I pray for the people that gave this a thumbs down. If you have experienced any of this , it is painful. If you have done, any of this, you may feel convicted. But, this is truth. It pains me, because of the past. But, the past is the past. But, out of our scars, people can be healed.

I am 48 and live in South Africa and just came across this. I just want to say thank you Sandi what a blessing u are! When I started my vocal training (many many years back) I only sang Sandi's song which had such a really special meaning to me. I am sure I have just about every CD/tape etc released. Keep blessing the way u do - Leigh xxx

The hardest thing ever was my divorce. I prayed on it and waited years hoping he would go to counseling. He refused so for the sake of my children and for me I do what I know was best. I lost so called Christian friends who never walked in my steps..but I gained a much closer relationship with my heavenly father. I pray one day I will find love again.

and divorce, especially in church or the Christian community can really be.... I don't have the right word. have never been married but went through two divorce in church; one was my favorite pastor(that one broke my heart) and a couple in the church I went to for 14 years. I saw people I thought I knew really well, do and say things that just SHOCKED me. I was never asked by the couples involved to take a side(I was able to love both of them-ie-the spouses) but everyone else wanted me to take a side. the only other thing that i have seen churchs divided as quickly , is what to sing for Worship God bless

May the blessing of light be upon you, light on the outside and light on the
inside. With God's sunlight shining on you, may your heart glow with warmth
like a turf fire that welcomes friends and strangers alike.
May the light of the Lord shine from your eyes like a candle in the window,
      welcoming the weary traveller.
May the blessing of God's soft rain be on you, falling gently on your head,
refreshing your soul with the sweetness of little flowers newly blooming.
May the strength of the winds of Heaven bless you, carrying the rain to wash
your spirit clean, sparkling after, in the sunlight.
May the blessing of God's earth be on you and as you walk the roads, may you
always have a kind word for those you meet.
May you understand the strength and power of God in a thunderstorm in winter,
the quiet beauty of creation and the calm of a summer sunset.
And may you come to realize that insignificant as you may seem in this great
universe, you are an important part of God's plan.
May He watch over you and keep you safe from harm.

Heck, I lived through Sandi’s trauma and was heartbroken for her and her kids.... I was upset and even a little angry, so I can’t begin to imagine what they went through as the security of their family was torn apart.
The first time I heard her sing, “We Shall Behold Him” I found myself standing during the final chorus with tears streaming down my face and not realizing I had gotten out of my seat. I thought, I must look like a complete idiot standing up here crying while everyone else is still sitting when I realized it. Then I looked around and saw everyone was standing and weeping..... I’ve never before or since experienced such a thing unless I was the one singing. It was beautiful.
I went to her concerts every time she was in town and it was always amazing. Always! Then, shortly before the news broke, I went to a concert with Sandi and some other artists (but I was there for Sandi) and as soon as she sang the first few notes I knew something had changed and began to pray through the rest of the concert that God would help her to deal with whatever “it” was that I sensed. I’m glad to see that she is doing well.

Sandi is another person I'd like to meet and have a conversation with. She used to live down the street from my aunt in Anderson, Indiana. I had my pic taken in front of her house (from the street) back in 1992. I wrote her once after her divorce and she actually wrote me back personally. I still have the letter. Such a genuine person.

The older I get the more I realize that we all have had heartbreak and the way we deal with it forms who we become. I am dealing with loss right now and heartbreak is real! But it helps a lot when others share what they are going through. None of us are perfect, and God has others to support and encourage when necessary. Thank you Jesus for caring that much about us! Also thank you, Mark and Andrew for being faithful in hosting this program.

I just saw this conversation... better late than never, right... and what a blessing. The same things happened to me, except I was the little girl who always played the piano and had to accompany the adults who were not so nice. My dad was amazing, tho. As the choir director at our church, he never hurt me, he always believed me... and believed in me... what a blessing to hear I am not the only one, and I am not alone. Thank you all for sharing so honestly... much love from your sister in Maine. Please be safe and blessed... 🙏🙏❤️❤️

I always loved your songs. They were so powerful and uplifting. I went through a divorce when my 2 boys were 7 and 4. Very hard, but my ex-husband and I strived to get along, and not bad-mouth each other in front of the boys.
My boys cried every night for their father at night, so I would let them call their Dad, and leave the room so they could talk in private. It was so hard, because I wanted to (and sometimes did) tell him off for leaving us. The boys had a hard time with me dating, but several years later, I met someone who understood. We've been together 20 years-not married. He takes care of his Mother and I took care of mine until she passed in December 2018. My boys have come to accept him in our lives, but it has been hard. My ex-husband married a really nice woman, and she had a huge family. We saw each other constantly, as we were a musical family and at different non-profit benefits-we HAD to be civil, and not create a scene.
Thank you Ms. Patty for helping us through this with your openess and music. My ex-husband died of throat cancer a year ago on my oldest son's birthday-very hard. There have been many deaths in the family since then, and I am recovering from a knee replacement gone bad, so this Dinner Conversation really speaks to my heart. Praise God, for all of you. I tend to use humor to shield my pain.
One last advice from me, and take it how you will. I believe the best marriages, are where the spouses live in two different houses, or can have a huge attic to retreat to.

