Mind-blowing video man, I am a jeweller for the past 12 years and this video contains so much information towards brand building in jewellery, all your facts are true but you should know that Tanishq charges in the name of making charges and they sell for thousands of rupees which only cost 5-10 rupees, and when you go to return or exchange these items you get for these stones. Secondly Tanishq if you ever compare from local jewellers. So many crooked jewellers have now changed or changing their way of selling and they are moving towards selling only hallmark jewellery. Markets are evolving and brands like Tanishq have helped in informing customers about some discrepencies in jewellery purchasing mainly which only suits them.
Eventhough on paper Tanishq is leading gold jewellery makers, Jwellers from Kerala like Kalyan, Malabar , Alukkas, Bhima rule the market because on paper sales of gold in these jewellers may be very low but the real sale is much much higher than even Tanishq can think of. My father owned a gold purification and testing centre for 45 years . He also did jewellery making for jewellers in between. Gold market in India cannot be studied using B-School experience you have to dive into it. Gold Nexus works in very complex way , politics, terrorism , traficking, religion, region, power, money everything counts here . Even if people have all these ,many of them fail due to backstabs and rivalary. The reason because gold is so loved by people in power is unlike paper money gold doesn't leave paper trails .Gold is nasty buisness.
Excatly! Especially in Telugu states most people never visited Tanishq store even once. Most people here prefer famous local stores against big jewellery stores because of more designs.
I visited jewelers for last couple of years when the prices went down and trust me I had an opposite experience. High pricing, poor response, lack of various designs and very few people at the counter compared to Malabar, Kalyaan, few big local players, Jayalucas, and few more brands. I was disappointed with Tanishq. I don't doubt on your researching abilities but trust me dude, I observed this for the entire year. We had to wait in queue in Malabar but Tanishq, it was empty.
Yep. I also had the same experience. GRT, Malabar, kalyaan, etc are so so filled up. I've never seen a filled up tanishq. I've never met a relative who bought Tanishq jwellery. He's charging making even on gold coins. What's there to charge for making in a coin? Nobody charges making for a coin or bar. Bullshit.
We own a jewellery showroom . I can vouch it . The stupid wannabe branded kids who just want to show tags buy from tanishq . They don't understand gold or money . Even though their parents ask them to go for trusted local jewellers.
Tanishq is doing same things what local Jewellers did in past. Today if you check the Product Discription of Any Diamond Jewellery of Tanishq you will find that the prices of Diamonds are minimum 3x of what a local Jewellers can provide with better Purity. Secondly the Making Charges are 4-5x more then normal Industry Standards. So long Story short if you purchase any Diamond jewelry at Tanishq or any other leading brand. It will take minimum 7-10+ years just cover your cost of Jewellery.
I would also add here that, I trust BIS hall mark and the bill from that particular brand. Just because the bill, the brand and the hall mark says the thing that I'm buying is pure gold so I too trust it. Now these brands may sell me even copper and it hardly matters because all I want is bis hall mark, brand bill and general acceptance. That's it. Who cares the gold is how much gold or the truth is true or not. Mai return kr ne jau, return hona mangta hai and it should be respected as gold that's it. Fir vo kuch bhi ho, copper or brass I don't care. These fancy machines are just a marketing gimmick. I have worked with Tata and I know how beautiful and Bureaucratic they are? Now after seeing so many comments in my favour, I think this guy (presenter) has lost the path. Dude, you need to recheck your facts before serving us.
At Tanishq the gram rate for gold is always higher than everyone else and their making charges is way higher and I am sure that in Kerala you could get the same 916 BIS Hallmarked gold way cheaper at any small jewellery, I don’t know why Tanishq has that stupid pricing.
Few benefits of Family Jewellers who works on Principles! 1. Now a days they do have a xray Spectrometer, you can't compare all FAmily Jewellers to Tanishq 2. Ask someone in the industry, how and what way Tanishq fools in diamond pricing and what is the value of Diamonds purchased from them, they won't take your diamonds and Tanishq diamonds won't be taken by Local as they have Marked up heavily on pricing! 3. Facts and figures can be manipulated,in my small town there are 120 Jewellery stores and I am talking about North West India! 4. Chain Brands are doing well like GRT,Bhima ,PNG ,WHP as well so make sure to focus on them as well! 5. Time has gone when Progressive Jewellers focus on providing Quality as well! 6. If one mango is bad,you can't say the whole bunch was Bad!
I still think they are more bigger player which are not listed. 20kcr sale in jwellery is nothing. Indian jwellery market is 6lakh cr . It is just a 3% market share. For a 30 yrs business with a tata brand what that tell you my friend that their customers are not loyal why just go to a local jewellery shop they will charge you 10% as making charges what tansihq charge is 30% so their is no repeat customers. I can tell you in next 2 year as gold price rise you will see their sales number will only go down in volumes. and if you want to do give quality research to your subscriber do from all angle. And you purity questions has taken back seat because you can buy hall mark jwellery from jwellers. And for you subscriber they can go short the target is 50% from the top for titan may be buy next diwali
In Bengal also local Jewellers are way popular than Tanisqh...Tanisqh is not that much popular with middle class.. some brand originated in Bengal like P. C Chandra, Anjali, Senco are way popular than Tanisqh. This is the scenario of urban areas.. village people mostly prefer to visit their local Jewellers still.
Recently, Tanishq's showroom opened in my city and was curious from the beginning about Tanishq. Thanks a lot Thinkschool for giving us this great insight.
What an awesome case study. Seriously, we commoners notice only when someone is successful. But to get to that point, they had to pass so many hurdles!
I'm so glad I discovered your channel, I don't typically believe in consuming content that's out of my scope (I'm US-based)...but I 100% believe that your country and its leadership are using all the tools we have available during the information age (in the correct way) in order to enable a democracy that exists within capitalism to continuously succeed through competition and innovation. Despite some detractors (VISA) claiming things like nationalism, compettion and innovation is a good thing..and it's fundamental to driving capitalist societies (and hopefully humanity) forward. We should be in a position of learning when someone else has a better product, and we should always be proud of another country's successes...as we're all the same, other than creative differences and we can all learn off of each other. Your statement at the end, about validating the data is fundamental to acting upon information. For some reason this is something that people do not understand in the US. We do not understand how this works, how to define what a monopoly is (for some reason...especially wrt information), and because of the fragmentation and opacities of our education, people misinterpret how the systems they live in actually affects them daily.
i am from the jewellery manufacture industry... jewellery being an fashion product but also has major role of investment....but these brands like tanishq etc charges customers with 28-30% making charges, sometimes I've also seen upto 43%...thus upon selling these ornaments after a period of time, customers still get loss, this leads to loss of interest of customers in gold jewellery. whereas if u buy from a small jeweller,u will get the same hallmarked product in much more lesser making charges like 10-12% max and also the gold rate will be 100-200₹ cheaper than tanishq... normal customers shoud keep in my mind if brands like tanishq and kalyan etc are getting their products endorsed by huge celebrities even though the product is same as u can get at any small jeweller, then from where will the cost of endorsement from celebrities come? offcourse from the pockets of the customer.even the cost of huge showrooms, decoration, staffs and all other fancy unnecessary facilities will be charged out of the pockets of the customer as the product is same which u could get from a smaller jeweller at a very less price. anybody wants any ans regarding gold and jewellery,do drop a comment, happy to help and spread awareness.
Hi, Can you make another episode on how brands make customers aware of the problem and then provide the solution . The barrier to replace old and conventional brand just by providing additional features/services, doesn't always work for new competitors.

