SORRY FOR THE ANIMATIONS INSTEAD OF THE BUMP!
Davinci resolve robbed me of the plugin I used to make them bob with my voice, so I had to animate stuff literally the day before editing finalization. I hope yall still enjoy :)
at least is not adobe
I think the animations work in some places. I believe a few of them need some more dramatic arcs for the arms and an extra key frame or in-between to smooth out some of them. I especially think the one where your model is throwing his arm was pretty funny. The only major gripe I think I personally had with it is I think it looks a little weird when your model comes off his legs when speaking. I understand it's based on the Minecraft models so idk how much you should play with it to make it still look like Minecraft but help with that separation. Anyway I think you should keep the animations after tweaking them and use them in the videos with the usual bump. I think finding a way to work with both will be really cool.
Totally agree! Legit made them last minute so I havent had time to cook them well. Ill see what I can do, and I wish I could use the bounce still. Alas, its locked behind paid davinci. Never to be seen again until I legitimately cough up 300 dollars.
@@therealbottomdweller oof yeah that 300 is a lot to drop on a software. I don't blame you for having to go a different route. At least the animations work well and honestly make the videos a lot more quality.
u can totally just screen record a pngtuber program in the meantime ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You can intentionally let your bread burn. Gives you less satiety but stores much longer.
That's a wild detail for them to include, dang
In case you haven't stumbled across it and blow your mind even more: with chiseling you can add other blocks to your chiseling project, so you can not only get any shape you want, you can also have multiple materials in the same block.
since glass blocks become pure glass when chiseled, no border texture, you can even make glass any shape you want.
I just got the game, and wow. This really is a sleeper hit. It's complex, but it walks you through everything with the in game guide, it's lighting is beautiful, the music captures that same early Minecraft vibes, and I got 2 shot by a deer.
It also doesnt immediately overwhelm you with 500 things. The complexity is slowly revealed.
About prospecting, certain ores only spawn in certain rocks, so if you know which rock bears which ore, you can just travel around the world until you found a rock that bears certain ore. and then you prospect
Thats pretty useful to know actually! Thanks!
For anyone wondering where to find this information. It is in the ore deposits section of the Vintage Story wiki, specifically in ore generation.
@@therealbottomdweller if your ever wondering in game simply type in the ore your looking for in the handbook and ores will be shown in the possible rocks
The only problem with this is that you won't always know what the rock strata is in any given region. Sure, you'll always know the surface stone type, and likely the second layer. But in most places there will be 3 or 4 different types of stone layered on top of eachother, and ore veins often will spawn in those bottom ones.
Couple of smithing and forging tips: You can rotate your workpiece on the anvil by rightclicking. Also, you only need 1 charcoal to heat up two ingots in the forge. Don't waste your coal filling the forge up to the top.
Love the tips this community offers! Ill keep that in mind!
You can in fact heat up FOUR ingots at once.
I’m pretty sure u can smith 4 ingots in one coal if ur fast
been playing VS since oct 2023 and personally I really enjoy the process of prospecting since it forces you to travel. youll find resources (wild crops, fruit trees, berries, wood and stone types, and more ores), ruins, traders, and land that you may find interesting
To each their own! I just dont prefer the 500 mile journey lol.
@@therealbottomdweller fair i guess!
Could not agree more. It forces you to interact with the world, not just settle in a certain location and dig straight down for all your ressources. Sure it might make progressing some steps of the journey more time consuming, but what is the rush anyway? Vintage Story really is a game about the slow steady progression.
Honestly that was and still is my main problem with Minecraft as while the world generation can make some really cool areas to explore everything you could ever need is in a short walk from your house so once you settle there is hardly any good reason for you to venture out so I find it really nice when a game forces you to explore and interact with the wider world
@biggiecheese3678 i fixed that problem in my minecraft world by changing my world settings to large biomes. The biomes are a lot more massive, but crossing them into new bioma takes longer. Plus, it feels more realistic, as a comically small biome is a little immersion breaking. Only works on Java edition, tough luck if you're on Bedrock.
space engineers slander will not be tolerated (i need to be able to lick every single periodic table element)
The games too complicated for my caveman brain to handle.
