I grew up singing and I was a little girl I wanted to grow up and be a famous singer. Then once I realized the secular music industry is pretty dark & competitive, I didn’t pursue it. Now I just pray to God to help me to only look to him to sing in worship. Unfortunately the churches I’ve gone to aren’t accepting to new comers. I just think I’ll sing on Instagram and call myself the “church choir reject”. Lol 😂 I choose to find the humor in it & I know God has given me a gift to sing but I have yet to find an outlet to share. Maybe one day I’ll figure it out. Thank you for your channel. ❤️
I forgot to mention in my previous comment that the two of you made me start thinking about what fears I might have. I have always feared not being liked, until a few years ago when someone I trusted ripped me apart, told me I’m ugly, told me I’m worthless, and God called me to the mountains to heal me. After that, I no longer fear what people think of the way I look - I am what I am, God made me this way, and He loves me unconditionally. The only other fear I could think of is the fear of being a burden to my family. I would be afraid to drive a scooter because I’d be afraid something would happen and I’d be unable to care for myself, an extra load for my family to bear. (Oddly, I wouldn’t fear riding behind a responsible driver in a residential area...) Thank you for this thought-provoking conversation.
Rose Seward I think a large part of my being picked on was because I, too, was shy and terrified of messing up somehow and being ridiculed. Bullies love signs of weakness in their targets, and shyness is one of their favorites.
I love your story about God using Mark in your life. He has used him in mine, as well. I love that Mark is unfailingly gracious with us, bless his dear heart! The first time I met him I asked if I could take a picture of him, and he said, “OF me? Why not WITH me?”, and while I was still stammering out how I look awful in pictures, he twirled me around, took a selfie with me, preached me a sermon about not agreeing with God that I’m worthwhile, and then said, “You are beautiful, and don’t you ever forget it!” Oh, if I could have bottled the feeling those words gave me! I had a smile in my heart for weeks afterward! Still do, for that matter, even after all these years.
BTW, re: 2Timothy 1:7 - On 9/11, my then-6-year-old nephew was in his kindergarten class. The kids and the teacher were anxious, uneasy, and the teacher had the kids walking around a globe saying, “Jesus is Lord over all the earth.” My nephew stopped, turned to face them, threw up his hands, and quoted that verse. Turns out, that’s the verse his parents taught him because he was afraid of the dark, and he said it at bedtime every night. And then, when his teacher and classmates needed to hear it most, he taught it to them. Amen! ❤️
I really liked it when Patsy thanked you Mark for what you do for the body of Christ. You provide medicine in the form of laughter. You have a wonderful voice and are a talented song writer. Thank you.

Yes! Me too! Women of faith was such a blessing! I will never forget her motor cycle story! She was about as tall as my grandmother was and the thought of my grandma doing something like that still makes me laugh!

I loved this episode. I loved that you both shared your vulnerabilities. Mark, you have always seemed to feel that you aren’t as handsome as anyone else, but I’m here to tell you that you are one of the most handsome men I have ever met, and the Christian love that radiates from your smile, your eyes, and every particle of your being just serves to enhance that attractiveness. You have NOTHING to fear about people not liking you once they get to know you, because once they get to know you, they will love you!

You are a kindred spirit-I fall asleep during the slow songs, and have been booted out of many churches. I love the Afro American churches, where they have the rhytm and feel free to worship our Lord and Savior freely. At first, I was scared as I visited, but soon felt led to join in by their enthusiasm to praise the Lord. It was hard to go back to the conservative Baptist church that sang the Boring songs that repeated the same words over and over! I never had Ridlin-(my family has), but had been schooled in hospitals throughout the years, so heard lectures in my sleep. I thank God, I am here at all-I still drive everyone crazy. I definitely hide with my humor, as I feel inferior to a lot of better looking, smarter people. It is easier to laugh at myself, as I have accidentally offended everyone so many times.

I agree with your view of animals. We had a Shitzu Poodle and boy was he a Ball of Fire. He didn't like to be dressed in diapers and Baby Bonnets, like our Beagle. Pepe, always got his revenge, like taking apart my Mom's almost finished crocheting or knitting. He unraveled my beautiful sweater once, and boy did I (yes, I) got in trouble! No fair-Snoopy the beagle was a dreamboat, but Pepe was a Devil.