I am sharing my own experience. I bought some gold jwellery from local jwellers and when I checked the purity (using independent machine), the quality was always worse. 18 Carat gold was worse than 14 Carat. 22 Carat gold was almost 16 carat and so on. This quality issue I didn't see with major brands like Tanishq or Kalyan Jwellers.
@@rahullalwani8513 exactly! On target and rightly presented! I am a bought customer and would never go for another brand than Tanishq even if the other brand is the best on the planet. Even when seeing 20Y from now I would exchange old jewellery for my kids from Tanishq only. The only grudge with Tanishq is outdated designs and not addressing low cost gold jewellery for which we have to always go to local shops. And obv making charges are the lowest ..then why you prefer buying costlier product just because of the brand name and advertisement !
As jeweler I can say it contains much misinformation. Now days you can order 916% certified hallmark gold jewellery with less than half what branded shops charge with no GST at any small jeweler. Tanishq charges mountain fees, like 20to 30% wastage on gold compare to 10 to 13% at local jeweler which is enough for a making, still These brands growing because of marketing they do , they make you feel like your respected person or posh person if you buy their product...I remember until last 5-6 years nobody knows about custom of buying gold on dhanteras other than some north indian communities, thanks to these gold brands now every corner of the country knows it and buys gold on that one day like crazy, and some people buys gold by lone money. and it Saddens me seeing how people spend their hard earned money on that one day (and the level of frouds happens on that day is bonus)