@@therealbottomdweller I am genuinely curious, what part of space engineers material processing do you have trouble with? Because in my experience it has been as simple as throw rocks in furnace and bam
Some people like complexity, especially if it is fun.I myself really like watching Redstone contrsptions,so I'd like SE.
Maybe some people would rather like to hammer all the 1200 steel plates themself to finally build a refinery 🤣
It exists. Terrafirmagreg. Though you get to automate things with steam after hammering tons of bronze
I actually love exploring the world to find resources. Granted, I tend to do this with my server buddy, but still, going on an expedition is one of the best parts of the game.
Exploring with a friend probably makes it better, I tend to play solo so my experience is definitely different lol.
About the fire clay, that's also something fixed in the next update: there's now ways to make fire clay with any clay and flint that has been cooked and then ground. The only complaints I have with it is that flint takes a long time to cook and natural spawning fire clay seems to be more rare (the new red clay seems to be a lot more common than the old blue clay though).
Also, there's now a late game way to cook a LOT of clay items at the same time so you can make LOTS of fire clay bricks at once.
Also also, torches kinda suck for illumination even with torch holders, much better to use lanterns that are made with candles (which you can make with wax you can get from bees, or you can find some by panning bony soil), glass or clear quartz and pretty much any metal plate.
And if you can't make lanterns, grease lamps also work a lot better than torches, though I'd install the mod that lets you put them on walls.
Glad the clay issue is being solved. I still stand by the fact that we need another furnace alternative tho that doesnt require breaking it lmao. As for the light sources, the lanterns I imagine worked better. The problem is its pretty far into the game and I think that torch holders have potential to be an early game light source option, but its actively working against itself if that makes sense? Otherwise yeah use the lanterns :)
@@therealbottomdweller The new update also added more ruins, so it's also a bit easier to find ruined torch holders.
Can't you already put oil lamps on walls?
Fire clay in 1.20 now spawns underneath black coal veins. Find black coal and there is a whole layer of fire clay under each layer.
@@Space_Mann21 unless im crazy im pretty sure you can? you can't put them on ceilings though, which there is a mod for im pretty sure
Okay, that ore shaping mechanic has just sold me on vintage story, deffo gonna have to play it now (And thank you for the Raspberry Flavored modpack, it's been a shit load of fun!)
What modpack is that?I thought it was only for Minecraft.
Also lanterns are made from any metals, which are the primary form of safe lighting!
Oh I imagine! Never got that far tho. I think torch holders could be a good EARLY light source tho, but its current design doesnt allow for it.
@therealbottomdweller true, I definitely agree that they should be made with other metals but figured I'd let you know since they're pretty easy to build when you can get access to candles and quartz
After hunting for a ton more leather I started to monopolize the market for oil lamps; they are super fast to create, are waterproof, and supply about the same amount of light as a torch.
Oil lamps! Weather proof and made with a bowl and animal fat. Not very bright but so good!
even at my vintage im still a story guy 🤑
Maybe the Vintage was the Story we made along the way?
😂
if you hold Alt while, knapping stones, Clay Forming, working on your anvil, ... the game will make it so that you can do your job with just the mouse cursor without having to move your camera around.
Ah interesting! I can certainly try that out!
Great review (I watched both)! I'm glad you enjoy the music!! ^_^
The tracks are genuinely bangers!
Clicked on this video, went watched the other one, am back now. Let's do this
Ay hope ya enjoyed!
06:20 i love the chisel! and being able to add multiple materials onto one block, one voxel at a time, allows for really complex designs. like, i made a glass window with pine trim, brass latches, and added glacier ice to make it look like part of the window was frosted over. but without mods or going into creative it can get very tedious to make multiples of complex blocks
Teşekkürler.
Thank you for the kind donation and for watching!
Chiseling is what solidified Vintage Story for me after everything else drew me in.
