SeLENA B 🙌🏾 haha I’ve watch 4x Times now, and the first time I saw or heard of her was very late last night This is like Tina Turner singing with the Beetles band 😁
I think im in love? her voice is so powerful, I have an auditory processing disorder and this genre can be really difficult for me to understand (like, I have a difficult time understanding what words are being said) and it's like she's completely bypassing my SPD and just pouring music right into my brain, what a gift! what a charismatic lady, I love her style!
I was thrilled to see Yola on Tiny Desk. She deserves this format. That voice of hers- I feel every word. “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” ― Bob Marley
It's amazing how she sings with such a very distinction Detroit Motown accent...and speaks with a British one. It's amazing....very Aretha Franklin early days mixed with a little country feeling. Nice.
YOLA is an absolute Queen- I’m so in love!!! I’m so stoked to see her on my favorite tiny desk concert. I’m a gal who is from TX and has always claimed to “hate country music” yet Yola has honestly stolen my heart!!!
Her range is fantastic. Honestly, just so happy I’m privileged to hear her and live in this era of music because we get all the wonders of the past and innovations of today. Love this band! Yola is an absolute queen
I saw her several times at Newport Folk Festival in 2019: She was deservedly a favourite guest on other people's stages as well as her own set. Her voice on The Highwomen's track "Highwomen" makes the song.
U.K. in the house!! 🙋🏾♀️🙋🏾♀️ I really, really enjoyed that. Yola is a “beast” with her vocals. The music style is not usually my “cup of tea” but Yola and musicians stopped me in my tracks and made me appreciate. Thanks 👌🏽👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks Tiny Desk for exposing me to wonderful artists whom I never knew existed. I’ve never heard of Yola but that first song immediately made me think of a scene in a movie. Curious observation: Yola sings with a southern American English accent but actually speaks with a British accent. Fascinating!
She is from Bristol England. I have seen her a few times playing in the UK with her bands. Thrilled to have met & spoken to her after one gig. The greatest singer my country has ever produced.
Listen. I haven't even listened to this yet. Of course I am after I finish here. But for the love of Pete, I had to pause and pay homage to this fabulous hair!!!!!😍😍😍😍😍
LOVE!!!! When I first heard her on the radio, I didn't know if I was listening to a classic song from the 70s I never heard, or something new and unique.
I am so happy that funk, R&B, and even disco are coming back in force! Amazing voice, sweet spirit, and what a command of presence Yola has!!! I'm hooked!!!
ThroughTheNarrows0920 Hi, You can't help but dance to it! I never liked disco, and never will. As you can see, I'm from the 60's. That's only My opinion. And we all have one :-) Peace
her and the band are so lovely. her voice is very soothing when singing and speaking i'm soo hoping at some point in her life she does some sort of narration because i could listen to her for hours. I saw her live and i recommend going :) she was sold out in D.C.!! so happy for her
Yola baby! You hit me where it means something. Love the music love that country thing but you you bring the kind of soul that makes you more. I am thrilled touched and a little bit in love❤
Wow Yola is amazing !!! 👏👏👏😍🌹🌹🌹💖 She made me excited a lot !! Great voice, beautiful, intense, energetic, exciting! Congratulations! I love his music. Thanks so much!! 🇮🇹😘💖🎶🎶🎹🎸🎤👏👏👏😉
@Caterina Carlone ciaoo Caterina ahaha!!
If i close my eyes and listen I could swear I hear some of the same notes that Lauryn Hill would hit on Miseducation of Lauryn Hill........and that's not a bad thing. When Lauryn came around thought she was a great new talent with an old school vibe mixed with a some newer style and it looks like Yola is the same thing. Very exciting to see........I gotta keep my eye on Yola for sure.
Yola was discussed on a podcast I love (any other Wonderful fans here?) and so I had to check her out- she's incredible! The joy in this whole video is lovely
Is this her real band or collage students that do session music on the side. ? Their very good but looks like they need nourishment like a good cooked three course meal every now and then & clothes washed . She's a superstar with a natural vocal . Big voice .
Who never herd of her, but she's your new obsession.

Isn't she lovely and amazing! Here b/c of Highwomen. Wish she was a permanent component.
I have to say this isnt really my type of music BUT I throughly enjoyed it because this lady has such an amazing voice!!
SAME!
period!!!!!!!!
Same! I don't really like country music but if all country musicians looked and sounded like her I'd LOVE it!
She is straight out of Woodstock. That’s her soul..You gotta put yourself there.
Typical average Black person of 2020: no taste in music. Then we wonder why mainstream music is 👎🏽 its because of niccas like y’all

It's nice when country music is actually country music, instead of "twang-pop".
I've watched this 456,781 during quarantine I DON'T WANNA LIE TO YA
New fan. Ready to start rewatching again and again.
Soulful country music is in good hands again.
*sigh of relief*

She makes me feel like it's the summer of '69 and I wasn't even born til the 80's !
Is THAT IT? I was around in 69- I heard this woman and I went crazy!
Listened to the Highwomen song and heard her on this, needed more. Got exactly what I expected, soul!!!!
I saw her several times at Newport Folk Festival in 2019: She was deservedly a favourite guest on other people's stages as well as her own set. Her voice on The Highwomen's track "Highwomen" makes the song.
I agree!
Thanks I will check out that track.
Brandi Carlisle brought me here!
2020 Grammy best new artist nomination brought me here.loving her musical storytelling.
Her & the band give me Ike & Tina vibes with a country twang!

