      I know, it sounds bad but what you can't see is that to the right of me some of my fellow competitors shot a total of 8 targets that were 200-12x and better including several 200-17x. It's a tough group I shoot with. Keep in mind in winter league I was 6th place shooting with an average of 16.5 X's. So you have to shoot 17x or better to even have a chance of winning.

    I really appreciate your voice over videos and the knowledge you share. Would you do a version of a video like this where you talk about aiming strategies and potential pitfalls and tips? Thank you for your time, energy and money spent educating those of us who don't have the means to test/learn behind the trigger!

    Now this is the kind of videos i love. Thanks John!!! . Nice shooting . Question: seems to me like you started to press your shoulder against the buttstock from 16th shot, i say this be cause of the recoil i'm watching, anyway, your last 5 shots grouped better it seems to me, am i right?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah a little. I had two jackets because of the cold so I think the jacket was migrating towards the end. Accident or not, I'd agree there was slightly less free recoil towards the end and the group was just a little better.

      Hello, here are your two best resources for long range matches. We only have two ranges in Oregon that can go past 600 yards and these are them. www.douglasridge.org/hipower_rifle.html and www.cossapark.com/central-oregon-precision-riflemen i’m a member of Douglas Ridge but shoot a couple times a year out at Cossa as well.

    Hello, Could you let me know what base you have on your TRex front rest ? It looks polished and is it from Rodzilla ? Thank you

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 роки тому +1

      It’s a custom aluminum base. It shaved something like 5 or 7 pounds off the total weight for me. Really expensive to have made unfortunately.

    • @stepthemann
      @stepthemann 2 роки тому

      @@FClassJohn Thank you Sir for the quick response. In shaving off the 5-7 lbs, you decreased the weight of the rest to around 14-16 lbs (ball park). With this reduction in weight, is the rest stable during your shot strings ? And did Rodzilla fabricate the aluminum rest ? ( I shoot bench rest and am thinking about ordering the Trex)

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 роки тому +1

      @@stepthemann I think I’m at about 16-17 with BR bag and without my sand feet on it. It wasn’t made by Rod. It was just a friend with a CNC machine. Plenty stable but in all fairness I would’ve kept the weight if I was only shooting off a bench. I only shaved the weight because I fly a lot.

    What is the best way to get informed about competitions ? I'd appreciate any help.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 роки тому +1

      It's honestly pretty tough. You can go to forum.accurateshooter.com/forums/competition-forum-all-calibers.3/ or fclass.info and see if there's anything around you.

    • @andy347495
      @andy347495 2 роки тому +1

      To say it's tough is a little misleading and discouraging(not intentionally of course). It's actually really easy to get a rifle and go to a match. the best way to get informed and the best thing you could do, is to go over to accurate shooter forum and ask what the basic equipment is you need, then throw your stuff in the car and go to a match. There will be plenty of people there willing to help you. That's what I ended up doing and realized I wasted a bunch of time reading and trying to practice at the range.

      @@andy347495 Yeah I know what you mean and I’m sorry if that’s how it came off. The point I was trying to make is that F class is pretty disjointed compared to other disciplines like PRS for instance. The F class info website that I listed is the first real attempt to centralize all of the match data and I hope it works to be honest. I remember when I was starting out it was just really tough to get information on anything and it just became a game of who you know and what matches they were aware of and you kept building on it.