Absolute top tier game feature. :)
Such a banger decorative idea
Whenever I go to gather clay specifically for making clay bricks, I always turn them into the bricks on the spot, so I can carry home 4x as much
Bro gonna be pissed when he tries to find limonite💀💀💀
Probably!
Bro gonna be pissed when he tries to make Refractory brick💀💀💀
didnt know the torch holders made it so torches dont burn out thanks for that nugget of info
Yup! Its a pretty good upgrade!
This game is so big and there is so much stuff, I didn’t realize there was a simulated climate until I had plate armor and decided to venture FAR from home. And MAN this game has its moments🤯 they are rare but venture far enough, and you’ll be blown away at some of the landscapes.
2:58 What I especially love about it is the percentages have a bit of wiggle room, allowing you to tweak the recipe a bit to use less of a metal you're short on and vice versa
6:20
There's actually a Minecraft mod for this called "chisels n bits"! If you want to add this system to your favorite modpacks
I got hearted HE SAW IT
MORE PEOPLE ARE GONNA SEE CHISELS N BITS.
YAYYYYY
my god i just wish it went more fantasy survival and less eldritch horror. if the game had a magic system and fantasy materials and monster for said materials it would be so damn good. imagine tanning dragon hide instead of bear hides or hunting for mythril in the caverns filled with goblins and orcs.
The simple way of explaining why the wait times help is by simply making it all feel like a real homestead. There is always something to do around the house, trust me.
there's a setting for what i'd call "oldschool" or "classic prospecting" where it works more like the TFC mod, basically if you dig with the pro-pick near a vein it'll let you know how close you are via high or low readings and makes the hot & cold game much easier. Also it's not RNG dependent at all.
There's no way the only source of fire clay was "1000s of blocks away". Just no way. Clay is very common. And you can see it on the map.
I shit you not dawg! I may have missed some but all of my clay that was local that I was able to find was legitimately JUST blue clay.
@@therealbottomdweller vintage story has this weird habit of making you run around for ages to locate ores and stuff just to throw them at you right after wards
Me and my friends spend hours lookin for iron and once we located a vein far away, we also found one RIGHT BELOW our base
In my single player world, copper, fruit trees and salt i found en mass close around me after spending irl days wandering around collecting it elsewhere
Its just how it is sometimes
Your biggest gripes with this game are yet also topics that you applauded in the last video. The games impeccable way of giving you a million things to do, yet no real down time where you're left twiddling your thumbs. Having to travel all over the world to find, say fire clay or a specific metal, simply forces you to interact with the world. It's a very natural way to get you to discover all sorts of new stuff like: Ruins, Lore, New plants, Different animals, etc. That world discovering time would otherwise likely just be spend idling in front of the bloomeries waiting for the iron to finish blooming. The fact that fire clay gets used up might be somewhat annoying, but it just sends you back out into the world. Also the current new update that is soon fully finished is going to have a recipe to craft fireclay, so you only need to find more readily common materials. Framing this in another way: Is the system of item durability also a problem because you could risk spending all of your tin on tin bronze tools, and therefore you have to go out into the world to find more tin? Tin can also be quite hard to find. Same with Zinc or Bismuth.
Guess my opinion just evolved with time! Its all good, first video served as a first impression and this serves more as a final thoughts situation. I appreciate ya making that clear though, apologies for any confusion I may have caused! Hopefully Ill see you again
I personally like that you have to travel thousands of blocks to get a vital material sometimes. Pay attention to your surroundings and you'll find more than what you were looking for. Ruins. New trees, new rock types. Animals, cool worldgen, crop seeds and berry bushes.
