I have Sonoma 14.1 and it does not have the same settings on your screen. I have "privacy and security" and "Touch ID & Password" Payment and Shipping is in "Wallet". Another couple videos have you go to the iPhone Mine is 13), then Messages, Then, "text message forwarding" which I do not have (as well as a bunch of other folks). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
"Text Message Forwarding" option is missing in iOS 17. I had to go to Settings > Messages, turn off iMessage. Turned off my iPhone, turned it on, and once again turn on iMessage. The total turn-off stage fixed the problem for me.
I have been dealing with this problem for a long time but never truly sat down and tried to research how to fix this. This was the first video I saw and I am very pleased in the way you made it so simple and understandable to fix this problem. Thank you !!!
literally thank you so muchhh!! I just got a new phone and was about to melt down here trying to figure out these things that randomly changed and were't working. This helped so much thanks!
Thanks for the video. Texting from my Mac has been working for years until today. I tried toggling Text Message Forwarding but couldn't turn it back on because the option disappeared after I turned it off. Rebooting phone didn't help. But then I noticed a new iOS (17.4) was available. Installed it, Text Message Forwarding returned, and everything works again. How very odd.
I’m signed into my Apple ID and have 2 factor authentication but don’t have the “Enable Messages in iCloud” option. It doesn’t even appear. My software is up to date. 😔
Thank you kindly for this, but after following everything you said to a 'T' including restarting my phone, there is no Text Forwarding selection on my iPhone 14 Pro. ???
Thanks kindly or your reply, but still can't sync them even when everything has been signed/logged in. Grrrr... Incredibly frustrating indeed. (sigh). Thanks anyway@@techlifeunity
Hi, Jessica! I'm struggling with an annoying thing. My 3 devices (iPhone, iPad, Macbook) are synced via iCloud, so I have the iMessage messages on all devices. If I delete a message on my phone, it is automatically deleted on my iPad (That's Perfect!). But the same thing doesn't happen on my Macbook, I have to delete all the messages/chats on my Macbook AGAIN. I've already followed many steps Apple suggests, such as signing out and signing in from each device, but it still doesn't work. Do you know how to fix this?
Thanks a ton for this helpful and easy to follow tutorial. At first I was confused why none of my Iphone text messages were showing up on Mac, but this fixed it straightaway.👍🏽
Yes you can turn off iMessage in your iPhone settings, or you can keep it on for your iPhone and just disable iMessage on your other devices (Mac, iPad, etc.)
There are *message threads that simply do not get synced "completely"* If you're going to use icloud... that's not "straight" The process is kind of buggy
@@rohitnijhawan5281 Agreed. I still have some threads that are FULLY synced, but @Techboomers instructions were EXACTLY what I was looking for and needed. So many other posters/content creators put to too much fluff into the intro that the audience can lose interest fast.
I just upgraded to OS Sonoma on a Mac Mini M1 and iMessage does not work. It is currently in the attempting to sign out but the indicator is spinning and has been spinning for at least 24 hours. I do not have the 'Enable Messages in iCloud' option here but it is in the system settings under iCloud. Any suggestions?
Are you logged into the same Apple ID on both your iPhone and Mac? And do you have iMessage set up on the Mac? You need to have that set up in order to get the forwarding option
@bizuca let me know if this helps. Makes sure you and “send and receive” or “reached for messages at” is your number and you Apple ID on both devices. Then exit from settings and check again to see if you don’t have the “message forwarding” options
Same. But sync just started working. Thing that worked for me: 1) making sure Messages under icloud is enabled. 2) signing out from Messages in Mac, then signing again. Doing this it started to show up after a couple minutes on multiple instances of opening and closing the Messages application… Hope it helps cheers
Had the same issue. Here is what worked for me: 1. Under “send & receive”, only my phone was listed. I changed that so it could receive messages via my Apple ID. 2. Then “Text message forwarding” appeared. And you can take it from there... Hope that works for you too!
This looks nothing like the menus in neither my (updated) iphone nor my mac. There is no ticker for "enable messages in icloud" on my brand new m3 macbook.
right from the start I cannot tell if you are on the phone or laptop and in either case neither my phone or laptop have a category called ' Password and security' so this was SO FRUSTRATING!!
Yes it's the settings icon that should be in your dock at the bottom of your screen. If you don't see it there, you can open Launchpad and find it in there.
I didn't have the option to "forward message" in my message settings

It will start from the time you set up the syncing.

Not for regular phone calls, only FaceTime calls will come through to your Mac.
