There's nothing wrong with friendly light social interactions between HR and other team members. But what happens in HR always stays in HR. I'll also never have more than one 'drink' at a work social. No letting hair down.
I take a "not friends but friendly" approach. Even in my current position people are always looking for inside info.
People will definitely try befriend you because you work in HR. I had this one lady who never spoke to me would walk passed my office every day without saying hi. But when I was one of the interview panelist for a promotion she wanted all of a sudden she wanted to chat🤔🤔
@mrsboss15 O yes, for sure. Also when there is a dispute.
When compared to legal, HR professionals are the ones who truly care about the employees they serve!
HR can totally have friends you just have to look at friends in your life on different levels. That’s what I do & it’s worked for me. People you Meet in the workplace will constantly look at you as HR. You will see the difference if or when they leave the organization. Either they will stay in contact or they won’t. I’m transparent that their will be some conversations that I will not participate in or even listen to.
Totally agree; they will stay in touch after the work relationship has ended. Love your videos by the way. Thanks for stopping by.
@@HRGirl411 thank you for watching! I love yours too!
Awesome Video!! I can resonate with this being an HR myself 🙂
Yes, one can keep work friends. It ends at work. and when I notice a staff is trying to pry I dismiss such questions or discussions. Basically, I respect others and be fair
Indeed! You have to set those boundaries.
In Small companies, hr is just another admin. The owner or upper management makes all decisions at the end of the day.
I am sorry, but not really!! If I am expected to put my job in jeopardy to be friends - then we are not friends. Those who know me, have already been alerted and know and respect this about me. I am by the book, with few but justifiable exceptions. 🙂
Friends, family and colleagues are difficult to navigate in any career, but especially HR.
What if HR is best friends with your department Director
