The good thing is you're learning things as you go along. If you stick with that truck and keep doing the repairs, eventually you'll know exactly what's wrong and what you need to do to make it right when it has issues down the road.
You could've at least had Lita standing around out there with you so we'd have something to look at......lol
I fell asleep like 12 times lol
Another awesome video, Robert, just picking on you a little bit.
...A wise , old Georgia Philosopher Once said ......They's only TWO kinds of mountains , Big ole Goodin's and Good ole Biggins...!!
I don't think that was said About Mountains More like P---- LOL
I started watching your video late but what I do with my batteries i clean the battery Box out and then I put a mud flap in it and set the batteries on top of the mudflat it helps out a lot to protect your batteries , That issue that you have I had that problem on my peterbilt and my problem was the dozer valve went badd the one that's On the outlet of the Turbo, It was 300 bucks I put it on and it done one hour and 15 minute regen and no more problems, I'm not saying thats your problem it could be , Whoever tries to fix it ask them about it Good luck And just keep what you got just keep fixing things and it will stop , that way You know what you have once you're done Instead of buying a newer truck you don't know what you have and you are going too have the same problems, And what you are talking about land and everything else your lady and you got more going on than a lot of people and a lot of drivers that drive for a company do not have what you're going too end up with , My dad always told me keep Pecking at it and you will get there , the old mann was wright
Looking good Robert that soldering job reminded me of Soldering Copper Pipe when I was Plumbing God Bless and Be Safe.
My brother had a new Volvo. In 2 yrs he had had more warranty work done than what the truck cost.
And it's not making money at the dealer getting worked on, and I bet he still had to make that payment.
Hang in there Robert, Lita. Stay positive and hopefully everything works out. Sometimes you have to take the bitter before the sweet. Let us know how things are going and hopefully you can get back to the land soon. Take care and be safe and stay healthy. 🙏💕👍🇱🇷
Check out the “soft start” for A/C units. It will cut down the spike on startup. RV’ers use them.
Keep on trucking, it'll take time to learn the truck. Enjoy the vids.
a suggestion for future battery ends- roll solder up and stuff in fitting- dab on some flux then stick fitting over wire and heat fitting- as it heats up the fitting will slide onto the wire- because the flux will go into the wire and then the solder will as well.. never worry if you put enough solder in the wire that way... works on all my battery and solar fittings
Traveling music and white lines....I like it! Keep it rolling!
I’ve done the same, never had a problem I actually think it’s better than a crimp.
You did the right thing by soldering your ends on, especially if you have a good lead solder.
I'm sure you will get on top of the problems and your luck will change chin up and good luck to you
Now remember and this is a must..
On starting fluid just use a little . Or it will lock the pistons up. And too much can damage the rods..
Use sparingly.
Just strap the blankets on the deck for now ?
I had the same issue with mine derating. It’s actually the computer that runs the dpf system. Cost us 5200 bucks to fix. But worked like a charm
Keep your head up it will get better.
It'll work out, stay positive
you can buy a watt meter you plug into you 120 then plug you ac into it and it will read the watts and stuff you pulling can also use it for anything really good way to check
Robert you seem to be a very good business man. A very hard worker . Can’t wait to see what you build in Utah. You have a great partner in Lita you and her work well together she’s a sweet heart.
What's up lucky man.....got that good lady beside you again....they hard to find ...keep on trucking
Couple vedios back i heard a noise sounded like a boost leak check the air to air Collier it's self there notoriously known to crack cost us a couple turbos. Over the years
Compressor motors can draw 3-4x their tated power when the start up.
Hey Dude when your truck D rates and you loose boost.
You can unhook the speed sensor, you will loose your odometer and speedometer
but you will have boost to get you home. Speed sensor is located at the back of
the transmission.
Good to know. I have the computer that's supposed to clear codes aswell. But didn't for some reason
Hello Robert and Letta, I have been reading Rawze.com to learn more about after treatment systems on the trucks and how it effects the Diesel engine. What I have learned so far is that it is very important to do EGR Tune-up? Which is really easy to do for hands on people like use and will help keep your truck out of the shop as long as possible. From reading on the forum drivers thought they had turbo issues and found out it wasn't the turbo at all but sensors that need to be changed out because of soot build up. I know Rawze specialty is Cummings but Im almost sure this can help with your Mack truck to keep you on the road making money! People like us don't like giving it to mechanics unless it is something really beyond and capabilities due to specialized equipment! I hope this will help you to be continually be successful in your career... Be safe and good luck!!!
Thanks I'll check it out. Do these sensors not send codes?
