This is a brilliant idea, have so missed you adventuring together, not that I don't love Paul's videos, but love the interaction between the two of you, and it's really nice to go for a walk with you pair.
Love the idea of a Paul and Rebecca Raw and Uncut seeing you both out and enjoying these interesting places that may or may not be enough for a documentary on the other channel.
Time Team have done a number of shows on the Solisbury Plain. The MOD have a program called Operation Nightingale, where they train veterans with PTSD or physical disabilities to do archaeology.
glad to see the OG lineup together again . Rebecca's train journeys and Paul's documentaries are good too, but the unscripted chemistry of the old married couple who are still best friends is delightful. (did you censor the tank? there's blackout !)
@@PaulTomblin They even stopped in ALL military training grounds. My only guess is that one recruit/soldier did their shovel recce and only dug a shallow hole and someone stepped in it.... Not because of archaeological reasons.
@@alastairmellor966 You could have put one of the terms in brackets (), then they would have known what if meant if they encountered the military term for it.
Thank you for taking us along on your very enjoyable unscripted family day out! Unlike Danebury, from memory the top of the Hill Fort is fenced off, but for those interested, it's a shorter walk if you park in Eden Road (Gate 17), which is off the A338 north of Tidworth. Although you don't pass the burial mounds on the Old Marlborough Road, you won't be in danger of getting run over by a low flying Chinook using the Everleigh Drop Zone.
Mixtape - love it! The documentaries are fantastic stuff and really well put together, but personally I was missing the videos of the two of you off on an adventure bantering away. Great to see them again!
Glad you have found this outlet for more show-up-with-a-GoPro-and-see-what-happens type content! I think we were discussing this on the Wessex Ways Podcast - it's so much less like "work" when there's only a single track on the timeline!
Love this. Love what you've done, and the success you've had with the other channel, but this really does have the feel of those videos back in the 10k days 😀
Shoulders is still used on motorways(hard shoulder) however it's not commonly used on smaller roads despite it still being technically correct. Loving the second channel, great idea!
Brilliant, loved the chatter and the walk of the casual style of the video. Didn't realize I missed it from the main channel. Do enjoy the Documentaries on the other channel too
It was great seeing you two do this sort of thing again! Incredible number of prehistoric monuments on this relatively short walk and aren't we lucky the MOD took over this land before the advent of industrial scale, intensive farming.
I used to walk my dog there, many times we explored the hill fort years ago before we moved away from Andover. I even used to drive up the military tracks on weekends (ignored the signs -oh naughty) to park up nearer the hill fort sometimes too. There's a lot of old history around there, a lot of it relatively untouched. If you come off the military land towards Everleigh village (which also has some history too), you can get a delicious, awesome meal in the Goa Balti. Well worth a visit to eat in or collect a take away. You are almost making me wish we'd not left Andover now .....
Spent a fair bit of time on Salisbury Plain and it is a strange enigmatic place, both beautiful and bleak verging on the bland at times. It certainly makes you wonder what the attraction was to build so many monuments and Stonehenge in particular there.
Excellent idea to produce these videos, Rebecca and Paul. Thank you: duly subscribed. When you get to my advanced years, there are never enough random countryside toilets!
I was a spectator at a tank firing on Salisbury Plain about 20 years ago. The firepower, engine power, accuracy & range of the tanks was quite astounding. I saw a big window panel in my van actually bend from the shockwave of air hitting it, I'd never seen glass bend before!
This video gives the public evidence that the military are doing their best to protect these ancient sites. Lets have more of these random videos of interesting sites we can visit.
Live in Bulford for 23 years and loved walking my dogs over the plain from the 70's to the 90's. Though from the current maps, there are areas that you can no longer walk due to more activity
Another place in the south where there is often nothing for miles is Dartmoor, with the added benefit that you don't have to stick to the paths. Still might be red flags flying 🚩 but unlikely to bump into a tank
If you want some steep shoulders, try the non-trunk roads of Zimbabwe - put a wheel off the road and you will find yourself upside-down and 6 foot below road level!
That would be a fossick. I’m not sure about Salisbury but on Dartmoor they only fly when they are firing in indeed it’s rather amusing on Woodbury common when going for a walk you have just left the car park and 30 off squaddies come by in full camouflage. Interested to see what a walk for Paul and Rebecca (apologies on spelling) away from the camera would be like.
Very enjoyable walk featuring many ancient barrows, the odd Portaloo and a tank on the horizon. A real mixture - taped. What will you encounter next time.
Love seeing you both together on screen again, great idea for the channel. Was looking forward to the next installment of Rebecca's A to Z, will this become part of the mix?
I've been here when i was younger as a cadet, i remember walking mile and miles as part of a duke of Edinburgh award and when i seen that portaloo it was a sight for sore eye's as i was dying for the toilet at the time as well 😂😂 i can say i took a dump in that 😂
"Steep Shoulders" sounds like a medical condition that would've kept you out of the army in WWII. "He wasn't allowed to join the army because he had flat feet and steep shoulders, so joined the Home Guard instead"...
is this one ofMOD open days i ocasionaly go up to Imber ,WHHuddsons favorit place,i should imagine it looked remarkable i went up on day and got chaced off by the sargent i must say it magic country side😊
6:56 I remember an old road sign on the A303 warning of ‘Soft shoulders’, to which someone had added the delightful ‘Warm thighs’!!
This is a brilliant idea, have so missed you adventuring together, not that I don't love Paul's videos, but love the interaction between the two of you, and it's really nice to go for a walk with you pair.
Loved this mixtape and great to see Rebecca again & look forward to further mixtapes😀
Rebecca's banter has been missed.
The military ranges have preserved so much. Nice video and good to see you both out.
glad to see the OG lineup together again . Rebecca's train journeys and Paul's documentaries are good too, but the unscripted chemistry of the old married couple who are still best friends is delightful. (did you censor the tank? there's blackout !)
hello Paul and Rebecca, nice to see you both together in a video again , well done and thank you both 😊
The portaloos are there because the Army are no longer allowed to dig latrine holes.
You mean "Shovel Recce"
@petermaddison6782 Yes, but I was trying use language a civilian would understand.
Is that because of all the unexploded munitions, or because of the archeology?
@@PaulTomblin They even stopped in ALL military training grounds. My only guess is that one recruit/soldier did their shovel recce and only dug a shallow hole and someone stepped in it.... Not because of archaeological reasons.

