Small advice with the anubias, try not to plant the rhiozome in the substrate because it might rot, other than that the tank looks really nice, hope everything works out.
Hi! I was wondering if you could help me. I recently bought a betta fish from a local store, and its top fin has been down since I got it. Do you know if this is normal or if it might be a health issue?
Omg you have a amazing tank and betta❤ A tip I would give you is that maybe try adding Indian almond leaves or botanicals for the betta tank because botanicals fit the water parameters with a betta. Hope this betta lives a happy life!!
Little tip for catching shrimp. From one who had to catch maaany. I use a little cup like the ones from the in vitro or easy grow plants. I feel like the shrimps won’t jump off as fast and I can handle them way more gentle than with a net :)
Sorry, another thing! You could use a sponge on the filter tube, so no shrimp baby’s will be sucked in. Also a sponge maxes out the filtration and the shrimps will love to nibble from it :) I really enjoyed your video, just wanted to share those two thoughts :)
It's crazy you only have 35 subscribers, this video was great!! i also loved seeing how well kept those betta fish were in the pet store, it breaks my heart the way they're usually kept here in the states 😭
This is so nice - thank you! Don't get me wrong there are definitely stores in Australia where theyre kept in cups 😪 I've been lucky to find a store that takes great care of their fish and now they're my go-to! Glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Theres an albino bristlenose in there! He's about 2 years old now and has grown half an inch in that time. We have a bigger tank that they go into when they outgrow the nano tanks!

i had a hang on filter similiar to yours and it randomly but rarely made some sort of water bridge underneath the tubing of the inlet which formed a tiny stream of water dripping down the backwall damaging my furniture. i will never use a hang-on-filter ever again
first time planted aquarium installer and i just put together a new 5 gallon for my betta fish. how long should i let the aquarium sit before adding my betta?
At least one week, and add some fish food into the empty tank on day 1. This will kick start the Nitrogen Cycle - something which can be handy to learn for fish keeping. Good luck!
I have brought my filtration system to a stage where my filter isn't being cleaned at all, the nutrients are held in the filter, processed by the bacteria then dumped back into the tank where bacteria and micro fauna living in the substrate break it down again. the final stage is then tackled by the roots of plants that use it,, Honestly if you think about it,,, there isn't much point doing a water change, cleaning your filter and then being in a position where your having to then supplement your tank by adding more nutrients because you have just removed it all...! an equilibrium will only occur if you foster those conditions....!
@@gremlinjesse You have a lot of taste and your composition is very beautiful. Can pothos and a spider plant in the background survive without soil? Did you put the roots directly in water? Thank you
@@bile897oh no sorry to hear! This could be swim bladder or bloat? Try feeding them smaller portions of food, and fasting them for one day a week. I feed 5-6 small betta pellets a day and then skip feeding them on Saturdays. Good luck!!
Oh no sorry to hear that! I find with a combination of long fin bettas + floating plants + 1inch low water level, means I've never had a jumper yet. I really appreciate the feedback!
Hi, It is a beautiful setup and a good betta. His tail has some damage this may be due to flow of the filter or him getting injured due to sharp object or stress. Slow filter current and indian almond leaves will help 😊
beautiful aquascapes but for the betta type a water column of 12/15 cm would be more suitable because as it is a fish that is not used to swimming and is territorial it stresses it!
@@gremlinjesse It's not a java fern (possibly an echinodorus), otherwise it would be dead as the roots would rot - same goes for anubias. They are epiphytes, can only be attached to wood, rock, etc.
Is that guy in the background playing JakII on Ps2? What a gamer

Ohhhhh thank you for the advice! This should be an easy fix I can do. Thank you for watching! 😊
That also is the reason your Java fern hasn't taken off. The rhizome shouldn't be buried either.
Love the setup and Crispy
