As someone who's never shot groups at this distance nor handled a really good set up like yours I found this absolutely fascinating! I can't believe how stable you are to be honest! Please more videos like this !
Thank you and don't worry, plenty more of these videos coming.
Excellent video John. Thank you so much !!!
Glad you liked it!
Nice John, Enjoyed this very much. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great Video
I like the triggercam and shotmarker format. Can't wait to see 1k with condition. Do you see the camera as a tool to review for yourself or just to share videos? Best part is hearing your name and then dropping a 9. Thanks for sharing your videos!
John rear bag pressure on that tall group that's the only thing I can think that vihtavuori 550 is a great performing powder for hunting grounds but I have found vertical with it also
How is the view behind the trigger cam? Can you notice a loss of light?
I've been thinking of picking one of these up so I can have it stream to my phone and help me teach my kids to shoot. The opportunity to see what they see, and to point to things on screen seems like a great way to help total beginners.
I found this very interesting.
Glad you enjoyed it
Is there inconsistent on stock shouldering? Recoil jumps are in pattern of hits.
Good place to evaluate using the mean radius rather than just the group diameter, that way you get both pieces of information but you also use all the shots in MR rather than just the extremes.
Agreed and agreed.
Are the conditions to shoot better at night ? Winds are typically lighter at night .
John love that you show us these test. I noticed your point of aim was the same! Was there any light changes or wind conditions from behind that could have took those shots out the top or bottom. I sometimes don’t see the light changes in short range Benchrest and get the same effect. Then my shooting buddy says he saw the change ,he is still in the ones and I am now in the big twos.
Anything is possible at this club because it's an old quarry so there's all kinds of weirdness that happens. In all fairness I should've aimed at one of the smaller numbers because it's not always great to aim center since it's a 3 inch circle so there's always some room for error. Not my finest testing but I still wanted to share it. Plenty more videos like this to come and I will show my normal aiming point next time.
How small is the small white circle? Man how do you keep the reticle so still? I’m too shaky.
So, the difference in ES is resulting in the vertical difference of the group when you compared them?? Less control over velocity with what you changed???
Can you explain how you shoot at night ? I’m interested. Do you have a light set up to see the target , or is the range lit up?
We have red lights we turn on at the firing line and then floodlights down in the pits that light up the targets. We shoot every Tuesday rain, shine or snow because of the lights and covered firing line.
How do you balance testing vs barrel life? There are so many variables and so many rounds necessary to get statistically significant results, it would be so easy to test so much that there isn't much barrel life left over to compete with!
Sometimes I just have a barrel for testing different things compared to actually tuning up a barrel which is totally different or I’ll wait until a barrel isn’t one I use for matches anymore and I’ll test on that.
Hi John really enjoy your videos, quick comment are you level there?
Nope it's off just a little. I have a new rest and forgot to level it before starting and didn't want to change it once I started.
How do you record on shot marker. I have that system. That would be nice
It would just be a screen capture recording
I think you hold within 1 inch of center bull every time.
If you slow it down to .25 there is some interesting if not useful information in the difference how the gun recoils on each shot compared to POI.
Barrel tuning could be in order.
Whatever noise that is in the background enough to kick me off
Sounds like someone had a barrel cooler running.
John, complete noob here. Sorry. What's a 'sighter'? And what's a 'blow-off' round? Wish you would make a short video or link a website that explains the rules of Fclass.
really nice video and explaination. noticed you rushed your shots. your camera shows that where you had the cross hairs on the target your bullet hit, this is not a critisizm
Yeah that's fair and no offense taken. I was freezing (it was 24 degrees out) and did rush a little.