They should jump into silver market as well as there is impurity in that as well. Secondly another brand has to bring karatmeter to check Tanisha jewelry. I am a great fan of Tanishq but still want to double check them. Total trust is not healthy- sadly in canada there is no karatmeter.
I have checked purity of several other jewellery items bought from other stores in Tanishq Karatmeter and have got the desired results thus proving the Karatmeter works.
Tanishq charges way more than the actual price of gold. People who’re not regular gold traders perhaps don’t know that Tanishq’s gold price is almost 10-12% more than the actual gold price. I checked it just last month when I was in India.
Yeah and pawn shops and banks refuse to give gold loans to such products because they have more stones which makes it difficult to get the real value of the gold.

We visited Meena Jewllers, Damas, Malabar, but when we saw designs of Tanishq, it just fitted what we wanted, both taste and price wise. I think one of their USPs is unique designs. Thanks!
Tanishq did not kill small jewellers. Small jewellers killed themselves by not being honest and giving comfort to their customers that what they sold was value for money
i'm not indian, but i love knowing about the industries and sectors in india, thanks for making it in english! also to add, the reason why Titan didn't do well in euro is because the Swiss and Germans have LONG reputable history of watchmaking, not just design but also the mechanical components in watches - luxury and accessible ones. like car components and car technologies, watches improve every few years due to innovations in watchmaking engineering. India's Titan has no centuries-long watch making history or manufacturing workshops in Switzerland (which is a must for any reputable top watchmaking brands to gain respect within the watchmaking industry). Titan lacked the "innovation" to shake up the watchmaking industry for the big boys to take notice, which is something they should have focused on before expanding to euro
adulteration by local jewellers is the key reason behind the success of Tanishq as it stands for trust and purity, competitive advantage for the company.Nice case analysis
I own a jewellery showroom . I would advise any person who value his/her money to buy from local TRUSTED jewellers. We charge you 350-400 marking charge including all other expenses. But these big houses will charge is 1500-4000 depends on design. ( Gold purity on local and brands are same ). Here with tanishq you pay for branding ( Deepika Padukone) . But with us you will get better service, personal customisation, legacy and relationships. Dont to forget when you want to sell the gold ( we all know gold is investmenting asset also ) local jewelry house will give you the current rate of gold without any deductions that too in immediate basis. Try selling gold in tanishq 😁 I am not bias but local trusted jewellers > ( Nowadays every jewellery house has gold purity check machine so no doubt in purity )
I own a jewellery showroom too and i had a conversation with one of my customers who once went to buy jewellery from Kalyan, she shared her experience with me and she said it was a very bad decision because they overcharge like anything, in diamond jewellery she told me they were charging 90000 rs karat for vs si diamonds, and we charge max 55000 for vvs fg which is like the best diamond quality and vs si is like the worst qualities of diamonds so i was completely shocked of much they were overcharging the customers.