I'm just going to drop this here. It's a duplication of the comment I left in your first vid: After playing Vintage Story since 2018, I can tell you that they've really gone from "Minecraft Clone" to Indy Survival Horror Game that only resembles Minecraft on the surface. The biggest takeaway is that the game is more Customizable than any other game I have played or seen. Between the various Game Modes and World Customizations, you can set it up Super Easy for an 8-year-old to play or Hard Core it for a 45-year-old gaming veteran. Game Modes includes Standard (Default Survival), Exploration (a bit easier and a hoarder's delight), Wilderness Survival (The world is against you), Homo Sapiens (First intelligence on the planet), and Creative (great for learning, pre-planning, or chill building). World Edit is built into the game! Then there are the FREE mods! There are Accessibility mods so you don't beat your keyboard to death. Mods that make the game harder, easier, or add "culture". (Not Rule 34 "Culture"!) Add several different varieties of animals. Increase the variety of plants for food and/or building. There are even some mods that make you feel like you've been dropped into the wilderness of certain locations of our world or back in time. And a variety of mods across the spectrum that give the game a more RPG feel. Please note that the mods I'm mentioning have mostly to do with Vintage Story version 1.19.8 since version 1.20.1 just dropped and, as usual, mod devs have to figure out if their mods have become obsolete, still work with no changes, need a few tweaks, or major tweaks. All of which could take time as a large amount of players head into the new version and start flooding their inboxes. Personally, I give a few weeks to a month for Popular Mods/Quick Devs and two months for the rest to at least give us Players a heads-up on what they're doing, if anything. Meanwhile, there is a large amount of new vanilla content with update 1.20 and four new boss locations that is ready to be played!
Love the continuous coverage on this, It's awesome to see your passion show through your content with this game.
I always look forward to seeing a post from you, especially the Minecraft modpack critiques!
Glad ya enjoy it! I figured this game deserved one given I hardly covered all of it even with my time spent. Hope to catch ya next time :D
We got boats and ridable animals now
Man first time i saw someone play this game i felt completely enamored with this game
I love the building, i really like that it takes that much effort to even begin building a house
I like that we now have earlier game alternatives to get to do that
I still feel the grinding to steel to be very grueling but honestly? You get used to it
Also i agree with the fire clay brick issue
It's very annoying how much fire clay you need by the endgame
Its a good ass game! Glad fire clay is finally getting a crafting recipe so no more cross globe searches lol.
Making steel makes me proud of myself each time I make some.
One of the first mods I installed when I started playing over a year ago was Bloomery Drops on break.
So, you still have to break the bloomery to get the items out, but it drops the bloomery and chimney, so you can just place them back down.
I should rummage around for mods, especially this one
I want to encourage new players to join the discord too. There's a very nice community there, and if you ask questions in main, you'll usually get an answer right up until you resolve it. I have a different name in there but if you ping me with a question i'll be glad to help. This game is just fun
Its such a great game. I havent been this much into a game in a lonng time. however, a frustration I have is finding resin later in the game for the windmill and gears. You have to run around looking for it on trees.
It's crazy but I'm marking every resin I find.
Vintage Story stole me away from Minecraft with promises of that feeling of really exploring a lost civilization. That worked. I find myself enjoying that each tier of gear takes actual work. In my world I'm up to a full set of meteoric iron gear (tools and armor) and now I'm off to steel. My issue lately was finding borax for leatherworking (yes, Minecraft players might be shocked that leather doesn't drop off of cows). With the elk, you need quite a bit of leather, and I was down to about a cup of borax. I searched for six in game days for more, and I ALMOST cheated to just create it! Then, last night, I found THREE deposits in the same desert! Now I've got may saddle, bridle, and saddlebags... and I'm off to the first super distant lore location.
Oh, players might want to use the "carry on" mod that lets you load up a chest and throw it on your back to expand your carrying capacity! Of course it comes at a price of speed, but you can carry a second chest in your hands, too. Yeah, you can't fight, swim, or open doors while carrying it, but if you really need to move to a better location for your base, its a great way to do that while maintaining the feeling of the vanilla game and earning all that upgrading!
I feel so lucky that I spawned in an area with LOTS of chalk to make limewater. Didn't even have a second thought about how much harder it would have been to make leather had I not.
10:40 I usually ditch torches as a light source pretty early on. I hunt a lot so I usually have spare animal fat, so I mostly light with oil lamps and once I can, lanterns. By the time I have the resources to craft torch holders, I'm usually working towards lanterns.
