Sometime along what I call "The Road Less Traveled" I discovered that I'll settle for peace rather than trying to be a happy person. I will be sixty soon, have retired but still work part time at a hardware store, have a friend in my life who is about 15 years younger than me, and I have to tell you, I have never had this much joy. I have come around to a God of my own understanding and have let go of the fear of the future and the regret of the past. @J OneLife I would take a thin woman in a heartbeat if she had a good attitude. Looking like you could be on a magazine is not necessary in the slightest, though I have found having a good attitude is harder for many women than staying or regaining a reasonably thin look, however hard that may be.

As a man over 50, this woman is about 50% right. You are better off trusting your own instincts than listening to her.
It's a double edged sword. I've dated and chatted to a couple of 50-53 yo men in the last few weeks, one had never been married with no kids, was flakey, couldn't pin him down to a day and kept moving the time around. Another admitted he had trouble with emotional connection and another was out right saying he didn't want to get into a relationship just because he was afraid to be lonely - then why are we even talking. Seems as we they get older they acquire even more baggage, become more set in their ways with less of a view of moving outside of their comfort zone. The longer these men are single the more set in their ways they become and the more jaded they become and we've got online dating to thank for that..

unfortunately some men have no idea, it doesn't come easy to everyone, some people have a sense of style when some people have no idea....I find the more educated or higher up the professional ladder they are the more stylish they will be as they understand how much presentation matters. It's not really that hard to get a decent hair-cut, shave if necessary and get a nice pair of jeans, shirt, belt and matching shoes..to wear at least on a date ;)

My experience is that they want an instant committed relationship; are close minded, yet expect me to be open-minded to their wants, needs, beliefs, opinions, sexuality; want emotional intelligence, yet, are not themselves emotional intelligent; are threatened by intellectual and spiritual intelligence in a woman; and that they a firmly planted in their beliefs, opinions, personality, character and show no desire to grow, yet expect me to adapt to them

I'm 63....after my heart attack 3 years ago, I turned to bodybuilding and fitness....I look REAL good, can bench my own weight and am running on ALL cylinders....it's a matter of choice, for me, it was to sink or swim....most women after fifty I've met are fat and sloppy with short haircuts, with very little interest is self maintenance....sorry, that;'s what I've seen. Tell me you don’t know several women in long term relationships where the man has left for the notorious “younger women.” Well, he did not “leave” for a younger women (generally,) yes, he normally winds up with a younger women, but that’s not the “why.” He leaves for sex, that’s the “why.”

On dating profiles women are encouraged to present with a good photo showing her as well groomed happy and smiling. And n most cases this applies and women look attractive in their profile pics. However I find a lot of men present with grumpy faces, bad photos, very little thought to their grooming and choice of clothing. Good for the goose ........why not for the gander too?

Those men over 50 who still want a 20 year old never grew up and will never find happiness. They're clutching at youth and living in a fantasy. There's no fool like an old fool, and if they do find a 20 year old that young adult will take as much of their money as possible before settling with a man closer to their own age. I'm not specifying gender here as it also applies to gay men, possibly more so, where youth is everything. As a 19-year-old woman I went out with a man aged 30, and what I got was deal-breaking jealousy and suspicion. Rightfully so, as I was young and pretty, frequently going out clubbing and occasionally snogging (albeit not sleeping with) other guys. I wasn't a money grabber but I did enjoy financial benefits my friends didn't.

He does not connect with me, ever! Does not share his thoughts, is not intimate with me the way committed couples normally are, does not let me know he appreciates me, has no interest in my thoughts or my feelings, in fact he does not want to hear about what I am feeling (unless of course it is fun related), or what I am thinking or really anything that a man in a committed relationship generally takes part in! He mainly concerns himself with himself, his own needs, how he feels, what he wants, etc.
I have a renewed sense of hope from listening to your advice! I am going to plan a talk with him (I am taking all kinds of notes to talk to him about), I need to get this relationship on track!! Most men over 50 REALLY want MUCH younger women starting in their 20's-- that is IF they can! Then if they can't get THEM, then they go down the line beginning with the 30's, etc.
ALSO the reality IS men that are DIVORCED don't want to get married again because they've typically been taken to the cleaners by their EX!

I met a former friend who texts me pictures of his kids and grandkids and places he's been. He calls and talks about his ex wife, his ex girlfriend and his present girlfriend. He never asks me how I am doing or seems interested in me which really turns me off. Why do men treat me like this? Should I just end it since I feel hurt by his lack of interest in me?

Just I notice that u breath on and off between ur speech , i am nurse with the same problem . The cause of this is actually because u breath through ur mouth most of the time not ur nose so that is why u need to breath in between ur speech. Actually this habit is not encouraged but we r so used to this that it become a habit it will take a lot to change this habit .

I'm 54 and still haven't found the right man yet. In my experience, men in their 30's and 40's are still sowing their wild oats when they should have been sowing! However I'm not affluent so often myself and others like me are judged by that. Are we gold diggers? I don't want to be seen as someone as this. Hey Jackie I've been talking to a great guy for the pass 3 weeks, he does live about 1.5 hours away. We are going to met next week. We've talked about family career politics emotions food so many other things. My question is how would I know if he's really interested. We have been texting and talking as well.

Why do you want to meet older men? Older men want to meet younger women, if you are 50 then a 60-65 aged man will pursue you. You're better off with a man who is your age or younger.

Who gives a dam about what men want. I'm old school what happened to men pursuing women. Women have always catered to men. What ever I do to better myself is not just to please a man. I notice alot of men in their 60s, 70s like women in their 40s. I would often be approached by much older men but why would I enjoy their company unless we had stuff in common?
