Despite being a finance, economics, and real estate professor in NUS, he was not discussing any trade offs and only making a one-sided argument in favor of PAP's policies. In any fiscal policy, government is able to raise tax, increase borrowing, tap past reserves, or a combination of the above. The PAP argument against using more of past reserves, because it constitutes to spending money of future generation, is illogical because there will always be a future generation as long as society exits. Are we then not ever going to touch on past reserves? If so, then what is the purpose of past reserves? The opportunity cost of borrowing is low since Singapore government can borrow cheaply in the market due to their high credit rating. Taxation is a complex subject and higher taxes may not translate into higher government revenue. We have Laffer curve, deadweight loss of taxation, higher inflation, etc. Also, why is the question of cutting spending on widely discussed? Higher medical spending benefits mostly PAP's core political base(seniors) at the expense of all other Singaporeans. Can the seniors pay for their own healthcare spending instead? Finally, Singaporeans can always vote out PAP in the upcoming GE if they do not agree with the government's spending plans. Tax laws can be repealed or amended with a opposition majority in Parliament. Singaporeans need not accept higher tax and increase budget constraint as a given.
There is a need to call into question the credibility of Professor Sumit. NUS should do a review of his credentials to make sure he is legitimate. There were past incidents of professors(eg Huang Jing) in universities acting as proxy for foreign governments and helping to brainwash Singaporeans. Urge the student body to subject Professor Sumit to the highest level of skepticism or drop his class altogether and seek out a better professor.

COE: How to explain the DROP in COE when Zero Car Growth policy was announced at end 2017? COE was low from 2018 till early 2022, hor.
HDB: Aren't all citizens allowed to sell and keep the profits? Aren't all citizens allowed to rent out rooms and keep the profits?
Petrol: Petrol is traded in USD, and the petrol tax is small compared to the traded price inflation.
GST: Foreigners working and living in SG also pay GST. Also, the rich pay more than you.
So, it is complaining singaporeans who have too much cash and too little common sense who have caused inflation, right?

    John 14:6
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
    Romans 10:9-10, 13
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved… 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
    Acts 16:31
31 …”Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved”…
    Mark 1:15
15 “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
    John 3:16-18
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
    John 3:36
36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
    Acts 4:11-12
11 Jesus is “‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ 12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
    1 John 5:11-13
11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
    1 John 4:10
10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
    Philippians 2:9-11
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
    2 Corinthians 5:21
21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
    Matthew 10:32-33
32 “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.”
    1 John 4:15
15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.
    1 Peter 2:24
24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
    Hebrews 9:27-28
27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