GM Robert and Litta, Im just learning about the after treatment myself but Cummings makes a lot of the systems. Im not sure who makes the one for your truck? I tried to look it up but did not know the year and motor you have in your truck, but I'm sure the fixes have to be the say or really close since systems are all basically the same and function the same???? Good luck! Mike
If you dont find the glow plugs elsewhere, you might try Tractor Supply? Usually if its your turbo, it will bellow out white smoke? How many miles do you have on your fuel filters? Losing boost is a pretty good indication that maybe they are stopping up? I used to change mine every 10,000-12,000 miles whether I thought they needed it or not because a lot of times, if I let it get much over 15,000 Id be on the side of the road changing them because it quit running.
Rob you need to put some flux on the wire then slide the connectors on apply heat and solder.
When the bat box is corroded clean it and use pour 15 on it. sold at Walmart 45.00 a qt but it is great stuff
I like how you tried it out and took a chance knowing you could have ruined it. Those cylinders seemed muddy like coolant leaked. But you got her installed! Great work! Anyhow, how do you hook up the hoses and fan? I can tell you saved thousands buying used. I want to try the same.
I really like your vids Robert.
Man what a shitty week hope things get better fast. Some times it rains some times it pours.
Good luck on truck, stay safe 👍.
the best way i found is to clamp the fitting in the vise and fill the female end about half way with the solder then stick in the wire in hope this helps
That is the very best way. Try to cut the insulation so that it just touches the fitting, that helps seal the wires. Also a wet rag to cool the solder quickly.
When it rains it pours Hope things pick up man.
Look the only thing Yu can spray is starting fluid.
Napa sells kubota parts !
Also when your trying to start the APU loosen the injectors lines. You'll see fuel starting to shoot out it may even crank. Then tighten them up and it should fire up and run !!
Yea !!?
You always have to bleed the air out if a diesels engine fuel system...
Or it will never start.
It will be okay bro . God bless you
I was waiting at red light in abingdon.Va today getting ready to cross under I-81 and turn north. Guess what i saw being piggy backed south bound/4 new mack trucks.Three were day cabs but the leed truck was A dark maroon sleeper cab/thought about you and your struggles trying to make it with A older tuck, I have ben there and dun that my selfe. It is not a easy life
You know it tells me it tells me you like doing things yourself rather than spend money when you can do-it-yourself you'll get the tools get him as you go that's what I do
Love your channel keep it up and forget all the haters
awesome work!!..sorry to hear you are having further issues with the truck...in the future if you have to solder more cables / eyelets on.. you might want to try a bit of flux on the connector / cable.. will make it easier on you..... another suggestion... they sell a product called monobolt.... its a structural rivet... you might want to look into replacing the rivets on your toolboxes with them. we used them to repair doors on one of our firetrucks & they never failed again.. stay safe!!
Ahh looks like a heavy duty rivet?
@@SouthGeorgiaHotShot Yes sir!! they are used in structural work.. we had a similar problem on our 1 pumpers door like you had on your door.. the rivits kept breaking... installed the monobolts & it never happened again
A pre 2005 truck is the best. No emission or any government fuel
I drove a brand new 2019 W~900 with a Cummins. That truck spent more time running in derate than it did normal running. So your right. There’s no advantage to a new truck. If anything buy one pre emissions
All you do is work 👍👍
Your trucks perfect, I like it.
I said in your previous video you have a boost leak somewhere. I could hear it when when you were shifting.
Couldn't believe no one had glow plugs, hope it runs
Sometimes I want to light my truck on fire and roll it down a hill with the modern emissions trucks. But its hard to find a hill here in Florida
Lol
Years ago, I accidentally exploded a motorcycle battery while working on my bike. I didn't get hurt, but it scared the fool out of me. Now, whenever I do anything battery related, it makes my blood pressure go up. Batteries seem like an easy to work on and around, but I am telling you there is a real reason they put them in the trunk of a race car.
Hang in there Robert
Always something I know when my turbo went out there was a shxx load of rollin coal .
Yeah welcome to Tampa . They do that shit here all the time. But I'm glad to see you in my area. Would like to ran into you guys
Robert i have a harbor freight 5000 watt continuous 10000 watt peak inverter for around 400.00 and an 8000 btu ac model is a Serenelife SLPAC8 off of amazon for around 330.00 that i have in my truck and it's only drawing around 500 watts on the inverter witch handles it with ease, i may down the road purchase the 12,000 btu ac witch is suppose to only use around 1200 watts. truck ac systems are so dam expensive to maintain.
I'm beginning to think this inverter is bad
Hey Robert!
I certainly hope that you are using rosin core solder and NOT acid core.
Ken
C'mon man put u-bolts on headache rack 🙂
Those u chains are working great 😃
Don’t worry it will be something simple fuel to the injectors is always my number one issue.
high exaust Temps can be too much fuel in the exaust ie bad fuel injectors. or a restriction.