Great to see Rebecca again, fantastic to see you both out and about , really missed you guys. More please when you're ready.
Enjoyed the stress free walk in the country side.
That was FUN! More of them please. Great to see Rebecca too.
Thanks as always
😊😊😊
I was lucky that when I was at Tidworth to spend off duty time walking around the Hill Fort, thank you for posting this

Cheers Tweedy. Absolutely. Actually quite refreshing to make this!
Such a nice thing to come home from work to. Good to see both of you again.
Loving the direction of the channel. Cannot wait to go exploring a million little places of interest 🥰😍❤️

I wonder why the Portaloos were not camouflaged,
So refreshing seeing you both out enjoying life, please keep them coming.
There are similar signs on the Otterburn ranges in Northumberland to protect scheduled ancient monuments - I presume from military digging exercises!
Hey, this is great! I've missed the waffly chat-type videos. But YT took weeks to show it to me! Now subscribed...
Very fun & enjoyable rambling adventure! Looking forward to more mixed tape entries!
It works! I really like the natural feel. I do enjoy maps and photos as well, but this does work for you!
Love the new channel. Gives us an insight into a day out with Paul and Rebecca, uncut and unedited... and how about a few bloopers at the end 👍🤣🤣
This was quite good. Great to see Rebecca again as well as the interaction between you. Looking forward to the next one.
It was great seeing you two do this sort of thing again!

Great natural walk. Loved the portaloo. Great scenery. Looking forward to next episode. Thank you.

