Ruby Grande Butera Lemon juice is very bad for lips! If u have a cut it will sting a lot! Also it makes your lips more dry xx

This is by far the most effective lip balm I've ever used. It feels like it actually penetrates dry lips and keeps them moisturized for a while instead of just sitting on the surface giving temporary relief.

Finally made this! Didn’t have the hirulip (so I added an extra 0.1g to the oil phase - decreased the jojoba to 1g and added 0.6g plum oil) nor the coq-10 (substituted sea buckthorn fruit oil), added a titch of lovely, pearlescent fuschia mica. Used spearmint E.O.
It’s the BOMB of BALMS! Love it. Thanks for another great recipe, Marie. 🐝
Oh, and I used mango butter instead of Shea. Will stick with Shea next time as mango is a little more dry as far as butter goes; for a lip product, I think Marie’s original suggestion is probably better.

From Sydney Australia. This lip mask is, in a word, in-cred-i-ble. My lips are dry 24/7. All. The. Bloody. Time. This lip mask has been the only thing that works. Managed to get my hands on the Hilurlip. It's really cool. I'll ditch the peppermint next time and just use a lip sweetener and a pineapple lip balm fragrance instead (or mandarin or rose passionfruit). THANK YOU, MARIE. You're a legend.

Please if anybody knows!! How do you add a small amount of water soluble extract into a completely oil based formula? what solubilizers? even with this recipe, i notice my final batch days later, the hyaluronic acid solution bubbles onto the surface and i can see little droplets of the water on top of my lip product. HELP

Hi Marie. I only have oil based hyaluronic acid. Will it work also? Because your hilurlip has peptide in it.
Please refer to the blog :) "I don’t recommend using hyaluronic acid in its place; the concentration and particle size are both so small as to be very hard (if not impossible) to replicate at home."
I have liquid lanolin,will that work here? I hope so! I purchased some of the other ingredients you listed off of your blog post but must of missed the type of lanolin needed! Thank you for sharing. I can’t wait to make this 😊
Hmm. I don't think so. A lot of the gooey/rich consistency of this product comes from the gooey richness of regular lanolin, and you'd lose that with the liquid stuff :(

I really cant use lanolin as it isnt sold in my country, is there really no substitute?
You could try hydrogenated castor oil, I guess? I would recommend trying a different recipe of mine, though-I have tons of lip balm recipes that don't use lanolin 😊 www.humblebeeandme.com/make-lip-balm/

Sadly no, for 2 reasons:
1) It's in my book, and I cannot give away book recipes on the internet
2) Foundation is rarely truly an organic thing because almost everything that makes it function are inorganic minerals.

It's a big ol' "it depends". How much is "too much"? 10x too much? Probably need to start over. 2% too much? That's probably fine. It depends!

It could definitely help; I know the hilurlip is marketed saying it "minimizes fine vertical lines of the lips" so I would think that should extend to lines around the mouth as well :)

I put it in a tube, SUCCESS! I made sure to get one with a much larger hole than the typical lipgloss tube.

I'd recommend starting off with the big "Substitutions" list at the end of the partner blog post, but please also take the time to read through the Humblebee & Me Encyclopedia posts for each ingredient as well. There is a TON of information in the encyclopedia to help you understand what an ingredient is, why it's used, the job it's performing in any given formulation, and what ingredient(s) you might be able to use instead.
If, after looking through all of those resources, you still can't assemble a collection of ingredients that will allow you to make some version of the formulation, then I'm afraid that formulation may not be for you. It's an unfortunate reality that not all ingredients are available in all parts of the world. I have shared over 1200 formulations on Humblebee & Me since launching in 2011, so I would recommend looking for something similar that uses ingredients you can get. Please use the main menu on the website (www.humblebeeandme.com/) or search for more general terms (for example, "lip balm" rather than "sticky coconut lip balm") at www.humblebeeandme.com/search/. It sounds like this is not the formulation for you if you are looking to eliminate all but 3 of the 11 ingredients. Please reference my Nourishing Lip Mask for a simpler formulation :)

What is the difference between a lip mask and lip balm?
Lip masks are typically richer and might be a bit thicker/shinier... that said, I 100% wear lip masks as lip balm 'cause it's crazy dry where I am!