Juts prospect when you lookinng for something different, even when you just wondering the world, in thats way it's easy and not tedious
In my world, I prospected while I was searching for traiders, wood, bees, clay, ect., now I have huge list of points on my map, so when I need something spesific, I just go tgry this list
Generaly, if somethin in VS takes a lot of time, you actualy need to find way to do this, while you doing somethin different, as you mentioned in video
I can try that when I play next! Probably need to find bees
Yk, I'm looking forward to seeing more alternate crafting that isn't in the 3x3 as the devs want eventually.
Yeah thats gonna be hype
@therealbottomdweller If the mod makers do it for tool heads being put on sticks, that will be awesome. Hopefully, the more detailed crafts like leather working will be done later.
Remember all of ur problems can be solved by mods. And also they make having mods so simple so y not
True but I gotta review it as an unmodded experience lol
@@therealbottomdweller That's fair
I find plenty of torch holders in ruins. By the time I’m making iron tools I’ve found all of the torch holders I need to outfit the house where I need them. The primary light source being lanterns. If you want an early game light source, choose oil lamps, which is Fat+Fired Clay Bowl.
As for bloomeries, I typically make up quite a few bricks at a time so I’m not traveling back and forth for the clay.
Crafting glass with a saw will get you twice as many glass slabs, saving a lot of time and materials.
Ill have to give that lamp a shot! As for bloomery clay I can keep making more but its like a two process wait time for glass lmao.
I actually really enjoy the prospecting, haha. It's like a mini game, kinda like Battleship, only that you get neat minerals when you land a hit. Also you have a reason to go on a little expedition, and I love exploring in games like these.
But glad you enjoy the rest of the game and give it some recognition!
Also, its really fun to see how you progressed in the game since your last review and discovered new things - and there is still more to learn haha! E.g., you maybe already saw by now that when chiseling, you even can combine different materials in one chiseling project.
I see you have redundant anvils in your base. You can break them into ingots with a chisel. Oh and btw you can rotate your craft in the anvil with right click, saves a lot of hassle.
I’m not too bothered about the prodpicting but it’s def something you have to learn and understand how the game works, def makes you explore a lot which leads me to wanting to make path blocks for quicker travel.
I tend to get bees as soon as I can to get a good supply of candles and I usually have the ability to make lanterns by the time I have a house big enough to worry about spawnproofing. I think the idea that torches are cheep so you use and relight till you have lanterns. Fair criticism tho not downplaying it
Yeah my house got a lil ambitious at the start. To a point drifters spawned in my house during a temporal storm. It was rough.
just commenting for the algorithm;
I've been playing Vintage Story for about 3 years now. I absolutely love this game and wish more people knew about it.
8:04 - This has already been adressed in the new 1.20 update, currently in an unstable release candidate version. Fire clay can nowe be crafted from regular clay and calcined flint.
I get that you're making this video on the stable version of the game, but 1.20 changes quite a bit, I recommend checking it out. It's probably gonna go stable in like a week or so.
Good shit! Glad to hear theyre making a solution! Lookin forward to this next update!
This is the Minecraft modpack terreafirmagreg but it's own game
Thank God i love terra firma
Heard the game was inspired by TFC! Its pretty good!
You got a second channel with a playthrough? Would love to see that.
I have an inactive second channel lol. I dont have time to edit for a second channel with a weekly upload schedule, but once I start actually gaining a budget Ill consider maybe nabbing an editor for it. Who knows? I dont!
@@therealbottomdwellerYou could alternatively just upload a playthrough unedited/or live stream it.
It would be pretty low maintenance.