They melt it and found that it was made up of 18 caratt gold and polish was done of 22 carat. And 18 carat was not pure that chain has only 70% gold. On top of this he add 10% making charges. Others are making charges gst etc. May be the article i purchased has less making charges

Most of the jewellery I had brought in 30 years from private jewellers in chennai didn't conform to 22 carat finess as I was assured of by them. I bought new ones from Tanisq few years back . When checked with other jewelers all of them were assessed for more than 22 carat finess & not less. Private jewelers are extremely flexibile in price & other charges at the cost of quality of jewellery. They do it even without billing. Tanisque is averse to & doesn't follow this kind of bad & under hand practices. They quote fixed price & other charges but sell only quality products. Tanisque commands high level of credibility due to honest & transparent trade practices & is flourishing in organized gold jewellery market. Private jewellers are perishing not because of Tanisque. They are themselves to blame. They have only committed Hara-kiri due to bad practices against gullible customers.
I personally disagree in this because gold buying is matter of trust so for small gifting may be most of the people prefer brands but for big purchases like marriage and engagement etc most of the people trust their family jewelers

I wanna send an Message to impending youngsters marrying that don't get obsessed with brand..give chances to local sellers and businesses...u won't find much difference in quality...it's all brand..nothing else
Today when price of gold is 5400/- per gram on 21.04.2022 they're charging 7500/- per gram with making and gst.. Hell no. They don't make jewellery for low budget.. They push you to buy kilos heavy jewellery..

I am addicted now for sure, can't even miss a video.

Few benefits of Family Jewellers who works on Principles!
1. Now a days they do have a xray Spectrometer, you can't compare all FAmily Jewellers to Tanishq

I don't know about other parts, but here in south Tanishq lacks in variety and other jewellery establishments are doing better.

Empathy is that superpower that can turn a commoner into a king

Hi Ganesh, I think you forgot to research about the Kerala Gold Jewelers like Kalyan, Malabar and so many other dealers
i am from the jewellery manufacture industry... jewellery being an fashion product but also has major role of investment....but these brands like tanishq etc charges customers with 28-30% making charges, sometimes I've also seen upto 43%...thus upon selling these ornaments after a period of time, customers still get loss, this leads to loss of interest of customers in gold jewellery.
whereas if u buy from a small jeweller,u will get the same hallmarked product in much more lesser making charges like 10-12% max and also the gold rate will be 100-200₹ cheaper than tanishq...
normal customers shoud keep in my mind if brands like tanishq and kalyan etc are getting their products endorsed by huge celebrities even though the product is same as u can get at any small jeweller, then from where will the cost of endorsement from celebrities come?
offcourse from the pockets of the customer.even the cost of huge showrooms, decoration, staffs and all other fancy unnecessary facilities will be charged out of the pockets of the customer as the product is same which u could get from a smaller jeweller at a very less price.
anybody wants any ans regarding gold and jewellery,do drop a comment, happy to help and spread awareness.
Very correct brother I too support and buy from local jewellers only

I am sharing my own experience. I bought some gold jwellery from local jwellers and when I checked the purity (using independent machine), the quality was always worse. 18 Carat gold was worse than 14 Carat. 22 Carat gold was almost 16 carat and so on.
This quality issue I didn't see with major brands like Tanishq or Kalyan Jwellers.
This is 2022, if this still happens not a single jeweller can survive, every thing is hallmarked
@@rahullalwani8513 exactly! Mostly hallmarked jwelleries are sold nowadays and people are aware about hallmark and purity before buying gold.. we own a gold business so we know it very well.. @Himanshu yadav you got a bit unlucky or might be possible that jweller in your locality scammed you but.. i can assure that 95% of jwellery stores sell legit hallmarked jwelleries only .. purity scams used to happen earlier for high margins .. but now it's a open book!

Looks like you r the only happy customer here..!😂
Usually the making charges in Tanishq is higher than other jwellers. Can you explain how Tanishq is still a wiser choice
@@rashidosani5958 why?
Local jewellers can also make any type of design that you want
About the quality ..how can quality differ?
For eg if you are buying 22ct gold jewellery ..then you have variety of ways to check it if it 22ct or not ..you'll get 91.6% purity ..
Those special auspicious days were brainchild of our ancient marketing mafias and cunning businessmen befooling the innocent . Indians r too gullible specially in the name of religion.

