There are several other guys that have the potential to get the same scores(over 300) but they are inconsistent. So it depends on if they are having a bad day or not at the Olympics. Jason Brown however, on his best day, even with a perfect skate would never come close to the podium. He doesn’t have the technical score. He is up against not only Nathan, but also Hanyu and Yuma (top three at Worlds last year) and also Shoma Uno. All of those skaters are going to score higher on the second mark than a recent junior like Ilia. So he is going in with probably a 5-10 point disadvantage to start. Jason is a great artist but does not come close to the 302 point Ilia received along with the Silver medal! Do you think Russia would not have hesitated to pick him if they could. Every other country would do the same. The US Figure Asscn needs to stop pandering people’s feelings and select whomever is likely to bring home medals. That is what the Olympics is about. If. Hen and Zhou skated well and Ilia did as well, we likely had a chance to sweep the men’s Olympic medals. Not selecting this amazing 17yr old age eligible amazing skater is a huge mistake. Period. Full Stop. Mistake. And that whole thing of looking at their body of work? Ilia recvd 302 points and silver medal. And he is consistent. Needs to work on his artistry, he has no flow. His spins are terrible. His arms flail, the music wasn't the best. A lot of potential, but he needs to refine the details.

Thank you for saying it. The gays rule figure skating in America, and that's why the quad-less gay guy was selected over the American Yuzu. American figure skating is a joke.

@@JosedeJezeus...the "American Yuzu"? Lol. Is that why Yuzuru fans like Ilia? You guys worship Yuzu so much that you would superimpose him onto another skater? Give me a break. Ilia is Ilia, and he will eventually kick Yuzuru's butt too, just like Nathan has been doing.

Yes, the gay lobby is strong in figure skating, and those are the politics at play behind the scenes.

@@JosedeJezeus...not really. Ilia has long legs but a short torso. He's not really like Yuzuru. And Nathan has a completely different body type. He's more balanced, in terms of legs and torso length, and also more muscular. Still, he is the quad king. Pretty sure skating talent and good technique have a lot more to do with it. Fortunately for Ilia, him training under Nathan's coach and team means he will also have great technique.