The new fireclay making system is nice if the world gen cucks you on a very vital resource, annoying it doesn't spawn as much though but at least an option if you can't find a source
Also quite note, you can rotate your projects on the anvil by right clicking instead of jumping on it to see the bit you need to hit
Also to note, those chiseled blocks can have other blocks added to them, I haven't messed with it too much, just adding in a polished stone to the top of a debarked log to make a kitchen counter but it's very nice looking
After all these reviews though I'd HIGHLY recommend doing a modded playthrough with 1.2, mod support is very integrated and supported by the devs, not much different to using the world gen settings buttons so you can hand tailor and experience to your liking. The only 2 I'd say are a must have that enhance the base game is better ruins adding in little mini dungeons and more interesting locations to find maybe even restore
and Rivergen (I like it more then the rivers mod) giving you these little natural highway systems you can use to traverse a bit better in your local region if you establish by a river using a sailing boat full of chests to do big cargo runs to resources
Also can't wait to see wait to see how you feel if you ever get out to the first dungeon of the game, it's very high quality
Anyways hope you continue to enjoy and learn new things about the game that will make you go "ohhh that tedious thing I was getting annoyed at has a better way to do it" it's one of the strongest aspects of this game IMO, always better solutions, but never optimizes the tasks out entirely
Oil lamps are the way to go before you even have access to metal for early game for me.
Something you should check out in the long term is several of the big mods - primitive survival adds some basic fishing mechanics for one. Firearms is one that has some difficult progression but feels oh so sweet when you finally take down a wolf in one hit.
Ill take a peek into the mods! Been meaning to give it a spin
The world is huge, resources are spread out. Exploration is your friend. When you find translocators you can go thousands of blocks away to source new types of wood, stone, metals. There are ruins to explore and plunder, northern lights over the frozen tundra, tropical rainforests with bizarre plant life, hyena-filled savannahs to explore - you’re just getting started.
This man live in dirt when he could be living in brick dirt, ha peasants!
Nah regular dirt is epic
Well the transportation update is out lol. Though it is mostly gated behind the first dungeon so i get the criticism.
Is it now? Weird that its locked behind a dungeon. The game could REEEEALLY use transportation being accessible.
@therealbottomdweller rideable elks are planned to be something you can just tame eventually, but they don't have the infrastructure for proper taming rn so the current implementation is just buying them from treasure traders after learning the resonance archives. It'll be more accessible eventually but currently the fastest form of easy travel is boat construction
Surprised no talks about a specific way of transportation after fixing something with specific something that's pretty common in surface cave entrances. Won't give any more hints without spoiling.
Thats A way, but I need legit mobility and not what that does.
@@therealbottomdweller lucky you 1.20 just came out and elk ridings a thing ;D
Been waiting for you to make another vintage story vid I absolutely love this game
The waits finally over! Hope ya enjoyed!
8:15 fire clay as of 1.20 will not spawn naturally anymore (being replaced by red clay) and you will have to craft fire clay from naturally spawning blue or red clay vains (actually fire clay will occasionally generate under coal vains but that’s negligible in my opinion)
From my testing it can also spawn near Bauxite gravel or sand but it is rare aswell. But since now its craftable its not that bad.
From my experience it's not negligible. Even from moderate coal readings you can expect massive amounts of it. Plus the coal itself is very nice too. Especially if you want to work large amounts of metal, then it's more time efficient to setup a coal mine than to chop and kiln trees. On the flip side, if you're unlucky with fire clay under coal, than you can use the coal to cook the flints anyway
@@GregorSamsara_now that is good game design, no matter what you are rewarded toward your goal.
@@excursor4296 Vintage Story, the block game that _actually_ fixes problems, listens to players, and has convenient yet not overpowered mechanics
I have chiseled a dragon statue it's still working progress but it is multi blocks worth of chiseled goodness and I love it. Also the chisel and bits mod for Minecraft does the same thing however vintage story gets the point because it's just in the base game.
10:51 You can actually make an oil lamp using a lump of fat and a fired clay bowl, it is literally the cheapest early-game permenant light source although it has less lighting radius than torches and lanterns.
Tip for you if you still can't find fire clay. You can smelt flint in a fire pit then grind that and add it to clay to make fire clay. One flint make 8 fire clay so as an alternative it's not to bad
My man: Clay bowls and animal fat make a permanent wall-mountable light source. You can also make lanterns with all forms of metal. Beyond that, torch holders are EASY to find in ruins. You'll have more than you know what to do with.
