Thank you so much for these tips. It seems I am experiencing 1-2 of these red flags currently as an HR and most grateful I ran into this video…

Question - how do you stand out in phone interviews? I've done 3-5 a week for 5 months and still can't pass them. They tell me I've overqualified or tell me they will reach out and set up the next interview and I never hear from them. Last time I interviewed 6 years ago everything was still in person and I was offered multiples.

Why would you want a job that you are over qualified for? Why not apply for the positions that are a better match for your skill level? You might not stand out on every phone call but keep bringing the energy, upbeat positive attitude, and you're destined to stand out to the right hiring manager.

Question: I had a workers comp case when the employee hurt their back. But after doing some investigation they've complained about back problems before. They were ultimately approved even though I did not agree with it. What are your thoughts?

I would need additional background information on that because if the injury occurred at work, then it’s definitely workers comp. But if the injury occurred outside of work and they are under supervision by a treating physician, then they may need accommodations under the ADA but it depends.

@HRGirl411 it was during their work shift, but the injury was off camera unfortunately. Therefore we couldn't tell what actually happened. Thanks for responding! Love your content, HR needs a face!

@@gvue4396 yeah, unfortunately when a company cannot prove malicious intent, negligence or horseplay; the WC claim will stick. Thanks for you comment! Looking forward to releasing more videos in the future.
