) and an influx of the sounds of American music which were hits in the UK it was an electric time...
No autotune, no saggy pants, no vulgarity and still managed to entertain. Good times.
No vulgarity? One of his biggest hits is about a sex worker, right?
@@jacobgreengas7121 Yes!
Good times never seemed so good

he had high top pants😂
노래를 감상할 기회~ 감사합니다. 블로그, 포스트, 카페에 공유합니다.
I'm one of the many lucky people who grew up in the 60s & 70s listening to great music.
The song that touched the hearts of millions of fans all over the world...including me....and sung by the great singer Neil Diamond....the song that will never die....luv ya, Neil...
This is the most amazing quality for 50+ years ago. What kind of technology saved this episode in such clarity? Both the audio and video was immaculate.
you should see the music video for paperback writer by the beatles
This source which came from the master tape has been kept in a climate controlled vault for 50 years
All those videos were recorded on film, it can be easily scanned up to 4K quality with modern technology.
@@darthgroover No such thing as "recorded on film." (It's recorded on tape, or filmed . . . on film.) This was recorded on 2-inch quad color analog videotape. Digitally remastered and restored recently, it does indeed look and sound impressive. But the color is a little off . . .
Hey American, have you seen "The Wizard of Oz"? "Gone With the Wind"? Filmed over eighty years ago, they both look and sound like they were made yesterday, because the original camera negatives have yielded fantastic results thanks to talented technicians who digitally restored and remastered the original material, which fortunately was properly preserved. It's a myth to think that only new stuff looks good. And there's stuff made twenty or ten years ago that looks like crap today because it wasn't properly preserved.
You better believe it!!!
They do not make GOOD MUSIC like this
anymore!!!
LOVE NEIL DIAMOND
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So GOOD... Talent... The Voice! Amazing!
He has so much heart in his voice, it’s really inspiring.
Hey kids ... this is real talent.
WOW this goes waaay back. What year did Neil Diamond first sing on the Ed Sullivan Show? Neil Diamond was so young back then. How many of you remember the Ed Sullivan Show on TV? Answer: the song Sweet Caroline came out in 1969 and Neil Diamond Sang the song “Sweet Caroline” on his first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show in 1969
That voice! One of the most beautiful men to walk the planet.
I am 76 years old and the music keeps me alive.
I listen music in different languages.
Cool man
.
I remember listening to his music in my uncles car. Now on my 50’s,these tunes always take me back to those times. I recently saw the broadway play based on his life and when the actor, who was amazing, sang this song, the whole audience got on their feet and sang along. Especially, the boom, boom, boom part. It was wonderful to see people smiling at one another and singing together despite political party, religion or color of your skin. Music can truly be magical.
Every Sunday night at 8 PM Mountain, Ed Sullivan had the greatest "shew" on the tube.
I saw him in concert back in the day. He was awesome.❤❤
Those eyes, that voice, that soul. Hands down, sexier than Tom Jones or others in his day. He is the whole package.
He is so gorgeous.
Review Tom Jones' first Ed Sullivan appearance in 1965 where he sings "It's Not Unusual" then review his "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" on BBC in 1967. Both in black and white. Tell me who has a more powerful, refined voice, stage presence and control. Now look at "This is Tom Jones" TV show -- did Neil dance like that? Nope. And TJ is now 81 years old, still relevant and a judge on The Voice UK.
i love both! but i do like Tom more
@@osimnod yes those performances are amazing
30 years later the entire world sings along to this song ..
Lmao this is 50 years ago, it's not 2000 anymore! 🧓

This is the song that gets more popular as time goes by. Younger generation enjoys this song in the stadium and other public events.
I like both Neil's and Elvis' versions of this song.

What a great entertaining man at only 18 years old‼️❤️
He looks gorgeous, and with that voice...I don't remember seeing him on a TV show at that time. No wonder we all loved his voice.
He was on an episode of Mannix that year. Nightclub scene. He played himself singing.
Neil Diamond is a fine wine.
I remember seeing him on the Ed Sullivan show
He is a musical icon...his music will live long after him.
He is a great looking man!
This guy still sells out a concert faster than ANY new star. Someone please bring back wholesome
His lyrics may not be as madrigal as NEIL YOUNG or as love related as NEIL SEDAKA but Neil diamond had his OWN....
I was one month and 3 weeks old the night this show premiered. I loved this song as a toddler and ever after.
Guess who is here in 2021....who else?
What a beautiful song! It's timeless.
Love Neil.
Count me in, my crush actually 🌹💮🏵🌸🎀🌺I love his singing style, his looks

He had/has it all, no more to be said.
Yes, of course!!!!!!
He is very good!
Same for my family. Every Sunday night, The Ed Sullivan Show. Where has this time gone? Nov of 1969. Grammar school for me as well. Love Sweet Caroline when Neil sings, so heartwarming!!