@@SettyS2011 22=916% same, there are government authorised testing centers in every City, any one can check their jewellery. all customers have to do is have some knowledge about gold purchasing

@@SettyS2011 with government regulations now days you can find certified jewellery in any small shop with hallmark symbol 75% or 916% it's not exclusive to brands like Tanishq, All you have to do is ask questions about quality and wastage. They should jump into silver market as well as there is impurity in that as well. Secondly another brand has to bring karatmeter to check Tanisha jewelry. I am a great fan of Tanishq but still want to double check them. Total trust is not healthy- sadly in canada there is no karatmeter.

Tanishq charges way more than the actual price of gold. People who’re not regular gold traders perhaps don’t know that Tanishq’s gold price is almost 10-12% more than the actual gold price. I checked it just last month when I was in India.
Yeah and pawn shops and banks refuse to give gold loans to such products because they have more stones which makes it difficult to get the real value of the gold.

also to add, the reason why Titan didn't do well in euro is because the Swiss and Germans have LONG reputable history of watchmaking, not just design but also the mechanical components in watches - luxury and accessible ones. like car components and car technologies, watches improve every few years due to innovations in watchmaking engineering.

Tanisque is averse to & doesn't follow this kind of bad & under hand practices. They quote fixed price & other charges but sell only quality products.
Tanisque commands high level of credibility due to honest & transparent trade practices & is flourishing in organized gold jewellery market.

They don't make jewellery for low budget.. They push you to buy kilos heavy jewellery..
I remember voting yes for this video in the tata epsiode. Kudos man!
Tanishq is overpriced. And their making charges is above 15% to nearly 30% sometimes. Thats ridiculous high. I always preferred local vendors.
What Tanishq? We Malayalis havent heard of such a brand until we saw their ads.
If you have better design/Marketing strategy, you can capture the market🤷️ ,
People also say that D-mart kills small shop owner but 20-30 women's are working in one(single) d-mart.
Wow amazing way of thinking!!! Even I order fro jio mart and Flipkart groceries!!! The local vendors provide zero employment opportunity. But these big companies provide much more job opportunities to the commoners!!!
@@monishasekar4716 yes definitely
His "Hi Everybody" sounds so cool.
Useless brand and waste of momey , they must be growing , try to sell that gold back returns will be peanuts, it is 18k gold with some useless stones and gem stones, People are paying for design thats is not 24 or 22 carat gold at all , my daughter gifted me silver jewelry that turned black within a month and caused me skin allergy.
Mainly through overpricing items. Collection is extremely unique no doubt.
I had the opposite experience. GRT, Malabar, kalyaan, etc are so so filled up. I've never seen a filled up tanishq. I've never met a relative who bought Tanishq jwellery. He's charging making even on gold coins. What's there to charge for making in a coin? Nobody charges making for a coin or bar. Bullshit.
Wtf fr making charges on gold coin 😂😂😂
@@neeev100 Yep. I was surprised too. Just try buying it on their site. You'll know.
Extremely awesome content. loved it 😊😊
I don't think they have killed anybody
People generally buy from the shopkeepers they trust
And don't go for overpriced items
Amazing content!
Same in Hindi at #RockingRockerARYA
You didn't descuse about hinduphobice adds of tanisq
You can see the name of products like Mia, Zoya..... Were as their customers are hindu
Never forget that 🙏
Yes, definitely, such hinduphobic names! (That was sarcasm if you didn't catch it). You conveniently forget their wedding collection named "Rivaah", their diamond collection named "Nakshatra", some more collections they made for the entire movie of Padmavat. Kindly stop cherry picking instances which support your ideology. They are an *Indian* brand catering to the "Indian" clientele, not specifically Hindu clientele. Like it or not, all religions are allowed by Constitution to live in this beautiful country. And they can name their collections as they want. You don't term it "Islamophobic" when they release specific ads for Hindu festivals of Diwali and Durga Puja, do you? Celebrating one religion does not automatically disrespecting the other.
@@elinadas74 have you seen adds.
Don't tell me about constitution, even constitution is hinduphobice, like collecting temple Money were as other are free, gurukul are baned...
Fuck constitution and secularism
Your approach to a case and the analysis is truly remarkable.
