i know this is a 9 months old video, but it doesn't seem as if you've done any dinosaur/reptilian modeling since then, so i will leave my critique here.
props on the actual modeling--it's really cool. as for the model itself--it is a lot less "shrink wrapped" than the previous reptilian models you did, but could probably stand to have more flesh on it, particularly on the head (the sunken-in eyes and jutting bones make it look starved). if you compare a modern-day animal like a horse or rhinoceros to its skeleton, there is a lot of mass made up by muscle, fat, and internal organs.
as herbivorous creatures, i imagine that ceratopsids would probably have similar masses to large modern-day herbivores, again, like the rhinoceros. i am not an expert on dino anatomy, so someone else could probably give a better critique, but...i didn't see anyone else giving critiques, so here i am.
again, the modeling itself is amazing and i know i couldn't do better! just, look up some stuff about doing better dino anatomy if you ever decide to model another one. that's my advice
I think most of the Problems in this one occured Because he started with modelling with the image of an Albertoceratops as a reference. Now, I do think that jutted eyes is not that much of a Problem. I think it's because he chose wrong anatomy for this Creature by choosing a wrong reference image
This Pachyrhinosaurus looks like it hadn't eaten anything for a week XD
well it's been about 70 million years more or less since it probably ate.
Maybe because it had feathers in real life. look up pictures of birds without feathers... equally awkward :P
Pachyrhinosaurus didn't have any feathers besides quills, and even that is speculative.
That would mean it needs baggy and thick feathers to look thicker. it already has enough muscle on it, why carry more weight on it's back?
I Pachy is a ceratopsian and ceratopdian didn't have feathers :)
makes eyes front-facing - never knew pachyrhino was a predator haha
jokes aside, i still marvel at this. i'm shit at box-modelling and videos like this really help me understand how i can go about it. thanks so much for sharing!
Blender is a seriously underrated sculpting program. Way to go! :)
whoa, what you do during painting is magic
incredible work.
I am always amazed by your work and seeing the entire process gives some great insight into blenders functions/features. Keep up the good work!
AWESOME!!!
awesome work man awesome no words to say
amazing. it looks incredibly complicated and your level of skill astounds me
Bruh u work so amazingly efficiently, thank you for sharing your workflow with us!
Amazing work, jaw dropping amazing work
Great work, looks awesome
I love it that you show us the full process :) really nice work!
very nice to see new videos from you!
Very nice job !
Man, you are good. I wish I was that accomplished in blender.
Congrulations Man is fantastic
Great work!
muy bueno, me encanta
Impressive.
MASS EFFETC!!!
Jesus, those muscles scare me. It looks like this Pachy has been working out a ton.
Awesome
This look much better than my cube I made
wow ... awesome :O
WOAH (mind BLOWN)
Amazing bro!
This work is truly amazing. I want to get into the 3D modeling career some day. Going to Tech Campus next year hopefully they can teach me a few things in the class I'm gonna take
i see blender , i upvote
really nice
Awesome
Wow, it's very fantastic, I liked a lot see it. ^^
if i was this good, i would already be the lead character designer for Disney.
now i know that this is what i need
Could you make these downloadable? Great work it astounds me how much work you put forth for a small ( in compare to other channels ) audience thank you.
Nice
Make a chicken next! The modern dinosaur. Fearsome, proud, delicious.
this is beautiful you should take and do a bunch of dinos and make a short little film of them moving
Spore God that's a lot of work lol
Cool it's pachy on the walking with dinosaurs
👍
more tutorials please, so we can learn the tools you're using. It is a little too fast to tell at this speed even if i try and pause, it would be helpful for us to hear you explaining the beginning points, and how you start, and what tools you use the most.
woof
how did you do the clone brushing thing that clone from the 3d view at 11:48
david silaen that's what I want to know!
Amazing job !! May you make it as a tutorial, please? I,ve watched your Creature Creation - Spino one, but this new has an improved painting way I've already tryed, using microdisplacement and the Principled node, but without success !! I thank you a lot !!
epico
Hey man, love your videos, perhaps you can break these down to smaller videos and give explanations as you make the models?
im love this video soo mash im can watsh this video in slow
Awesome!! How are you so good in making this!?
Practice practice practice! He's so good, and done so goddamn many, that there's no guesswork. He just goes in, creates what he wants to, no trial and error whatsoever. Amazing!
Great WORK!! I use Maya personally, lacking in texturing doe, does your texturing way have a specific technique name??
wow amazing
btw skąd wziąłeś takie tekstury ? :D
Najlepszy w blenderze :P Zarabiasz na tym czy na razie robisz to tylko dla siebie?
łysa pała to co mam na yt to dla siebie, ale pracuje jako grafik 3D
Thank you for telling me to start slow and not go for the big things. 😁
Awesome speed art! :D
Is it Substance Painter that you use for texturing? :o
I like the music! @2:20 it sounds like Portal!
Ben - think the background music is from the Mass Effect series. ..
Mass Effect then sure sounds a hell of a lot like Portal.
I think it's from Crysis
Awesome work man!!! Can you please tell me where did you learn all these stuff???
BTW Happy New year!!!
Aman Chhonkar probably self taught. Like almost all artists
How did you get the texture veiw mode to look so good?
Tight Dino.
How did you get such big rendering squares ? Do you have a really good cpu or is it in the preferences ?
Leonidass I render on GPU, and you can change size of squares in render performance
Oh ok, thank you a lot ^^
www.blendernation.com/2013/10/01/auto-tile-size-addon/
Do you make the textures or do you pull them off a website? If you make them, can you PLEASE make a tutorial on how to make the textures! Also good job with the video!
This pachyrinosaurus looks like an alberta ceratops
great Work 👍... you work online also with Blender?
Maybe making an offspring variant as extra credit would be nice.
