Oh, oh, oh. Once thing I totally forgot to mention, and I know people will ask. My HuCard sleeves. The original HuCard sleeves are made out of this really soft plastic that over time breaks down and turns into this sticky mess. It's possible to clean off the sticky stuff with rubbing alcohol (and some actual rubbing), but it's just going to keep happening. I actually have a few HuCards that suffered some light cosmetic damage because the melty plastic discolored the printing on the game itself. So while I did clean all of those sleeves and have them stored separately (to keep the games complete in case I want to sell them later), I bought a bunch of Tyvek sleeves (used for making floppy disk sleeves back in the day, and used as a vapor/air barrier in home building now) because they are an archival-quality material and because I don't want my HuCards just bouncing around loose inside the jewel cases. They're about $14 for a pack of 50, so quite cheap. Here's a link to them: amzn.to/3gi9h5s
Funny that you rated Jack Nicholas Golf so high. The first golf game I ever played was the DOS version and absolutely loved it. When they released the Super NES version I couldn't wait to go out and play it. It ended up being my favorite golf game on Super NES. Then when the UA-cam started being a thing and everyone dumped on it and recommended something else I just was totally confused. Thanks for sticking to your guns and nice to know I'm not the only one who likes those games!
I really like niche videos where you dig deep into a single subject! I’m not that into golf games, but it’s fun to hear about their differences. My PC Engine collection has no golf game but this gets me in the mood for some Hal’s Hole On One on SNES!
That was pretty common at the time. It was expected that VHS tapes would be purchased for rental in video stores, so you would get your money back through the rentals. Although in this case, I can't see golf tips being an in demand rental.
I’ve been watching your channel since you first started, and I have rewatched and rewatched all of your cgq+ episodes in chronological order about 5-6 times now. Love listening to you as it brings back very similar memories. Thank you for the entertainment that is better than all the other content on UA-cam(tied with James Rolfe gotta respect the man) LOL. You deserve more subscribers.
Usually not very keen on golf games besides the ultra casual stuff like Mario Golf and Neo Turf Masters, but I like your taste in games so I'm gonna check this out. Thanks for putting another PCE/TG episode together. I always enjoy learning more about this system, and its library.
It's just a saturday in April, but I was eating rotisserie chicken and watching a CGQ video about golf games, and somehow it felt like a holiday. You put a lot of work and attention to detail into your content. I loved that glimpse of the CGQ Weather Channel. Great to see you come to the defense of a game that seems to have been unfairly dumped on by other reviewers. Keep on doing content that you're excited about.
I played Power Golf as a child to death and I loved it. It was one of the first games I got for the TG16 and at first it was quite complicated but little by little I (and my brother too) ended up really nailing the shots. Amazing memories.
Such a great video. Very well done! I really enjoyed the small touches like coverage of Universal licensed music (including the CGQ Weather graphic). I'm a big fan of golf games and enjoy playing them from time to time. Great topic for a video with excellent thoughts, information and comparisons. Keep up the great work. I enjoy all the content you put out. Have a great day!
Good video! Enjoyed the topic, obviously but you could tell that you were into it as well which also made it enjoyable. I had no idea that you were going to do EVERY golf game on the TG16/PCE! Glad to finally check this one out.

Well this is a topic I never thought I'd see anyone talk about. With that being said, Winning Shot is great! It's one of the easiest golf games to figure out how to play. It should have been released in the North America.
Definitely dozed off watching this yesterday afternoon, but like...in a good way. Like napping in the middle of a baseball game. Came back to finish today; I really like seeing all of these games side by side like this. Especially with golf games, where you would think the mechanics would be fairly limited, it's interesting to see all the different approaches at work.
What a wonderful video! You've really re-kindled my love for classic golf games over the past few years. I was really looking forward to sitting down with this video at breakfast on Saturday morning (like the adult version of Saturday morning cartoons) and it didn't disappoint (they never do). Thanks for showing these classic sports games love despite it not being the popular thing to do.
The first golf game I played was LInks: The Challenge of Golf on Sega CD at my friends house. I've never watched or played golf but I really enjoy Mario Golf on N64 and GameCube. I love driving the ball down the fairway and waiting to see where it lands and then the technicality of the green and reading the terrain. Good stuff!
Looking forward to watching this when I get a chance. Golf games have always held a special place in gaming history IMO; there's something immensely satisfying about being good at a sport that I suck at in real life. Being from Augusta, the Masters Tournament has always been a big part of my life; I grew up parking cars at my grandparents' house just outside the gates, dreaming of what it would be like to play there. It's too bad the course was never featured in a game until much later; I would have loved to have played it back in those days.
Super Albatross seems like an RPG (Role Playing Golf), you play golf to save the world.Good morning, by the way, though it's almost midnight in Indonesia.
I had Jack Nicholas Golf on the Turbo back in the day. I can see why people would complain today, but back then it was great. And it's still a great golf game IMO. It's an itch I scratch once in a while.
I enjoyed the video and watched it all. Very interesting and not so mainstream topic. I enjoyed the long form in depth review. I would definitely watch more of this sort of format.
I was playing Power Golf last weekend on the CoreGrafx mini... the meter is definitely way too fast on OG hardware + CRT, adding some lag into the mix makes it borderline unplayable. Aim waaaaaay right to play the hook off the tee and hope for the best. Even tried to use the turbo switch for a chip shot LOL. Better off punching it full blast with the putter. Great stuff as always, glad to see your head is in a good place to put out some content. For our sake AND yours of course. Thanks!
Super Albatross Golf seems like some kind of Japanese Golf soap opera. Like sand in the sandtrap...so are the Days of our Lives! I need to start watching the Classic Gaming Quarterly Weather Channel, the best forecast in town!
@cgq+ you should ask someone in the turbo community to fix / patch / re-color the jack nicholas cd game. If it’s that good it deserves the treatment and will be released with great golf claps, I mean applause.

Nice video as usual Chris. I don't remember if you have a Switch yet or not but you should pick try playing Golf Story. It's pretty cool not real realistic but it's an RPG similar to the Mario Golf games on GBC GBA.

Human developed a bunch of SNES F1 games. They aren’t half bad too. On of the games is based off the 1993 season, so you can drive the Sega Sponsored Williams. You can see Sonic’s feet when the car pits. I think that’s probably the only official SNES game to feature Sonic in any way. 😄
With Jack Nicklaus ETC Golf, I have never understood why the bars on the shot meter are not evenly spaced. It is very distracting and takes away from the game IMO. But as far as the color palette goes, I actually like how it looks on the Turbo more than any other port. It has more charm.
Now, I was wondering why any Electronic Arts PGA Tour Golf games never got any TurboGrafx/PC Engine ports. Populous (an EA game) did made it to the PC Engine, however.
If you’ve never been out to a real golf course Chris, go out and buy a handful of cheap clubs at a thrift store and just hit up a small 9 hole course. Even if your not good it’s still a good time.
Oh, I've golfed a handful of times in my life. Honestly, the reason that I don't do it is because I think I could easily get way too into it and I don't have time for that at this point in my life. Maybe when I retire.