My Mom loved Neil Diamond she passed away 4 years ago i know shes listening to you in Heaven....
One of THE BEST SONGWRITERS, LYRICISTS, EMOTIONAL PERFORMANCERS of all time!!
I’m a 1991 baby. This song is well before my time. But I do miss the simpler times, before excessive use of social media. I believe my generation are the very last to experience the true glorious days... we didn’t get enough of it! I’d love to have been born in the 50s/60s/70s... you truly were a blessed generation x
I was born in '57 & yes, we were blessed with some great moments in time :) Neil was one of my mom's favorites!
you're not wrong there I was born in the 70s and absolutely love it I loved those years of growing up
Well I was born in the '80s
Hi Lady Jaffa,
I was born in the 60's, I can only remember back as far as 1966. Yes, we were a blessed generation. Children of the greatest generation. We saw the last of the best things, the last of the age of innocence, the end of Camelot. I wish the world would have stayed the same so that future generations could have seen it too. But the only guarantees in life are: death, taxes, and that change is inevitable. My late husband and I often talked about the changes happening around us, and none of them for the better, just for greed. My husband was born in the 50's, he saw even more change than I did.
I'm sorry you missed out.
Keep a journal, take pictures, you never know, future generations may call your lifetime the end of the good times.
Take care, stay safe, have a nice day.
👵☺️✌️☮️🖖 😷 🙉🙈🙊
Yes we were blessed. Alot of love and soul back in the day. I think political correctness, social media, etc has taken away many peoples confidence, calmness...you are always being watched, judged criticized on everything you say and do. Causes alot of stress and kills your spirit
Saw this when I was Five years old, when I heard his voice , I knew he would be one of the Greatest Singer/Songwriters ever, Beating out even Elvis. While others were listening to Hard Rock, I was listening to Neil Diamond , The Moody Blues and any Easy Listening music. It's true that Music Can Affect your Emotions and Blood pressure. The Music today seems to promote anger more than any Music over the years!!!!
Good old days. When singers knew how to sing!!!!
My father was a Marine in WW11. We listened to swing, big band and jazz. Neil Diamond came out and my Dad really dug him. IDK what it was but suddenly we were brought into the 70s. Thank you Mr. Diamond. ( he even got THE 8 track) AvaDean
When I was 5 (in 1972) my aunt adored Neil Diamond. Now I can see why.
Now he is 80! Still sings great!!!
Thanks for being a fan!! I just wanna appreciate you in particular for being a fan and you should keep supporting me it brings me so much joy that I'm able to put smiles on your faces and hearts.👍🌻💐🤝❤️
Best Mr Diamond song. I am 80 and love Mr Diamond do very handsome voice like no other. ❤💋🌹🌸🌷💖🎤🎸💃
The harmonious blend of Sweet music and golden voice is what delivers a top hit. D u agree ? And truly, this is one of them.
Ever notice in commercials they almost always use music from back in the day? It's because it's just plain better.
I listen to it every day. 2023
Hello Lynda, how are you doing?
What I like about this appearance is that Mr. Diamond is not just lip-synching to the record. He sings it just enough different from the (famous!) airplay recording (and slightly cracks a note or two) that you can tell it's live. Well, OK, maybe recorded just before this appearance before the live studio audience and he could be lip-synching to *that*, but it shows he made a special effort for this appearance. So full marks Mr. Diamond!
Wonderful....handsome....like his eyes
Neil Diamond is my favorite singer since I was in Elmentary Grade and I'm now 59 years old . I have a CD in my car with Neil Diamond's songs and play while I'm driving to work and I listen his songs on my lunchbreak.. Also I always pick to sing "Sweet Caroline " everytime we have a Karaoke /Videoke time at home.
1969 at the memory! I was 15 years old, and now 66 years old. And I remember it like always.
Era a doce Carolina.
Eu tenho a mesma idade sua .
Same here! I love watching Neil. His sounds make me feel good.
My second major crush.
He was so good looking.
I had just graduated a high school in May of 69. Greatest song of the summer. Brings back so many good memories.
Oh, what a great song and voice.
I didn't know he was so handsome when he was younger.
I can hear my dad singing this song ever time it came on in the car

In the midst of the storm
I cannot see the sun right now
For the clouds are in my way
I cannot hear the song from the birds
a sign of a brand new day
I'm in the midst of the storm
A foreign place to be
A place where you cannot turn around
and a place where you cannot see
All you have is your faith
and you pray for it to grow
for only in the storms of life
is there one to comfort your soul
In the storms of life
Is where a man is truly made we're souls are being perfected, restored and saved.
I will wait on you o Lord
and know that you are near
I won't trust in what I see ahead but only what I hear
And I hear you're still small voice
Telling me to be calm
To rest assured in your peace and be still. 🙏😇🏳️🌈
This was November 30, 1969. All of Brooklyn was watching!
