Fascinating and so hopeful!
Diagnosed 2 weeks ago (3/15/2024) with early onset AVN of right talus bone. Cartilage intact (no collapse), with very small area bone collapse at center top of Taylor dome. Intermittent pain.
Next 6 wks non-weight-bearing + 3 hrs daily bone stimulator cuff (not focused shockwave).
Praying dearly this is not waste of time, given AVN is progressive and I am early stage. I do have MRI “slice” image to share.

My question is this. Why are so many other doctors unwilling to make this diagnosis in the first place? I started complaining of hip pain in the very early stages in the groin area at age 19 it wasn't until I hit my late 40s that I was diagnosed with Advanced osteoarthritis and offered hip replacement. Still at no time was I given this diagnosis as the cause for my osteoarthritis. I am thoroughly convinced that this is what I suffer from and why I have chronic hip pain a lack of leg movement.

This is for AVN not osteoarthritis.
Because most doctors don't know how to perform the core decompression surgery the correct way and there aren't many companies who offer a device meant for core decompression. However I work for a medical device company that has a device for early stages of AVN.
Yes, it is frustrating when doctors ignore your comments and then only acknowledge it after it has grown into something huge. Not cool. Not OK.

I am one of the people affected by avascular necrosis but it is a shame that I am in Indonesia. For the left level 3 and right level 4.

Im 48 yrs old and have AVN and just got my left hip replaced. My right hip replacement is scheduled for Feb 12. I’ve never even heard of these surgical options before. My family Dr doesn’t act like he knows much about my condition and my surgeon only seems to know his role in replacing my hip.
I don’t know what to do.? Should I just go ahead with my next hip replacement? My left side is doing pretty good now but I don’t know how it’s going to hold-up over time.
Why is it so hard for the patient to figure these things out?? I am all alone and I’m just not smart enough to make these decisions

Hello Dr. Saad this sounds very interesting most people I hear on my fb group are getting replacements. The dr said I’m not a candidate for surgery but not just a hip replacement no core decompression either they won’t treat me. I’m dead inside I’m in agony and nobody wants to help me I’ve given up on life.

I have AVN in both hips and both knees. I also have Systemic Lupus Ethro. I also have two bulging disc in my back and and am afraid that after AVN Hip Core Decompression that I will not be able to walk on crutches. I also seen the video about the free vascularized Fibular Graft and am wandering if I should ask my dr. if he knows about this surgery. I am 41, doctors don't want to perform hip or knee replacements at my age. My doctor has not even said what stage of AVN I am in. I just feel like I don't know the whole picture.

That's surprising that the docs are refusing because I have heard that replacements can last longer than 20 years.
How are you now?
I have severe/extensive Avascular Necrosis in my knee, I have to keep the weight off as much as possible and keep my offloader brace on. Also use a walker, I see my orthopedic surgeon in 6 weeks, and go from there with surgery if no improvement

How do you feel about stem cell injection treatment?

You should look for free medical clinics in your area, I worked with one and they helped me get a replacement, but my left hip seems to now be affected, so, I'm screwed after moving and recognizing my hip popping early on, I thought it might be my replacement causing lower back pain, but the last few days the hip started popping within my normal range of motion , I dealt with mine from about 2014/15 to late 2019

I also have a displaced tip of ulnar bone by my wrist I broke my schaphoid starting a lawn mower I don't understand how something like that could have caused such a fracture should I be tested for bone density test because my left wrist is starting to ache just like my right one before my injury please give me feed back I'm suffering greatly. The scaphoid fracture is so rare it is an unidentifiable one

At what stage of AVN can FPCD be done?

I was just diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis in my right hip. I had a consult with an orthopedic surgeon and the net result is total hip replacement. At the time I wasn’t aware of other treatment options. Am I to assume that my stage level is dictating that my only treatment is hip replacement ?

Sir you first said the cause is unknown but do mention immediately its linked to steroids and alcohol. I can tell you know i had bad injuries and i have 4th stadium of necrose. Also my breathing was very shallow after injuries. So i actually know the cause, in my case. So there are many other causes that medication and alcohol. Please consider this. I was abused both on my right hip and upper leg, exactly where i now have necrosis. In Dutch we say Avasculaire Necrose. Mijn is very complicated now. Im about to have surgery, im very emotional but als inspired to be strond and move on and now i just saw this. Thank you. Jennifer from The Netherlands.

I have been in pain and limping now and use a cane since the end of june
2016 after countless xrays and 2 mris my ortho doc says im not getting
blood to my hip joint,first they tried therapy didnt work,5 different
pain meds celebrex,mobic,diclofena,nothing helps with the pain,sometimes
ibprofin helps a little.As soon as I stand up and put wieght on it its
very painful.So my doc is sending me to a chief ortho dr for a secound

i was diagnosed with AVN about 15 years ago and i am now still can walk but with both legs somehow restricted to move much; it hurts a lot now but i really didn't have any idea what's happening with my AVN ,haven't seen the doctor quite a while and i guess my case would just be hopeless since it has been years that i haven't had my hips checked...
i was wondering if this procedures can still be applicable on my case and will i be able to walk back to normal again?

I had one hip replacement it 29, and now my other hip seems to be going out at 32, I just recovered from living with it for 5 years and got my life back on track, now I'm basically gonna have to go back go being homeless

At 18, I was diagnosed with AVN, the pain was unbearable. Miraculously, after 2 years, I found relief. Now, my AVN stage is 5 for the left hip and 4 for the right, with stable bone density.
