      Cell service is strong. Not necessarily a good thing, but getting service is not an issue at all. I'm actually posting this from one of the remote backcountry sites on cannisbay 😅

    Hi Ben and Cheryl, we've been watching your UA-cam videos for a couple years now and love them! Great tips on all sorts of subjects. You gave us the idea to try some of the smaller and less popular campgrounds so this year that's what we're doing (especially given how difficult it's been to book sites in the last couple of years). Happy Camping to you both in 2023 and maybe we'll see you this summer!

      Thanks for letting us know. So many flock to the big parks but there are a ton of smaller parks that are awesome. Since we've been doing these reviews we've really fallen in love with the smaller, quieter parks. Parks like Bonnechere, Murphy's Point, Charleston Lake. They're small but are fantastic. Happy camping!

    Last summer I was looking to book a site in Algonquin for my now-annual summer camping vacation. I wanted to give a walk-in site a try at Canisbay in the Radio Free loop but wasn't sure which one. Then I saw the footage of Site 57 that you have at 3:38 in your video and I fell in love with the site and booked it. I stayed there for the week leading up to Labour Day weekend and it was absolute heaven🥰🌳.
    Now this year I will be camping there on Site 57 again at the end of July for the entire week leading up to the August Civic Holiday long weekend. Thanks so much for all of your content and for having a part in my making wonderful memories at Algonquin 🥰🌳

    We’ve been enjoying your reviews a lot….as we count down the remaining weeks before spring (2022) you guys are ‘real’ and we appreciate the down to earth reviews you have posted….they’re very helpful and it’s giving us some great plans for the next ‘camping year’! We live between the Piney and Point Farms so all these great places are well within striking range for short visits! Hope to run into you this summer to thank you in person for your excellent contribution to our understanding on all the wonderful Ontario Provincial Parks! Keep up the great work! Thanks for the kind words. We love our Ontario Parks and get some real enjoyment out of making the video reviews. Sorry that the video was a little quick in the Visitor Centre. If you thought it was quick in this video you would really hate the hyper lapse video of the same visitor centre in our Pog Lake video. Hopefully we'll run into each other in a park in the near future. Happy camping!

    Up date for you. The water tap by the comforted station at Canisbay Lake has been ground down so you can no longer screw a hose on to it, 😔 but the good news is that they have started building an dump/water filling station at the entrance to Canisbay Lake and they hope to have it completed by the end of 2025. 🥳. GREAT video. We are heading up on Thursday for a week. Thanks for the tip in regards to the water tap, will save us some time for sure. ALSO, we have the same dining shelter your friends have. Right down to the carpet, table and remote control light. LOL Its the perfect tent. We have spent 6 weeks in Ontario parks this summer and every single day someone has come onto our site to ask about the tent. AND.....Great idea as well in regards to the dump station at Arrowhead. THANKS AGAIN.

    • @CampingwiththeColes
      @CampingwiththeColes  3 роки тому +1

      Our friends said that people always ask them about their Clam shelter. It was our first time really seeing one and I was very impressed. It's a little pricey but you get what you pay for. If you're going to Arrowhead to dump and you have a black water flush on your trailer just beware that the hoses are not threaded. So unless you have some kind of hack to attach a threaded part to it, you want be able to use it. I just checked the Fall Colour Report for Algonquin and the maple colours are peaking right now. You'll get a great show of colours going on Thursday. Happy camping!

    • @673Piper

      @@CampingwiththeColes non threaded hoses are a pain I just purchased a Ryobi 320 PSI power sprayer. Runs on their batteries and comes with a 20 ft hose to put in a bucket for a water source. Going to try it tonight through the toilet itself. See if it is useful when no threaded hose.

    Does this park stay busy right up to the end of the season in October? I assume the non electrified sites in campground 1 & 2 would be quieter as not so many are willing to stick it out in a tent relying on batteries or their fire to stay warm. Pog, Kearney and I forget the other.... one further down south from 60, you do have do in person check in as it is contracted out to some other operators. Algonquin need to update the email to reflect that.
    Wait, you can use Algonquin park pass at arrowhead?

    • @CampingwiththeColes
      @CampingwiththeColes  3 роки тому +1

      Any provincial park pass is good for all provincial parks as long as it's still valid. We were just at Earl Rowe PP and went to Mono Cliffs PP hiking and used our Earl Rowe vehicle permit so we didn't have to buy a day pass at Mono Cliffs. It was so busy that the wardens were actually turning away cars but let us in because they reserve a few spots for Earl Rowe campers. So if there is a big lineup at your dump station you can go to another PP to dump, if there's one on your way home. Happy camping!

      @@CampingwiththeColes If you don't mind me asking few more questions.
      Say for 1 night campgroup reservation, basically it is from 2PM to 2PM next day but as long I pre-register I can start enjoying the park from early morning of checking in date and later afternoon of check out date, right? other than the camp site itself obviously.
      Finally, if we are allow use permit from any PP to any other Ontario PP, wouldn't people abuse the system to get to different PP? since OntarioParks placed a limit per day for visitors?
      Again, keep up your videos... very helpful to explorer new OntarioParks visually from a actual user.

      I've noticed a few Tesla's in the parks this camping season. I've never noticed any in the past. Sandbanks Provincial Park actually has an EV charging station at one of the comfort stations. Not sure if it's compatible with a Tesla though.

    What kind of kayaks are they?

      We have Pelican kayaks purchased from Costco years ago. They don't make our exact model anymore. They have similar ones still though. They are sturdy, tough and relatively inexpensive. Excellent for little trips exploring lakes.
