    i know this is a 9 months old video, but it doesn't seem as if you've done any dinosaur/reptilian modeling since then, so i will leave my critique here.
    props on the actual modeling--it's really cool. as for the model itself--it is a lot less "shrink wrapped" than the previous reptilian models you did, but could probably stand to have more flesh on it, particularly on the head (the sunken-in eyes and jutting bones make it look starved). if you compare a modern-day animal like a horse or rhinoceros to its skeleton, there is a lot of mass made up by muscle, fat, and internal organs.
    as herbivorous creatures, i imagine that ceratopsids would probably have similar masses to large modern-day herbivores, again, like the rhinoceros. i am not an expert on dino anatomy, so someone else could probably give a better critique, but...i didn't see anyone else giving critiques, so here i am.
    again, the modeling itself is amazing and i know i couldn't do better! just, look up some stuff about doing better dino anatomy if you ever decide to model another one. that's my advice

      I think most of the Problems in this one occured Because he started with modelling with the image of an Albertoceratops as a reference. Now, I do think that jutted eyes is not that much of a Problem. I think it's because he chose wrong anatomy for this Creature by choosing a wrong reference image

      Maybe because it had feathers in real life. look up pictures of birds without feathers... equally awkward :P

      Pachyrhinosaurus didn't have any feathers besides quills, and even that is speculative.

      That would mean it needs baggy and thick feathers to look thicker. it already has enough muscle on it, why carry more weight on it's back?

    • @brunocastro4558
      @brunocastro4558 6 років тому +1

      He copiyed the original low - poly meshed model to another layer, than appliyed the multiresolution modifier to the original mesh, to sculpt it till subdiv. 4, only to obtain the displacement and normal maps to apply back to low poly one he just copied. Just take a look at his Spinossaurus tutorial, is the same workflow.

    Can anyone tell me what he's doing at 0:38 (cuts through the mesh to create the mouth). Is it knife project or something?.. So useful that it cuts through the entire mesh instead of just creating edges, I keep spotting him doing it but can't catch what tool it is.

  • @Bownimations01
    @Bownimations01 7 років тому

    If you don't mind me asking, I have a couple of questions ^^' I noticed you added extra bones at the bottom of the hind legs, what were their purpose? Also, when it came to adding the scale texture and colors, what tools did you use? As a newbie to Blender I've yet to stumble across something like that but it would make things a lot easier ^^' My last two questions are what was that tool towards the end where you were adjusting the textures and colors and such, and how did you separate each section you were working with? Sorry if it's a lot ^^' like I said, I'm new to Blender and those couple of things I've either struggled with or never seen. Such as the separating each part of the mesh so I can attach that section to a bone, I've always struggled with it because I had to go in and manually select the parts I wanted ^^'

    • @WymanandBrad
      @WymanandBrad 7 років тому +1

      Auria_Autumn blender usually automatically assigns the bones to the parts of the mesh. Then you can use weight paint to touch it up. I haven't reached the bones segment but I assume you are referring to the IK bone added to the feet. It's an extra bone that you can drag around when you need to move a whole leg without animating each bone

    • @WymanandBrad
      @WymanandBrad 7 років тому +1

      Auria_Autumn the textures were applied with a brush tool but I have little knowledge using those tools so I can't explain more than that.

    • @Bownimations01
      @Bownimations01 7 років тому

      Wyman and Brad Gaming Co. Thank you for responding ^^ Very helpful! Blender automatically assigns the mesh to bones? Huh. That's news to me ^^' When I was taught an older version for school, I was told to select a section and assign it to the bone so it knows what to move.

      I think when it comes to sculpting, there really isn't much to tutor. You just let your imagination go wild. There are a ton of other tutorials covering the basics of modeling in blender and once you know how to use the tools n stuff you can watch timelapse videos and get some ideas from other people's work.

    I am a beginner animator and have done a few seconds of animation. I don't completely understand why I need to use bones or how they work. Quick question about bones in this video- why was there one under the back paws and why was there one in front of the eyes? Like I said, I'm a noob at animating. :P

    • @MidasButSilver
      @MidasButSilver 7 років тому

      OrphanCloud113 Im not a professional myself, but as far as I can tell, bones are used so you can move the vertices right next to them. for example if you have an arm with two bones, upper and lower part of the arm, they only move those parts of the arm. its far easier than to move every single vertex of the mesh. and for the bones in front of the eyes and so on - the eyes are always looking at that bone. if you rotate the bone, you rotate the eyes at the same time so they can focus on one thing. i hope i explained it not too complicated; if you still have questions look into blender tutorials about rigging

    Could you slow up the speed of your timelapse ? I wouldn't mind your videos to be 30 or even 45 minutes long because you made your timelapse slower. I really like watching you work and I even learn a ton of new stuff when I watch your videos but I sometime feel like I'm missing something because it went way too fast. Those who want the video to be shorter can always make it faster with the settings of the UA-cam player
