Hi guys just came across your channel and enjoyed your videos. The name of the street is Aluth Kade street ( translated is new shop street) Dolphin kothu is the style the roti has been used to make the dish ( ripped roti) and not the protein . Best kothu is made of beef. Kasa-kasa is poppy seeds. Biryani there are 2 styles. You should also try the Sinhala yellow rice made with coconut milk and any meat you like. (Best served wrapped in banana leaves). 😊

Don't forget that their cuisine is the most underrated one among all the cuisines. It has everything. Spicy, sweet, salty, sour etc. After I tried their dishes now I don't feel anything about whatever I eat. Especially not just dumb piece of bread with peanut butter and bacon. For a country literally off the coast of India the level of hygiene is like from another universe in SL lol India always gives me bad stomach when i eat there. Ive been to India a few times and I caught a stomach bug every single time. Visited SL once and it was infinitely cleaner
We haven’t been to India yet but we have heard horror stories about food hygiene there 😅

The tap water in Sri Lanka is actually decently clean compared to most countries and I mean even though I don’t recommend drinking tap water you won’t get sick like you would if I were to compare like in India where even the bottled water is suspicious and tap water is not drinkable at all.
We have been fine with bottled water thank you 🤩
Sri Lanka is keen into hygienic practices as nice and active role of public health inspectors is on.
We ate food street everywhere and never once had any issues 😊

Located at Abdul Hameed Street, Colombo 12. The main action happens near Abdul Hameed Street-if you add that to your Google Maps it should take you to the beginning of the street. Otherwise, add Aluthkade police station and it will take you to the other end.

The Dolphin kottu you had gets its name from the ingredient's cooking style and method that's why you were reminded of a Mac and cheese-like feeling, and no Dolphin meet at all just bits of Chicken or Roast chicken. Well, the Supreme Court's complex and the judiciary is at the top of this road and the central Bus stand is at the other end.

Well, Sri Lanka has a good hygiene culture. Sri Lankans consider good hygiene as a sign of prosperity. So even the most laziest vendor is more focused on hygiene and the quality of food than the money. Because if you sell unhygienic food in Sri Lanka, your business won't survive because no one would buy your stuff.

Dolphin fish is MAHI MAHI IN SL!!
Dolphin kottu has bigger pieces of rotti. That's it. But, for me at least, kottu tastes best when the rotti pieces are smaller.

Indeed this is crazy street foods but definitely" Not" the Sri Lankan food !!! Just a fusion cuisine mainly based on indian ,Arabic ect. If you need to experience the authentic taste of Sri Lankan cusine just travel around the various areas rather than Colombo and you will find out the true flavors and essence of food of this country!!! also cannot guarantee that you are eating completely hygienic foods from that place. as a Sri Lankan many of us try to avoid that area even though it's has been promoted amoung foreigners as a food Paradise!! choose wisely!!!👍👍👍
