    My husband and I were in a Latter Rain church in the 1970's. We came out of conservative churches. We have family that are missionaries that are latter rain in Hong Kong . We finally saw that their doctrine was not what the bible taught. Our family in Hong Kong is also close to Bethel Church in Redding, California. They also accept the NAR movement. Thank you so much for the amazing job and information you give us on all this history!!!!!

    You two have brought back so many memories from 50 years ago. My Dad's church rented a township hall for many years. It was the nicest building we had service in. Like the toilets always worked and there were plenty of tables for the potlucks. I also remember a man from India who stayed at our place and preached a couple times. He made a curry for us and gave my mother a beautiful crocheted tablecloth. I don't remember his name, though.

    Some people get so angry when they find out the truth about whoever it is that they like, such as TL Osborne or Gordon Lindsay, and others. Instead of wanting to know the truth, they get angry and say you both are lying. It reminds me of how message people react to the truth about WMB.

    So many people say WMB was scripturally sound but that his followers have twisted his teachings and that's where the evil in the message really comes from. No, it comes out of the mouth of WMB every time someone presses play.

Even though i never met him, his preaching tapes and one of the doctrines that he invented, i don't think he got it from WMB, had a very negative impact on my life.

    It's interesting hearing the connection with the UPC. My family used to be in a UPCI church in Central Australia back between 1978 and 1980-ish. I was only 8 or 9 at the time, so I don't remember much, though I still have the KJV, my first of many Bibles, that was gifted to me by a missionary to the local Aboriginals. We left them in 1980 because we found out the assistant pastor's family were going to a non-UPCI friend's place and watching TV while everyone else dutifully observed the no-TV rules. Mum didn't take to that very well, in 1978 she'd divorced my father who was turning into a violent drunk (nothing to do with the church, he was nominally Catholic) and we left because she hated that kind of hypocrisy and wasn't in the mood for bad behaviour. I only found out recently that they are Oneness, something I consider heretical, and I'm not convinced by Charismatic doctrine, so I guess I'll never go back to them. 🤷‍♀
    I'm not what you'd call a victim of them because of my youth and how little time we spent there, but it's interesting to hear about these connections - thanks for producing these videos.

    My family attended a church that started out in a old 1 room school house. Moved up to a old barn and then was held in houses. I didn't come from the other side. These people gave and gave and gave till they were poor. I find no humor in mocking them. I wish some of the people here making comments would have a little more compassion.

    • @lesliewells-ig5dl
      @lesliewells-ig5dl Місяць тому +5

      I'm sorry you feel like message people are being mocked. The compassion for them is why this whole thing exists. To help them know the truth about this cult. The people are sincere, good people, for the most part. Sometimes humor is used as a way to laugh at ourselves or deal with painful things. John, Charles, and many of the people leaving comments, including myself, were like the people you are describing ---we gave our whole lives to this evil thing. All of us that are in or used to be in this group were/are deceived and this channel exits to help people learn the truth and hopefully get out. It also exists to educate people about this group, including those of us who were in it. I've learned more about the message from this channel than I learned about it from the 28 years I was in it.

    Hi, greetings from New Zealand. Charles, you missed one that was in existence at the time of WMB's death - The Evangelistic Church of Christ in Christchurch, New Zealand (which had about 200 in regular attendance) was started in the late 1930's, and I have a tape from January 1965 somewhere here where one of the elders (Warwick French) in the church announces the death of "Our dear brother" WMB and observes that the church had benefitted from his ministry for many years. The church used to 'edit' the tapes to remove parts that appeared to be self-promotion or references to him being 'Elijah', and some aspects of doctrine were surgically removed from sermons.
    Printed sermons were available to people, which were transcripted by members of the church. Also, tapes were played to the entire congregation on occasion, in addition to the full-time ministry of the Pastor, W.E. Wilson, who had his roots in Smith Wigglesworth, and whose brothers (4 of them) started churches around NZ which were sympathetic to British Israelism. The church did not have its roots in any of the people who you name. It was unique.
    Pastor W.E. Wilson started up many churches around New Zealand, including one in Pukekohe and another in Dunedin. He was a remarkable man and his focus and emphasis was on preparing for the second coming of Jesus, and letting His perfect will be done in us. He wasn't strictly 'a message believer', but he did love it and felt that it added a lot of substance to his own teachings.
    There was also Camp David - a group in North Canterbury who adopted a communal lifestyle under the leadership of Bro. Doug Metcalf and subsequently under Bro. Daryl Williams and they too enjoyed WMB's ministry and I believe that this was also while he was alive or slightly after, as I know that they got the tapes from Bro. Reg Searle in Gisborne NZ who started the Gospel Tape Ministry.
    The Evangelistic Church of Christ went through a split in the early 1990's and one section of the church turned Pentecostal and became very modern charismatic but the other went deeper into the Message and to this day appreciates the message of William Branham. A few former members of both churches went to the more main-stream Message churches, such as Gospel Way Outreach, in Kaiapoi.

      Thanks for sharing the information, I am aware of the churches in New Zealand. I would have considered them to be Latter Rain Churches at the time of William Branham's death. Perry Green and Billy Paul began interaction with the churches in New Zealand starting in about 1968. And mission outreach started happening in that Time in New Zealand and Australia. All of the early mission work was done primarily among people who already respected Branham as a prophet. But it was generally only with the missionary outreach after he died that they began to accept the more unique beliefs of the message. We'll speak to that in some future episodes. Back then the tapes only had two sources, And The tapes In possession there would have had to have come from the central institutions of the message, which were in the churches we mentioned. The fact that they had tapes back then, is it pretty good indication that they were connected to the Central institutions of the message. If you can find out the approximate year that they accepted William Branham as Elijah, I would love to hear! I'm sure they had by 1968 or '69. Thanks so much for sharing!

    • @cpnurseries
      @cpnurseries Місяць тому +1

      @@Charles-Paisley As far as I know, it was only in the 1990's that they (those from the Evangelistic Church of Christ) accepted him as Elijah .... and in fact, those references were deliberately edited out of the tapes by certain elders in the church who didn't hold to that doctrine but were aware of it.
      I don't know where they got the tapes from, but I do know that Pastor Wilson enjoyed them right through the 1950's onwards. Others who got the tapes through Reg Searle believed the Elijah message from the times that you specify, 1969.
      When I came into the Message in the early 1990's, it was already fragmented, so that there were parousia churches and non-parousia, and in fact, when I attended one of the parousia churches, I was told that I should fall flat on my face and repent because I had failed to accept that the pastor of that church (Kase Van Klink) was THE Word to Christchurch (by the then leader of Lee Vayle's old church in Ohio.... so I remember this clearly. :-)
      Later, Parnell's influence reached NZ and the Thunders wreaked havoc. Then about that time, the 'third pull' started to divide people, until the man pushing that ended his marriage and eloped with another woman.... It seems that there was a 'fourth pull' in his case....
