Thank you so, so much for leaving content warnings, you're the only horror specific let's player I know of that does that and it makes it feel a lot safer to me (and others!) to watch videos like this and enjoy the game's content without worrying about something that could really upset you popping up out of nowhere. Thanks for all the hard work and dedication in general, your channel is the best.

sailornaruto39 yeah, sorta. sometimes with content warnings you look at one of them and say like for example "suicide upsets me full stop I can't watch this at all" but other subject matter can make you uncomfortable but it's something that you can just mentally prepare yourself for, yeah, like for example "okay I'm really glad he warned about child abuse that way I see that coming and I know it'll be in here and I can prepare to hear stuff about that" so. yeah exactly pretty much. for some specific things like suicide I like warnings so I can know to just skip the media containing that disturbing material entirely, but for other stuff it doesn't bother me as much but I just like to know what's coming up. thanks for asking for clarification!
Lizzie A Thanks for clarifying. I always hear trigger warnings getting a bad rep on the internet, but I wanted to take a step back and see what they actually do for people.
yeah, I see a lot of bashing for trigger warnings online too, and their function is that they usually can just allow someone to avoid unknowingly reading or seeing something that's going to bring up bad painful memories or upset them, and whenever I see people bashing that I never really understand why they're considered a bad thing? it just seems like polite courtesy to me, it's good to give warnings because not everyone has the same brain and the same experiences and the same things that upset them. thanks for asking so politely, I'm happy to give any more information you might need!!
+sailornaruto39 plus from what I can tell, most of the people that loudly complain about trigger warnings are people who don't need them because they aren't upset by things that are usually given trigger warnings (ie, sexual assault, blood/guts, suicide, self harm, etc) and think of them as unnecessary, which is understandable because to them it probably does seem unnecessary since they'd have no use for such a thing! but it's just good to remember that not everyone is the same and its really just polite and considerate to take the time and write out a quick warning and save someone who could use it a whole lot of trouble. :)
damn, that was the best reason for a character in an adventure game not to do something with that chair, most protaganists would say "I don't need to sit down right now" or be more like Jack Walters and say "Nothing of interest"
I can't believe I sat through markiplier's entire stupidly loud play through of this game just to see the story with your series being here. This is why your channel should have way more recognition.

I've actually had what was called, "art therapy" which was basically just drawing/colouring. Now I wonder if there's actually a fancier word for it than just art therapy lol.
But it literally said drawings-therapy. I'm sure art therapy is the term.
The psychological profile of that 7 year old girl, along with the restraint markings around her wrist, hit a little too close to home due to having a 7 year old niece. But I have to say I'm really enjoying the perspective of a ten year old girl with very little grasp on what supposed be terrifying to her, and she instead misinterpret as something that seems more innocent. I'm also wondering if she happened to have damaged her amygdala (almond shape in the brain), since it can help create a response to fearful situations, and she shows little to no fear when invading the nightmare world that would make a grown man cry in fear.

Wow I remember when this series first came out I was just getting into John’s stuff. I’m watching it again now and thought to myself wow John has so much joy in his voice! How long ago was this? Six years? Yeah that checks out lol.
In truth tho love John and know that it’s just life. I loved this John and I also love the one we have now.

Great playthrough as usual! I, as many others, appreciate the warning! Thank you! I just thought I'd share something, "drawing therapy" is known as interactive drawing therapy or art therapy. It's used most commonly on young children who are not mentally and emotionally developed enough to voice their feelings. The therapist usually asks the child to draw whatever they like and then starts asking them to draw specific things ie: draw mom, draw dad, draw how you feel, draw something that scares you. Like most psychological practices, art therapy is not infallible, and cannot be relied on by itself. It's usually paired with psychoanalysis, and other therapies.
First video and I'm already hooked. I've been watching other playthroughs of this game, but there's just something about your commentary and reactions that stands out above all the rest. Looking forward to more.

I don't know why but when that little girl described blood as "red milk", it just kinda creeped me out. I've never heard of it being described that way, and it's kind of disturbing... But I LIKE IT! lol
And even though Dr. Deerne is a bit of a prick and clearly doesn't know what he's doing ( I mean I don't think psychologists and people of his profession knew what they were doing back in the 40's) but I kinda hope that he's not behind all this, and is the reason why Fran Bow's family was killed and all that because I feel like it would be the same plot as American McGee's Alice games, which would be a little disappointing just because it's already been done before.
Other than that I really love the art and "symbolism", and probably just about everything else in this game so far.
You have superb story-telling abilities, and your voice picks up on different tones very well.

I like Fran's little gestures and expressions when she does something/talks to someone, it's a nice detail. This has been a pretty strong start, I'm super interested to see how the rest goes.

+HarshlyCritical you should try talking to the spirits around the children. I know in the earlier patches of the demo you could speak to them and they would give insight as to why the other children are there. (not sure if its still a feature but you should try it might be interesting!)
I like this game so far. It's visually pleasing and the story line sounds intriguing....Have a feeling it's going to be super depressing though.

Ugh not sure who's creepier, Dr. Deerne and his obvious gross inability to do shit in his profession (other than use the kids as guinea pigs for meds and leave them to the care of his equally rotten staff) or Professor Z who at least if he wasn't murdering people for arts supplies seemed to at least be somewhat competent.
But this looks like a great play through - actually if I am going to buy a new game next month, I think this might be on the contender list!

Sorry but that should never be a first resort, especially since a good doctor know that you can never tell how a drug actually affects a person. Isolating a traumatised child from the only people they know and trust? Also, with that nurse and environment, he wonders that the boy isn't trusting him? Please that guy is shit at his job, ugh and tying down a child that has been sexually abused until her wrists bleed? Yeah, but him covering his ass when he has reason to fear his drug experiments make him good doctor is certainly making up for all that ..

I find the seemingly innocent presentation for something so graphically dark very interesting. Like, it gives a false sense of harmlessness but then psychologically slaps you in the face. Makes it thrilling.