If the Mack kicks the bucket get Pre 2006 semi truck so that way you don't have to deal with DEF and trucks are much easier to work on. But would not able run into California.
Keep it up man. When you step in shit, if you keep walking it’ll eventually rub off.
Comfort pro takes forever to start when cold.
Remember when it was squealing? That was boost pushing through one of your boot clamps..
Highway 41 Tampa thats my running lane everyday.
I like the cojones on you to tackle this yourself, good for you!
Call Thermo King tell him what motor you got and they'll have the glow plugs after you get the glow plugs install loosen up the fittings to the injectors turn the fuel pump on Grantham motor for a minute then close off the lines it should fire
How much to pick a jeep Cherokee in Foley Alabama to Valdosta Ga???
Give it a shot of go-go juice
Rule of thumb for starting electric motors is that the inrush current will be 5 to 7 times the running watts - so look at the data plate where it says running its or FL amps- FL stands for full load... if the data is expressed in amps - do the math and then multiply that answer by the voltage- so in your case it will be 120... so for example if your ac pulls 5 amps you can say 5 × 5 = 25 amps inrush amps x 120 = 3000 watts to be able to start the compressor... so you can work this formula backwards if you know the capability of your inverter- so inverter watts divided by the output voltage so 2000 ÷ 120 = 16.6 amps ÷ 5 (inrush multiplier) = 3.3 amps - so if your ac pulls more that 3.3 amps odds are ye inverter probably wont be able to start it... but all is not lost you can source up what is called a soft start - it is designed to solve the exact problem you have - its operation gets into some long haired math I'm sure you dont want to hear. With this info you will be able to size your equipment properly... if u have any questions hit me up - I'm a retired master electrician and do electrical generation system design...
if you mow the tall weeds in the ditch you prob have less mosquitos..there was enuff fail in this video for 3 videos keep em comin
It's a Mack !
It's not your fault .
Your new, remember a dump truck gets ran harder than you'll ever imagine.
That truck was wore out and had these issue when you got it. That's why it was cheap and he wanted to sell !
Next time you want a tractor give me a call or message, I'll help you find one in your budget range and fairly priced.
I do all types.of government auctions and such ..
I put a mr cool mini split ac in my truck it runs off my 4000w magnum inverter.
Dont burn your Peter beaters use pliers with burn proof handle.any nuts will do if the fit. Should prime it,well damn shit happen s might be easier pulling the head th as tapping it. I bet you can get to it easily now. Northern are ass back words. Turbo hose may be off.( forgetaboutit you can figure this out or find a smart ass than will do it for you) I have faith in you man you can do it.
Dude use the lithium battery 12v ac system . $4000+ system -- $ 2400 2 Chinese 300Ah lithium ion - $ 300 lipo battery management - $ 1000 300 amp hi output alternator - ac unit from china for $900 last 10+ hours.. if want more hours add flex solar 375w. will last all day long. no noise and maintenance free.
Please go get or make some U bolts for you headache rack. Take the chains off before the DOT sees them.
Thermo King dealer have them they have all parts for them kind of APU
it's called on the job training! Lol
24:37
Hahahaha good thing I seen your Monster. I had totally forgot I put 2 in the freezer to chill them down almost an hour ago now🤣 Robert out here saving subscribers drinks😂
Haha
Get that red spray for those battery terminals..anti corrosion..goid luck!
U doing better in semi trucking ?
Maybe the turbo actuator
Eventually you will get the bugs worked out of that truck and things will stabilize.
Boss if I have my pickup for hotshot can I be your driver on your company how much will I pay if you agree to be with your dot n llc.. Just thinking I'm from the west coast
Could be a bad exhaust back pressure sensor.
Many believe hydraulic crimping is better. 4/0 100% copper cable for 3000w 12v inverter.
You might want to call thermo King see if they have or can sell you a couple
What part of Georgia do you live?
Go to thermal king they sell it there
EGR or turbo
You did have a boost leak in the last video I remember
Thanks for cranking out a 30 min video. That must have been a lot of editing!
Not every truck anymore, CNG fuel are over taking the diesel runner semis
The thumbnail is hysterical 🤣
He obviously caught a lot of slack for chaining on the headache rack . So he took this picture to get them going again.
@@96dodgeram most definitely lol
talk to gentry and sons youtube channel about your boost hes a great mechanic
The Apu center in Stafford, mo will overnight you your glow plugs. Bill
Do you have contact I can ask you few questions about my Mack?
Thermo king installed my APU they may have your glow plugs
But it is what it is.
Dont no if u see these comments glad the truck fired up after that
I hope that was not rusty water in the cylinders of the APU..
Red coolant 😁
Need to bleed the injector lines probably.
My thought too. I am betting by now that engine is up and running
I'd like to help you but ......I don;t know
What's up
