It’s probably just to make the cut easier. It’s much harder to ensure everything is even when the hair is curly. If the guy wanted straight hair, he would have had keratin. It’s kind of a thing on this channel.

If you're mixed or have a face on the narrower end as an afro male you can pull off European styles with straightening or faded fros, if you have more broader faces, just go to a predominantly black and or Latino barbershop and or learn some basic protective styles for your curly hair, if you want braids just get a black or latino salon to do it.
Curly hair is easiest and best to detangle when wet with conditioner in it. Also multiple passes with a hot flat iron causes heat damage and his natural beautiful curls could lose their shape and health.
People don't think that he(the barber. Hairdresser) do what the client wants. So don't blame the stylist for what the client chose. I like the final result....
I just hope he tells them how to care for their curls because I'm pretty sure they womt do all of this flat iron and blowing drying at home. They looked a mess when they came in so that tells me that they didnt take proper care of their hair on their own at home.