That was soooo profound what Sandi said about blended families always starting with a loss of some sort. I was a child of divorced parents, then a blended family with a step-mother that rejected me.....later I went through a divorce myself but remarried happily into a blended family, we each having our own kids. It was tough!!! But thankfully we've weathered the storms, praise the Lord! But I never considered her premise - she is so correct!

Well in my own experience of coming from a divorced home, I came to fear that I will be left. The fear of being left or rather the fear of my husband leaving and all the insecurities that go along with that. It took me a divorce myself to realize that I am enough. My strength came to me when I realized that and loved myself, faults and all...Love this show. I made sure my daughter's did not grow up with that philosophy. The most painful time in my life taught me exactly what you shared. I am complete in Christ and I also learned to like/love myself...Now I am able to give of myself and not let someone else complete me. I realize this was from a year ago, but I only just found this video, and it's a great one for families to listen to. The one thing that touched me was this: Around 13:20 Sandi began speaking about their 'name' and the need for one that took everyone into consideration. Some friends of ours have a blended family and their solution to this, I felt was genius, and that was that they became 'both' families. For example, lets take random last names like.... Smith and Jones, they all became, the Smith Family AND the Jones Family. Of course each had their own names, but when they referred to each other, it could be either, "Come on Smith Family, or Come on Jones Family, lets get ready to go". Sandi made a great point earlier when she said that blended families are born out of loss, that is the exact truth, so in owning that, and recognizing that fact, keep in mind for that very same reason, there could be bitterness, rage, rebellion, and anger as well. There will be some people who don't want to be recognized as part of the " Jones" family, so in that case, it's best to try another technique that works for everyone. You need to convey love and healing, rather than division, so whatever the solution, it *MUST* work for everyone.

he sang a song, he had a guitar ,the song I think was ‘ chat ‘ were his mother would call him and his siblings to the table. They could confess anything they felt was wrong, and there would be no punishment, do u remember that? Hearing Sandie now,it just come to me. Anyway , she’s smashing and I’m enjoying it, wow. Lol. This was an incredible interview. I know that Sandi mentioned that when our children are young is time to start that table conversation, asking them about their hi and low of the day. All I can think is that it's not something I learned raising my children, but I can't help but think that maybe it's still something that can be done with our adult children. Unless there's advice in how to speak to our adult children, can it still be beneficial to at least begin in that manner? Or is there another way of going about it?

I remember when your family traveled to various churches singing together and ours was one of those. Atwater Church of God in CA. You were 17 years old and sang a Karen Carpenter song with a few of the words changed. Your mama played the piano so ☆Magnificently. Your Dad's voice so amazing. It would have been good to hear how she worked through her own choice to walk away from her first marriage and how God worked on her own heart and how her children have had to deal with that. I totally believe in redemption and restoration. Hearing that would have been more helpful.

I would have loved to hear more about the details of her trauma that caused her to commit adultery and how she healed those wounds. Talking about blended families is good, but talking about how to avoid those circumstances would help a lot of people. We know it's not God's best to have to deal with that situation due to sin on one of the parents part. It's like people want to talk about how to mitigate the damage instead of how to avoid that kind of damage.

God heals the brokenhearted. He calls us all to repentance. New buzz words in the church: conversation, celebrate, story, invite...anything but sin, rebellion, wrong choices, humility, contrite. I loved Sandi back in the day. But her anointing seems gone now even with the same voice and Songs . Glad she's made her new life work. But I'm not impressed with her "work arounds". The kids always pay the price the most. That never goes away no matter how much counseling. Better to stay married - commitment through good and bad times teaches children more than post divorce counseling.

Amen. It seems we're more concerned with our feelings and rights than we are about breaking a Holy God's Word. She chose to have an affair, and then falsely accused her husband of abuse in an effort to save her career.

I saw Sandi Patty in concert and she brought her children and husband on stage. It was right after that, we heard she was having an affair with her back up singer. I was so disappointed. Of course, she is forgiven, but at the same time she was singing that night of the Holy God we all serve, all while she was committing adultery. I celebrate her blended family, but I wonder how her first husband feels. We are all sinners saved by grace, but I have a hard time taking advice from someone who has played a part in destroying TWO marriages.

You are not alone. The news had a significant impact on me as a young adult. I felt betrayed because she was singing those amazing songs that really ministered to me but I felt she was the biggest hypocrite and liar, at the time. I know people would say why are you making someone's life affect you so much, but she was such a "godly role model " for me. She did so much damage. HOWEVER, through prayer... she she has repented and it is between her family and God. God is in control and I do wish Sandy and her family the best. Additionally, I pray her former husband is really at peace with the past and is truly happy now.

Has Sandi Patty really repented for real? Only God knows. She used story of Noah to explain her blended family and gloss over her adultery. Perhaps she ought to read David and Bathsheba and how prophet Nathan rebuked David.

I can only imagine how hard it must be parenting in a blended family. Especially as a Christian. To a degree, you’ve lost your credibility as far as relationships or marriages are concerned, having failed once or twice in the past. So how can you be taken seriously as a parent? You would have to tread lightly on that subject among others.