I can also recommend a lot of mods for the game. While in say minecraft or other games, you can very easily tell what is modded content or what isn't, in VS modded content really manages to fit itself into the game very seamlessly, for example Primitive Survival or Expanded Foods (when it gets updated finally)
About torch holders, I don't think I've actually ever made one. I find them in ruins (I do use the better ruins mod) way before I get to brass. But oil lamps are good for early game. They have a smaller light radius but requires less resources. The only bloomery mod I'm aware of is better bloomeries, which if you craft better quality fire clay bricks you get a higher return rate.
Hi. Love to hear the excitement of a new player! There is a mod to make torch holders out of all metals and one to keep bloomeries and skeps intact when opened. Play on my friend!
Coming back to this video just to let you know that a couple days ago a new mod was made that adds wooden torch holders, thought you might be interested.
Sounds like a quick way for my house to catch fire lol! Sounds interesting tho might snag that
About the fire clay, in the latest update the devs tweaked it so it can only be obtained by finding it in a coal vein where it spawns or by mixing regular clay and flint, to add an extra step between iron and coal, but at least now you can craft it if you can't find it
Also we got red clay now :p
Sparse resources like your clay serve a purpose... multiple purposes. First, is avoiding hoarding tons of that resource, and truly appreciating when you've finally found it. Second is paying closer attention as you travel at your surroundings, and learning to spot the slightest detail on the map. The third is broadening your horizons... literally. It's meant to make you go that much further, see more sights, and find more interesting resources as you do. Lastly, it drags you kicking and screaming into the deepest, darkest caves in hopes to find a faster method of travel to make that journey easier.
And yes... bloomeries are broken. lol
I'm not that much of a bread fan. It was fine in the earlier versions of the game, before the oven. Now it's a ton of work for something that doesn't really satiate you that well, regardless of how long it stores. It would be like putting in resources and time to sun dry berries. They'll last longer, but they're not very useful outside of other recipes after a few days of play.
If you mention chiseling i shall appear! Seriously though, great video! Your presentation is great!
Thanks for the kind words! Chiseling was really cool and I definitely wanna mess with it more. Thanks for watchin, hope to see ya again!
Honestly, I've never found frustration with Bloomeries. That being said I do have 5-8 fire clay patches or so in the surrounding area so I guess that checks out.
I have however gotten frustrated with the recipe for shingles, it's so slow and hurts my hands T-T
there is mode for not brake bloomery and Bee hives... "xskills"
Love your videos. They're so underrated.
If I get the chance I will definitely give this game a shot.
Highly recommend it!
What is that behind you? 0:13
A desk and a pile of mugs?
Yooooooo! Its a great game! I hope you enjoy playing it! If you have any questions, be sure to ask, and theyll be answered. XD
Its pretty damn good so far!
I learned about Vintage Story when I played Minecraft with TerraFirmaCraft and wasn't a big fan of how everything is done via overcomplicated GUI's. Suddenly, VS appeared with in-world crafting and I'm lost in it since. Even started developing my first mod for it.
I miss Minecraft, or to be more specific, many amazing mods created for it, but after experiencing beauty of VS I have a hard time coming back, even to heavily modded MC (would cry tears of joy for Create-style mod for VS tho).
VS became my go to game for chill farming time, with some eldritch horrors sprinkled on top lol.
Beta Minecraft tends to keep me more than two weeks but I agree, VS has sorta captured me at this point.
First off: The animated avatar looks cool, even if I still don't like the Minecraft models. You could use something like Veadotube for the whole animation thing, so after it's set up you can JUST use it. It's great, give it a try.
Second: I can't wait for the third video, because there's not only new stuff, there's stuff that's CHANGED too. Your complain about fireclay would be... Different :)
Third... Yeah, finding metals is never easy. You need to cover a large area because some of them do NOT appear in certain tipes of rock/soil.
Fourth! Did you know you don't need bloomeries to make glass? Did you know you don't even need to make glass, you could find the specific merchant type and buy glass from them! Did you, in fact, know that you don't even need GLASS to make a greenhouse? :)
Finally... Yeah, the 1.20 stable update is coming this month VERY SOON. Hold on to your elks, it's gonna be nuts.
