- Well lets go ahead and upgrade this 54 chevy truck with a proper firewall pedal and power brake assembly. No more peeling up the carpet to check the brake fluid !!!
It's a pretty easy swap really.
Please like, share and subscribe if you like watching this kind of junk.
You will probably see more of this machine soon. Full build of an LS powered pickup.
Thank you very much
This kit is made by Performance Online..
very best power unit & pedal assembly fabrication on the Net- a perfect application and excellent narration ..... Works great for my '35 Chevy Master... no crappy hacks - Great video & thanks much!
Thanks for watching
Very well done!
Thanks for the walk-through. Starting a 54 chevy pickup build myself. It's always nice to have a little help getting the ball rolling.
I appreciate it bud!
Looks a well made product. Better than braking on a wing and a prayer.
Yes sir
You should make a video on how you connect the brake lines to this please and also make a vid on how it came out in the end
I could do that
Thanks for the heads-up neat job
Its not to bad. Works good.
I’m following, doing the same thing to my 54 Chevy truck..great video.
Regarding your comments at the end of this vid, not too long and boring at all. It’s actually the best how-to vid I’ve seen. Especially for a rookie like me who’s doing his first 54 rebuild. The detail and step by step helps us newbies haha. Thx brother. Looking forward to more from the 54.
Great video!!! i did the same thing to my 54 this winter. got it from pol also. only problem i had was the pedal bracket that came in the kit put my pedal to the right of the steering column. so i had to have them swap it out with the one you show in your video. and it worked great. also i made up my brake lines allready before i put in the wheel well (or inner fender) and ran it from the bottom so the line is in the way. was going to alter the wheel well but THANKS to your video i will now move it to the front top of the valve... Yippie
I feel way safer with proper modern brakes. My 47 wrecker is still a single reservoir system, failure is always on my mind.
Excellent.i think an all left thumb guy like me could do it. I have an opportunity to buy a ‘55 series one truck and breaks were a concern. Now I know what to do if I get the truck. Thanks
Someone is fixing an old truck up cool. I didn’t know they used to do the brakes like that under the floor looks like a pain to fix on. I bet those rods and covers got all corroded and were a pleasure to work on. Are you gonna put disc brakes on the truck too? Nice small block V8 and 4 speed stick shift and that’ll be sweet! Looks like lots of work before she runs the road again. You’re very thorough with your installation and your invisible buddy does a great job on his end too. Great video can’t wait to see next step!
Neat installation..... I guess it has better braking performance than the original setup
The oem setup was a single reservoir, meaning if you blew a wheel cylinder or hose on any corner you completely lose all of your brakes. A dual reservoir you only lose front or back.
Thanks! This video is awesome! Now I gotta get my lazy Butt off the couch and so this
It wasnt to difficult. Just pay attention to measurements.
Good information, thanks!
thanks for watching!!
Great video, I'm building a ls swap 49 3100 chevy
Yep. Thats what this 54 is that im doing for a customer. LS/4L60E/currie ford 9”. Good luck with your project
Thanks very well presented, great detail. please provide the part number for the booster and mounting kit. Thanks again.
perfect --im getting read to put cylinder on fire w booster and cylinder I think the kit you are using will work---so are using the 47 to 53 ? -working on 47 lincoln continental disc brakes front and rear- will that require a special preportoin valve - also who supplied your kit thanks excellent video thanks-does the fire need any reinforcement
I have a 1948 Chevy truck and the dual master cylinder is under the cab, want to do this to mine but would like to use the one you installed, would like not to mess with the dash.these trucks look the same.Yours looks like it would a lot easier, any thoughts?
they aren’t to difficult to install. the same company makes one that bolts into yours with the obvious exception of still having to drill holes in the firewall. they make it much easier to bleed and keep up with fluid levels.
Thanks ron
where did you get the steering column mount??
Drill one hole, put a bolt in it. Then drill the other 3. Holes have a tendency to be off, when using markers.
Your correct, have to be careful for sure.
@@BrokenWrenches I did the same thing on my 54, but I used junkyard parts. The bracket for the pedal assembly came from an 86 Astro van, pedal from a 94 Chevy Silverado. Master and booster , also from the Silverado. I watched the late Steve .The Idaho Fabricator. It worked out well.
Who makes this kit ? Where can I get it I have a 54 a.d. and just put a disc brake conversion on the front. Will it interfere with the cowl vent arm?
Performanceonline.com , and i don’t believe there is a clearance problem.
Caution on the POL kit. I got mine after watching this video - came damaged and it has been a long process working to get some help. The guy who answered the phone was a jerk then you email pictures to thier email and wait. Still waiting for a response. Decent kit as long as you get it undamaged, the customer service is sub par.
My imaginary buddy asked if this would work on a 56 3100 too?
Can you list the part number for the one that fits the 1950 model 3100 Please.
Sure. Its from ‘performance online’
BBXF-T4753
Its not recommended for stock steering column, they make a power booster setup for the stock location as well. I recommend calling them or carefully reading the info on the online catalog.
What mustang 2 kit did you go with?
This truck has the TCI setup with air bags and power steering rack
Any chance you have part numbers?
Can you please send me the part number on this brake pedal.
Thanks for watching. The 1 piece windshield trucks part number is…
BB4F-T5455
Brake switch number is
BLS-02
