I thought I'd hit two birds with one stone , and click on this Dylan sings Sinatra video ! I know very little about both , but glad to be educated Mark ! 🎵🎵💚💚👈😺🤓👍
My pleasure, Piccolina! Thanks for dropping by!
Nicely done Mark! Like you, I was raised in a household with my Dad playing Sinatra, Nat 'King' Cole, Ella, and all the big band stuff. I came to appreciate that style of music as I got older, and we bonded over the love of that music. I am a Dylan fan, and heard this was a well done genre lp. I will check it out!😎
Thanks, Ed! I came to appreciate my father's big band and classical records. I think I have a mental block regarding Sinatra. I was surprised while doing research that this record was so well-received. I assumed it would have been panned by the critics. It was a pleasant surprise!
Hi Mark! I have the very same version I believe with the cd. Great story about your dad, you and Frank. I have not heard a bad Dylan record to date however out of my discography from him it is I’m sure one of the least played.. You are correct though at a certain time and place it is a great spin. Getting to know your vinyl addict thread has rose from the dead! Nothing wrong with the impromptu stream of consciousness video!
Thanks, Shawn! It definitely won't be a record I play often, but it sure has been nice getting reacquainted with it. Can you believe that thread has risen from the ashes like the Phoenix? That's what some constant whining can do for a fellow.
Hey Mark. Interesting stuff here. I may need to stream this one to check it out. I'm all about the Solitude and melancholy music depending on my mood. Ive only got 2 Dylan albums and one of them is a compilation. Thanks for the shoutout at the end. Greatly appreciate it. Cheers, Darryl.
Thanks, Darryl! My guess is that this will only be a record hardcore Dylan fans will enjoy. But I could be wrong!
I originally bought the vinyl and it did indeed come with the cd but the cd does not have cover art, which is one quibble. I didn’t like Sinatra but I heard some of his early stuff with big band and it was so good. I also heard some of his stuff when he’s older and that got me too. Bob’s vocals are definitely smoky. Awesome video especially since you mentioned the kooky GG!!! You did great at the impromptu speak from the heart style!
Thanks, GG! Once I finished filming this I realized I forgot about a half dozen profound observations I meant to highlight. Probably all for the best. Thanks for your continued support and all your kookiness!
@@MarkMorris-1962 In a comment I asked if you’d like contact with me in a written form (I worded it in a more modern way) but I think the comment was blocked.
@@garagegeek4863 Absolutely! Why would they block that? Do you have Instagram? Lots of VC folks are there and it's easy to message.
@@MarkMorris-1962 yes. D Molinaro or David Molinaro. I don’t check there often but I’ll be on the lookout for you.
Very surprising but it makes since! When i listened to that album wasnt for me but im glad you like it!
Definitely not for everyone! I don't think I would have liked this at all 40 years ago. But now I kinda get it.
Loved them both. Enjoyed the video.
Thanks, Tony! I think I must have a blind spot, or deaf spot, when it comes to Frank.
That is in deed a lovely record. Been a while, I should spin it again. Also, the vinyl album looks really nice! No, Morten, the CD is enough 😄 Thank you for a great video about this record. I have lots of Sinatra records. Confused and delighted my father in equal measure 😄
Yes, you're good with the cd, Morten. Save your money! I don't know if I ever delighted my father, but I know I confused him plenty! Thanks for always being so supportive, Morten. I am already thinking about my responses to your contest!
@@MarkMorris-1962 Thank you Mark.
Hey Mark! I own everything Dylan has released, with the exception of his Christmas albums, and the standards albums he did. Just not the Bob I want to hear. Same thing with Rod Stewart and his American songbook series. I guess the fact that I don't care for Sinatra or that type of music makes it easy for me. But if you like it, more power to you. Cheers!
@alltheworldsastage899 I don't like Sinatra, either. Never have been able to get into him. But Sinatra channeled through Dylan has a place, I think. It'll never take the place of Dylan's own genius lyrics and sound, though. You're a good man, Steve. Your wise takes are always sound! Well, except for maybe your take of On the Beach 🙂
I’m not familiar with this record. Sounds interesting.
I doubt you'd like this, Jason, but you surprised me with Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands!
I don’t have to listen to that recording to know it’s abominable. Dylan should never have taken up a career in music, at least not as a singer.
Yep, a lot of people feel that way. Not me, but I have lots of friends who hate his voice. Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to comment.