Tons of useful info here! Thank you for the advice! I know the new update makes fire clay a different process, so Im lookin forward to that. Thank ya for the kind words and suggestions! Hopin to see ya again!
@@therealbottomdweller Oh, and talking about the other block game, someone made a mod to fix half of what bothers me to no end in Minecraft.
"Actions & stuff". Who could've guessed that making the animations more bouncy and dynamic would make the game look so fresh and less dated? I was actually surprised.
Bros gonna freak when he discovers the games story and rpg elements
Oh I know it exists. Mentioned it last time I talked about it lol
You should try Terrafirmacraft, and modpacks based on it (e.g. Terrafirmagreg). Sounds similarly survival based
BTW the chizelling is ancient minecraft mod stuff!
9:15 Ohohohohoho do not get into steel-making
HELL YEAH
Hell yes indeed!
Best game of the genre. Period
Definitely agree that its one of The Best, maybe even just the best!
oh!! there's a mod that makes bloomeries drop into their top and bottom pieces!
I mean.. you don't have to use a bloomery, if I remember it right, you can make quartz windows
guess I'm not most players, I ALWAYS mess with the settings before I start playing a game for the first time. I love games with Modular Difficulty stuff.
Ay fair enough! I just know I dont lol
I know plenty of people who even MOD games before playing vanilla
Another great video! 🎉 when your dude exploded!!! So funny!
Thank ya! Glad you enjoyed!
Let's Goooooo!
I get the Fire Clay thing, but you need not more then one patch of it in the beginning. Just 2 Stacks of Fire Bricks are enough for your first Iron tools.
Yep, but its the fact you keep having to make a new one for even so much as glass that it gets old fast
you can craft fire clay now so that's pretty much a non-issue now
Omg i just got the game and wow i just found out about the micro blocks 😮 just waiting for the boats to come out
Microblocks are so sick dawg! I love em so much
6:20 Oh so I guess you weren't around for the Chisel and Bits era of Minecraft modding
I was around but I never used it.
I must say, I actually disagree entirely on the topic of bloomeries!
Your take is quite reasonable, but I find the rate in which fire bricks are returned to you quite reasonable. But on top of that, there is nothing more satisfying to me than having a huge pile of fire bricks sitting near by Bloomery aisle, knowing that if I need more bricks in the future, I am set for a very good while. And that security came from my efforts harvesting clay and firing the bricks
And even if it will eventually run out, I kind of love that Vintage Story has compelling reasons to explore your world, and to go on long expeditions. Should you need more clay, you go exploring for it. If you need different stone types to grind into powder for some purpose such as Bauxite's utility in upgraded refractory bricks, you travel the world for it. If you want warmer climates during the winter you travel south
Genuine purpose is given to the world size, and obtaining the means to maintain significant travel is immensely satisfying. Capable metal tools, a stable food supply, inventory space and equipment to protect yourself. To travel for your needs is to feel as if you're conquering the world, and I love every second of it!
So every time I use a bloomery, knowing there is a price every time I operate the process, I can prepare myself with abundant iron ore and fire bricks, and feel like i've won
Ay fair enough! I suppose this is one of those moments of divisiveness for players. Totally understand why you enjoy the way bloomeries are right now. I just personally wish there was atleast some sort of more permanent upgrade, even if it was a multi block structure or somethin. Thanks for watching btw, hope to see ya again!
THIS NEEDS TO RELEASE ON STEAM
Having this game on a steam deck would be nice ngl
The modded version of VS is peak.
vintage story is such a fun game
Honestly my top favorite game atm, nothing tops Vintage for me!
6:20 *Please* Look at @CrickBritt 's chiseling work! Hands down our resident chisel master
I think i actually like the idea of using clay as a metric for "how much realism is too much realism"
There really is no reason for a non-sim videogame to have more than one type of clay for doing "heat thing up to make solid" clay mechanics. If your non-sim videogame does this, chances are you're too deep into the rabbithole that nobody wants to follow.
I will call this the Clayscale