There's just something about a black person that no combination of 26 letters can ever describe 😊💯💯
After reading your comment, I said out loud I like that!❤❤👏🏽
Some people try harder, tho.
@tech obsessed those are the few that don't understand how lucky they are
Nice...the first song...classy Roberta Flack style
This woman's vocal cords are gold-plated 😫😭😭😭😭😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Holly mother of god...this is amazing.
When I saw the hair,
I know I would get the soul.
Right!
Where is the soul? this is pop from across the pond trying to find some soul good but not anything special.

I’m feeling a little Tina Turner coming from this Queen
I hear Tina and Gladys Knight!
What country really looked like in the beginning" if you know what i mean"
When those BVs came in I'm like whoooah..what a rush..was not expecting that..this is proper refreshing..and she's a bRit like me.
british?
Yes I do know what you mean. I thought the same thing. Loved it.
It ain’t easy to move my emotions but Yolo you make me shiver.

Another performance and engineering that can only be described like, “GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY, THAT’S FINE!!!”
I had the immense pleasure of seeing Yola live last week. She really sounds good live as she does on record.
Me too loved her show sooo much.
True
I saw her in Dallas the other night. Fantastic show!
one of the best singers ever heard. her passion for the lyric is unmatched.
Brilliant! I love the intimacy of the Tiny Desk concert. Cheers to Yola and the band.
Whew. This was like being in a warm, dimly lit library on a cold, cloudy day.
She sounds so beautiful! Love her fro!
I'm picking up what she's putting down for sure.
Why am I just discovering Yola! Her voice is amazing!
Like a breath of fresh air. This is the NEW new!

Yola baby! You hit me where it means something. Love the music love that country thing but you you bring the kind of soul that makes you more. I am thrilled touched and a little bit in love❤
She is so beautiful ❤️
More please. Yola's voice is like Janis Joplin meets Aretha Franklin meets Tanya Tucker and I never knew I wanted that so much.
69 people have been cleaning their ears too much and they've damaged their ear drums... That are they're heathens and have no taste/soul 👍🏼
A beautiful energetic voice full of soul and with a calibrate control. Thanks for your hard work on this pleasent sounds Yola and band!
That just blew my mind.
SHE’S AMAZING
Love It ** All the Songs, Awesome Voice 💗 Never heard of her before**💗💗
"I Don't Wanna Lie" is my new jam. I love that song.
If “sang girl sang “ was a person
That tele sounds great, keys are right on and, of course, Yola’s voice is pure butta!
JUST discovered her watching a Fourth of July concert happening in Houston, Texas. I have to hear everything. Immediately.
I like her more after hearing her speak with an accent from the UK.
Oh my god. I absolutely love her, she's bringing back such soul to the music industry! Keep growing girl!
Love her and a fellow Black Bristolian. Cheers ✊🏽
i really liked her voice , but i loved her spontaneity !
It's giving 70s Roberts Flack 💚💚💚 Nicole Byer sent me here.
Her voice immediately reminded me of Roberta Flack - but the more you listen, the more you appreciate it's hers alone!
loved this! what a singer, great sound, great songs, great band - and my god last song!!! wowowow - go on Bristol sound!
I'm so speechless right now
I don't know what to say
God has given her such a beautiful gift
best singer. I thought she was Dusty Springfield when I first heard her.
Daniel Creamer on the keys! This dude rules. He’s been playing with Shakey Graves.
Yola was my mom’s name . This is the first time I saw someone with her name.
Who else made bets on the guitar strap not getting over that powerful Afro?
Stunningly beautifully awesomely amazingly FANTASTIC !
And then there was YOLA!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
It ain't easier was referring to the voice you need to have to perform the song live. I was amazed.... :o
Yola and Chris Stapleton collaboration, please?!!

Wow - a girl can dream 💜 that would be insane
The second I heard her voice...I thought of Stapleton.

She sounds incredible. And is that Haley Joel Osment on guitar?
What A Pleasant Surprise! Love this type of music.
How does Carrie Underwood make it without Yolas talent. Yola got it ALL! and more.

Ah, yeah, "I Don't Wanna Fight No More". That's what it was making me think of.
I saw her in concert 2 weeks ago in Toronto. Amythyst Kiah opened for her and they both rocked the house.