How did you keep the UV map so clean for texturing/painting after free sculpting? Don't you usually have to re-do the topograpghy after sculpting?
how are you able to sculpt so finely without applying the subsurf and keeping a simple mesh?
He copiyed the original low - poly meshed model to another layer, than appliyed the multiresolution modifier to the original mesh, to sculpt it till subdiv. 4, only to obtain the displacement and normal maps to apply back to low poly one he just copied. Just take a look at his Spinossaurus tutorial, is the same workflow.
Can anyone tell me what he's doing at 0:38 (cuts through the mesh to create the mouth). Is it knife project or something?.. So useful that it cuts through the entire mesh instead of just creating edges, I keep spotting him doing it but can't catch what tool it is.
If you don't mind me asking, I have a couple of questions ^^' I noticed you added extra bones at the bottom of the hind legs, what were their purpose? Also, when it came to adding the scale texture and colors, what tools did you use? As a newbie to Blender I've yet to stumble across something like that but it would make things a lot easier ^^' My last two questions are what was that tool towards the end where you were adjusting the textures and colors and such, and how did you separate each section you were working with? Sorry if it's a lot ^^' like I said, I'm new to Blender and those couple of things I've either struggled with or never seen. Such as the separating each part of the mesh so I can attach that section to a bone, I've always struggled with it because I had to go in and manually select the parts I wanted ^^'
Auria_Autumn blender usually automatically assigns the bones to the parts of the mesh. Then you can use weight paint to touch it up. I haven't reached the bones segment but I assume you are referring to the IK bone added to the feet. It's an extra bone that you can drag around when you need to move a whole leg without animating each bone
Auria_Autumn the textures were applied with a brush tool but I have little knowledge using those tools so I can't explain more than that.
Wyman and Brad Gaming Co. Thank you for responding ^^ Very helpful! Blender automatically assigns the mesh to bones? Huh. That's news to me ^^' When I was taught an older version for school, I was told to select a section and assign it to the bone so it knows what to move.
Could you do some tutorials about organic modeling and modeling in general?
So that black and white texture that he had done at 12:07 was an ambient occlusion map?
Possible for download?
At 1:43 how does he make the eyes like he inserts another square but adds more vertex's to make it more circular i dont know how to add more vertex's to a already made edge
help pls
Specifications of your pc? Your work is amazing :)
Yeah, same question. Displace is very fast.
Willyam Bradberry you know this video is a time lapse right? It's sped up footage.
Where did you download your textures of the imprints on the model??
podrías crear un dragón azul con negro y rojo
Why do you put a bone under each foot?
How do you know how to sculpt the model to make it look realistic?
Where to find bump brushes like this? These would be very useful for me ;)
All step have act in Blender right???
can you make more tutorials please
Aleks Petrov im not Ready for that
I think when it comes to sculpting, there really isn't much to tutor. You just let your imagination go wild. There are a ton of other tutorials covering the basics of modeling in blender and once you know how to use the tools n stuff you can watch timelapse videos and get some ideas from other people's work.
Honestly wish there was a way I could buy a print of this
Не хватает лога нажатия клавиш
I am a beginner animator and have done a few seconds of animation. I don't completely understand why I need to use bones or how they work. Quick question about bones in this video- why was there one under the back paws and why was there one in front of the eyes? Like I said, I'm a noob at animating. :P
OrphanCloud113 Im not a professional myself, but as far as I can tell, bones are used so you can move the vertices right next to them. for example if you have an arm with two bones, upper and lower part of the arm, they only move those parts of the arm. its far easier than to move every single vertex of the mesh. and for the bones in front of the eyes and so on - the eyes are always looking at that bone. if you rotate the bone, you rotate the eyes at the same time so they can focus on one thing. i hope i explained it not too complicated; if you still have questions look into blender tutorials about rigging
With skills like this, do you work at a video game design company? Please respond
I tried doing something like this on blender at school and failed miserably
what is the name of this type of image?
What did he do at 2:33 ?
maybe troodon?
I noticed a jump, did you lose some footage?
Helmut Kohl yeah, some small parts of it
create a dragon
Which program are you using?
blender
Why is it so thin?
Do low poly
Did nobody notice that on the drawing it said it was a Albertoceratops
Why use a reference of a different dino? Yeah its also a ceratopsian But Why not Get a drawing of the one ur doing?
Awesome!
I feel tempted to return to Blender "I was just stille learning and I get the gingerbread man" until get this result:
wiki.blender.org/uploads/thumb/6/63/Manual-Part-I-Quick29.png/600px-Manual-Part-I-Quick29.png
unfortunately, I gave up.
But I hope this feling of learn I can finally get such amazing results of your videos.
You rock!
Lol if you're not working in a AAA VFX studio by the time I graduate High School, I'll be disappointed 😉
eu acho que pronunciar o nome deste dinossauro deve ser mais difícil do que modelar ele... =P
tbh i really didnt care about the skill, i just want to see the tools your using to do all this....
It really has a thin legs
Szczerze? Pierwsze intro było trochę lepsze :-P
Could you slow up the speed of your timelapse ? I wouldn't mind your videos to be 30 or even 45 minutes long because you made your timelapse slower. I really like watching you work and I even learn a ton of new stuff when I watch your videos but I sometime feel like I'm missing something because it went way too fast. Those who want the video to be shorter can always make it faster with the settings of the UA-cam player
Or maybe make other tutorial videos
You could just slow it down in the youtube player
***** I've tried it and you obviously haven't. It is not 60fps so slowing it down by half (not even talking about a quarter which would be better to se anything given the speed of his timelapse) makes it look like a diaporama
Meh I guess your right. I had already slowed it down before commenting FYI.
that is NOT a packyrhinosaurus
im talking about the picture that you are using
