@@mxxstro VS has not just some great mods already but I also love how most mods match the game's visual style so closely and how well a lot of them integrate into the game.
personally I usually leave wild colonies wherever I find them, so if I mess up and lose all my populated skeps, or if my hives get gotten into by raccoons, I still have the wild hive there to get them from
worth noting that honey never spoils so maybe not use it for mead (as that can spoil) , i keep some as emergency food , not to say you can make jams with fruits , traders often sell bowls of honey for cheap , usualy 4 bowls for 1 gear(4liters of honey and bowls for free) , one of very few items who is cheap but otherwise hard to get.
if you want alcochol berries/fruit and press is way to go , that will also leave dry leftovers who can be fed to animals:) sealing juice makes fruit wine.
Dude I have to commend you, these are by far the best tutorials for this game out there. Clear, concise, doesn't waste time, and the videos all have chapters to boot. Great work man keep it up
Your tutorials are so clear and good. I'm so picky with the videos i watch and your voice level is great, you just try to be you, and you think of explaining everything right down to how to pick things up. You're one of my go tos!
I came for the cellar lol. I had a hunch that this game had a cellar mechanic. Or at least a mechanic for food storage under ground. So i put some spoiling meat meal in a crock, then in a jar and dug a small hole and buried it in there 😂 I now see why that was wrong lol
Now wiki says that each block from certain classes ADDS to an insulation. It was tested, and 7x7x7 made of stone displays 0.27 stats, when 2x2x1 displays only 0.56. And open or closed door makes a difference: an open one subtract 3 from an insulation, while closed one subtract only 1. Per each block of a hatch/door model. Also each full face block inside an insulated volume can also subtract from an insulation level. So, chisel them to make them not to be a full face block anymore.
This series has been a great help! I built my cellar above ground with packed dirt all around and a bendy hallway (it was built before I could make a solid door), a full box with all corners and edges covered. Would doubling up on the walls make it even more efficient?
@@forgenorman3025 It's made by people who had nothing to do with TFC who were inspired by the mod. It has a lot of similar mechanics but no relation other than that. I don't know why this is such a common misconception, I thought the same thing until a couple days ago.
From this vid it would appear that extracting bees with a nade also destroyed the honey inside. Which is unfortunate, otherwise the bee nade would have been a good way to safely extract the honey without risking angry bees. Especially since it didnt destroy the Skep.
These tutorials are really great, but I had some questions if you could share some insight 1) How do you zoom in like you did at 1:10? 2) When I last played (about 3 weeks ago) I heavily struggled to find enough copper to progress and ended up abandoning the save and losing interest, because it felt insanely difficult to find any. On top of that, the monsters are a huuuuge pain and I couldn't find a way to deal with any of that, so maybe advice there as well would be useful? That's all I can think of though, I thought I had at least 3, but I either forgot the last one or just didn't have one. But that second one is very important; Early setup is a struggle for me
Actually had another occur once you showed your cellar; How do you get the crystals down there? I never went caving when I played because, as I mentioned, I couldn't find *any* metal to progress with so I was sorta stuck. (Shame there's no option in game to make metal a little more common, cuz it really feels like the only way to get it is pan and pray)
When you find copper stones on surface it means there is copper below it(usually 1-5 blocks below dirt) ,paning bones also can yeld copper arrows or spearheads , so if you find copper stones make map marker , they are easiest to see on rocksands z seam to generate more often there too , so when you make first pick you can mine it
@@EldritchHeart you can make surface copper and tin more common (or more rare, if you want) in the world generation settings, as well as increase the chances for all ore veins in general i believe
That zoom is actually a client side mod that I had added but you can reproduce it to a point with game commands added to a macro. As for copper, you can change the settings for that if you want. This video is part of a playlist and the first couple episodes (specifically the first one) should help. Panning is a great alternative, especially if you find some ruins with bony soil to get you started. I'll be covering getting into metals soon.
To combat the early game mobs, sleeping on a hay bed can help a lot. It speeds up the night where they can spawn the easiest in since they need some darker areas to spawn from their rifts. Spamming torches in your house can be a good temporary measure to avoid them spawning inside your walls too. Early armor and a crude shield can really save you from most of the damage they do as well, again, in some of the early vids in this playlist.
Hey there! Thank you for a cool video. May I ask how did you created those collored storrage vessels and nameplates for your chests? Looks really good but I can't find any guide how to do that. Thank you:)
Vallen, will you Bit by bit modding, as in creating. I wouldn't expect a course on programming any specific language, but maybe go over what is on the wiki? It's just a thought...
So what exactly is the point of the wild bee hive sizes..? Is there any? Or is it just for visual variety? I love that they're not oversized fat chibbi bees though.
I just want to verify this idea I have. If you're planning on going to a dangerous area, would having a jug of honey on you be useful to drink and gain hit points quickly?
Hello! I went to look at this exact question myself, and got exited seeing such recent comment. But to answer your question: No, it either has to be less or big levy 7x7. I assume mods or other methods would fix it. If mot, that means you’d have various cellars for different food, which might make it more organised and cozier!
would you happen to know the rain fall amount for wild bees to spawn? i live in a (common) rain fall and im worried im wasting my time if all my local forests have to much rain happening
@@MischiefofMice so (common) should be okay? dam iv got like 12 forests to wander thru if thats the case, but thank you this helps narrow my range down a little
The one upgrade I really want in VS is a Langstroth hive, or other frame-based hive design that doesn't have to be destroyed like a Skep.
true, the bees in VS have made me want more to "bees progression" I might look into modding in expanded apiaries.
The "from golden combs" mod adds that and more.

The extra details you put in your Videos make them really stand out! Thx for your effort.
Thanks for the kind words
5:55 the hive updates when a "bee" finds a new flower then returns to the hive. That's why it seems random.
A curious but not unexpected twist that it does not know the difference between an open trapdoor and a closed one.
Hooray for bees!

What were all the crystals in the cellar for?
Pretty shiny
Some kind of bulshit, why you can’t harvest honey without destroying beehives?
