Thank you for this video. I was curious if there were only two Mechs included from the pictures. Wasn't expecting cutouts but it's a good way to give more options while keeping the price down.
Me as a Capellan player I say yes because it has a Vindicator , also me i have 2 of these and 2 of the originals the number of Griffins I'm going to end up with is going to be excessive there's no such thing as too many Vindicators though
i have a question tho, is this box compatible with the miniature packs? (those that have 4 or 5 mechs) for example can i download the character sheets or make them by scanning the sheet template and edit them on a computer and add the mech stats, according to the structure of the beginners box?
They are compatible but any record sheets you find online, like from sheets.flechs.net/ will include all the details that are left off of the simplified sheets from the Beginner Box. Things like the heat scale and internal locations. If you don't care about all that stuff and just use the weapons and armor locations, you will be fine. Ultimately, if you are going to get into the game with the full standard rules, the Game of Armored Combat box will be what you want to pick up.
@@MechanicalFrog i wanted to get the armored combat box but it was not available in my country, only the beginner box and the alpha strike, that one was beyond my budget nearly twise the original price while the beginner box kept the cheap original price so i went for that one. I found the miniature packs for the base price as well soo i just ordered both the box and a pack to be able to play with 6 figurines in total plus the cardboard ones, thank you for your responce, i see now that i can use the normal sheets but i just found a site that has all the personalised sheets that look just like the simplified ones soo either way i will be covered and ready for my first battletech experience.
Wonderful. I'm glad you have it sorted out. Hopefully, in time the shipping to your country will improve as BT grows in popularity. Welcome to the fray, Mechwarrior. @@ShadrackMeduson
It's a shame that the Vindicator is the only change. If the other Mech was also new, or if they had different pilot cards, anything... but for those who already own the previous Beginner Box, it's hardly worth it just to get one new Mech.
@@MechanicalFrog I have no complaints about the product - it merely offers no value to those who already have the original box. I'd love to get a Vindicator, but it's not worth buying a set I already own just for one model.
Thanks for the unboxing! I’m planning on giving this to an eight-year-old for his birthday, so the heads-up about the novella was greatly appreciated.
I hope the kiddo enjoys it! Happy gaming!
This is sooo cool bought it knowing nothing this was by far the most helpful video

The cutouts are great. Nice thickness on the cardboard too so they're not going to fall apart on you.
Low barrier to entry - good point
A big plus these days when money can be tight.
The Kickstarter is first for me. Ever since they said it was coming. Been saving for that first.
Definitely don't miss it.

One has to give the Capellans credit. They produce some really good mechs.
Thanks for the video! The only change I wish they made was to add the Alpha Strike cards.
That would be nice.
Shame no Alpha Strike cards, though. Have this box, find the record sheets really cool, want more for other mechs!
Yeah it would be neat if they did a set of record sheets with this style.
Neat box. The Vindicator is cool.
Wish the Griffin was the 2N variant.
I do not like the Griffin primary config. I think it's awful.
Thanks for the video, the underage warning is priceless! Seriously. Thanks for the nice review.
Glad it was helpful. Happy gaming.
@@MechanicalFrog Thanks!
Great vid. Definitely gonna pick this up for the new Vindidcator!
It's a cool sculpt.
Audio sounds a bit too low to me, but the content is great! Thank you!
Thank you for the feedback. I tend to err on the side of caution to avoid blowing anyone's ears out. I'll pick things up a bit next time.
Vindicator model aside is there anything else that sets this box set aside from the previous beginners box set that was released not too long ago?
My understanding is that the only change was the Vindicator.
@@MechanicalFrog thanks!

Bought this box but now waiting for my 1 year old to get old enough to play since my wife won't play. :)
Hmm... just a few years wait then. :D
Great Video
Thanks! I'm painting up the two mechs and am going to give away the box in the near future.
The novel is nothing compared to what kids are learning in schools now.

It's a cute little box. I appreciate it for what it is.

I bought it for the box art for my shelf@@HeadHunterSix
Deffo gonna grab for that Vindi :)
It's a great sculpt.
Came here from HBS Battletech. Definitely won't be buying this product because of the simplified rules.
Sounds like the Armored Combat box would be more your liking. It doesn't skimp on anything.
It's intended for... (wait for it) _beginners_ . Imagine that, simplified rules for people who are learning the game for the first time! 🙄
its 2020s, where theyre pushing TG agenda in schools. So, i think a strip club n catcalling scene is the least of their worries.
