It's way less obvious and we can see you from a true perspective of eye-to-eye rather than off the shoulder or something like that. Great video. The level of fluency is a lot better than some American expats of Chinese descent that I know. And sometimes just a few words & phrases can get you very far. The hard part of the Chinese language is that the pronunciation has no direct correlation to the characters. Pinyin is supposed to make learning the sounds easier. Unlike Vietnamese that uses the English alphabet with the accent markings on the vowels, people type in Pinyin on their phone or computer without the accents so it's easy to get the intonation off. I carry a dictionary app. If there is a word I don't know I'd look it up using Pinyin and click on the speaker button to hear how it is said. For example: when you type "jianbing" on your phone you get 煎餅. The characters would come out but you don't have the accents on the vowels to indicate the tones. In the dictionary you see "jiānbǐng" written like French or Vietnamese with the appropriate accents.