Wow, My second home, I had 24 Years of training on that land .
Perfect start! Good, missed you all going out doing things together. Enjoy, and i bet the subs go sky high now.
Love the new format. Nice and laid back. Look forward to the next one
Oh goodie! Love to hear you both together. Waiting for the next race home or wherever 😊
'SOFT SHOULDER' is the term you were looking for Paul for the grass verge on dual carriageways..
And HARD one to stop on 😊
Great idea, looking forward to more.
Nice :) , have fun you always visit fun or interesting places

Just found this video. Good to see you in the same video again. I’ll be waiting for more.
It's nice to see you both out having fun together and taking us all along, too.
How terriffic to see you guys together again. Lovely film, thanks.
Salisbury plain has the largest concentration of ancient burial mounts in the whole of Europe
Love that.
That portaloo was funny to see 😂 enjoyed the mixtape and would had loved to see the tank
Loved it … random walks and talks is great… you never know how it ends up 👍👋⚔️👏😎⭐️⭐️
I love this. So prefer your laid back videos that are still jammed packed with history and knowledge. Great to see Rebecca too 👋🙂
You would think a small country with so many people would be a bit dense. Like the new channel
I would horse ride around Sidbury hillfort, the views you see from the top is amazing, loved riding all over Salisbury plain
This video gives the public evidence that the military are doing their best to protect these ancient sites. Lets have more of these random videos of interesting sites we can visit.

the banter is delightful. thx guys.
Loved this! Great to see you both together again! ❤
Great waffle walk, really enjoyed it.
I like the no music, just walking and talking.
Never heard od Sidbury Hill. Looked at the map and it says it is open 24hr all week. Looking at the tracks I suppose you have to find the right one!
That was quite fun! Thank you!
Lol. Join Paul and Rebecca as they travel around the countryside pointing out random Portaloos... 😉
Great stuff, enjoyed that Thanks.

Love the new channel 😂💪
Excellent vid..😀👍
Really enjoyed this thanks
love the silly ness keep it coming
Keep it up the Whitewicks just being the Whitewicks Brilliant

i really enjoyed watching this
We dont really know what we're doing ..... 😂
Love the planned videos, but also love the less planned as well
Very enjoyable walk featuring many ancient barrows, the odd Portaloo and a tank on the horizon. A real mixture - taped. What will you encounter next time.
I can't think of another couple I'd rather have a walk and a chat with.
"Naughty man, did I sound a bit camp?" PMSL

Geniarse. Sorry. Someone had to say it. Love you two.
You should go across the training area in August when they open it to the public and can then see the hulks of the destroyed tanks.
"Steep Shoulders" sounds like a medical condition that would've kept you out of the army in WWII.
"He wasn't allowed to join the army because he had flat feet and steep shoulders, so joined the Home Guard instead"...
Quirky and stoopid is good.
More like this Paul
All motorways still have shoulders.
If you wanna be a Barrow-Boy, the first thing you’ve gotta get is a Barrow.
The portaloos were rescued from iraq and afghanistan as art objects by the military members. Most of the art is phallic, but that's beside the point.
Hi I love this video
is this one ofMOD open days i ocasionaly go up to Imber ,WHHuddsons favorit place,i should imagine it looked remarkable i went up on day and got chaced off by the sargent i must say it magic country side😊
Like it!
Did you self censor the tank out of the video? The screen went blank when you referred to it?
Frustratingly I went to zoom in and couldn't see it. The GoPro has an 8mm lense so captures nothing more than 10 ft away!
There are probably some no fly zones on the MOD land but shame you didn't get the drone up to look where you couldn't walk.
Good fun.
IIRC the whole of the SPTA is a no-fly zone for civvy drones.
Should do some geocaching if things go wrong :D
Stick to the roads, stay off the moors 🐺
😊👍❤️
Would posting the GPS coordinates be "a thing" on this channel? It would help we Americans get a sense where that road is. Armchair traveling.
Maybe Barrows were actually Bronze Age Portaloos!

Foiled by the MoD...

more qweerky :)
hello you two
