    My suggestions are as follows
    1.Tapping new customer base by having financial tie ups with local banks….As this is the case with apple and other premium brands in India and around the world
    2.Having a seasonal sale with limited edition models
    3.Creating a gearing community and pulling out people to join the club will make them more enthusiastic in getting one(such as RE)
    4.Launching a low priced scooter or motorcycle will erode the high brand image of HD.Introducing an off brand to target the female customers will ward off the threats in short term and build its position strongly in long term

    For the steel part:- i would suggest them to consider buying steel futures contract for far month expiry in order to hedge against the potential price increase of steel. This can be an effective strategy if the prices increase and will eliminate the rise in cost of production due to rising steel prices.
    For the sales part:- i think Harley should keep selling the bikes at the current proce. If they start selling their bikes at higher price, it will affect the market share of the company which is the most important asset for a company. They can gradually raise prices throughout the years in order to improve their profit margins.

    To keep the steel cost intact : my recommendation would be to have a fixed price contract and that would eventually come if the firm has a good relationship with their current supplier

    • @snsias8541
      @snsias8541 2 роки тому

      Give the volatile times of global economy, Most of the companies [raw material supplier] will try to achieve inflation indexing to meet production targets, minimize employee attrition etc., So, fixed price contract seems a bit utopian here.
      Please do share your views on this.
      Thanks in advance.

      The point here is renewal of contract, not steel price, that’s already determined by market.

    First of all thanks for the video. My recommendations would be - Harley should increase their pricing for a better margin, but it adversely effect the revenue of domestic bikes segment as well as replacement parts segment( Harley can market the premium play of their brand). The marketing should also be focused towards community building which would help increase merchandise sales. The increased margin would help mitigate the rising cost of steel and would help keep the margins high. These coupled with some of yours points was my first instinct recommendations. Thanks again! Keep up the Good work.

    The statement says that the stock price has fell, this has nothing to do with profits. I guess it should be under root cause analysis.

    Please tell from where or from which platform to learn financial modeling & valuations which also have relevant live projects in the end. I think being a bcom(h) graduate and future mba aspirant this is really important course. Please recommend the best source. There are lot of sources available out there in which some are genuine and some are not genuine. Your husband (whose I am great fan of) is investment banker so you are the best person to asked from.

    Quick Question : Why the consulting MBB firms don't hire from NIT TRICHY ? Inspite of being a top engineering school
    Only this year Bain hired the President of 180D Consulting club for Associate position and one more guy for analyst in PE
    Does this sign show BAIN will hire in subsequent placement years ?

    Hey Soumi, thank you for this case video. I have 1 query here regarding the situation when we're discussing about whether to increase/decrease the volume of sales. There should we disclose our analysis of both the scenarios like what will happen if we'll increase the price & sell lesser number i.e 275k bikes & what will happen when we sell the same 330k number of bikes ? Like should we share both the approaches or should we share only one ? Coz if we are sharing both, then won't the interviewer think I, myself am confused in this. So should we share both the sides of production or only one ?

    • @InsiderGyaan
      @InsiderGyaan  2 роки тому +3

      Hey - you should always explain the thought process. Weigh pros and cons of both then make a recommendation. Thats the purpose of a case

    For short term harley should sell their unit at international market
    But for long term company should increase their price as the targeting audience for harley is Men with high testosterone and harley should more focus on Quality of customer not on quantity of customer
    For Women they should launch a model which reflect the personality of girls with high Estrogen
    Their bike should sell an emotion to customer so that they can over pay us
