Sorry chain with bear trap..... Hmmm. Yes, diminished chord. Satan loves his jazz. Now, b&w... shows a large frame Glock handgun, late 80's early 90's- not available in 7
I was scrolling to see if anybody else mentioned it, but no luck. Anybody else notice the small detail when they dig the pit and Nate asks Oralee if she crosses her heart and hope to die; that Ike isn't lying? Right after that, Nate touches the outline of a cross in the dirt. You can tell because the bottom end of the cross is longer than the top end. He puts his ear to the ground and mentions that they're in the first layer. Oralee replies with a "yeah? wow", as if to play along with the charade. He says he doesn't hear anything so she asks what they're supposed to hear. After he mentions the trumpets to Oralee, the cross can be seen inverted or upside down now. He mentions trumpets as if he knows what to listen for
I could tell from the first hidden frame that they represented Adam and Eve. They show up right after the location is described as the garden/forest where the devil is cast down to earth, which in the Christian tradition is Eden; and they are wearing fig leaves (or fig leaf type things) on only the sensitive parts of their bodies, also lining up with Christian teaching about those characters.
You missed the part where the kid and sister fell into the river after seeing those bodies, it could’ve been them really going past the point of no return and really entering into hell
in the river scene, you're forgetting about the fact that when nathan comes up from the water he says "i saw people in the water", but the audio is reversed
The video doesn’t pause, that’s actually just part of the movie. Look closer and the demon is subtly moving/changing faces. It’s creepy if you don’t find the concept of demons watching you through the television ridiculous
I don't see anyone talking about it anywhere but I thought that the mom put the dog down because it bit Nathan. And Nathan had been visited by the demon and marked him. So I'm thinking the dog sensed Nathan was evil or possessed and bit him and maybe this whole time Nathan wasn't trying to save his dog's soul but actually lure his sister through the levels of hell.
I'm assuming that the "The End" portion that comes way before the end of the movie is the end for Nathan. The last portjon of the movie is the end of the girl's story.
Uh, no. [Spoilers.] That was probably one of two alternative endings. It's certainly artsy/ironic, i.e. they were never involved in anything supernatural. The chains were just the husky dog dragging the trap, the psychos were just human psychos, etc. (But, what about the trumpets?) And, in the second ending, Oralee mistakenly shoots Nathan, thinking he was Cerberus. More uber-70s irony.
@@kell_checks_in they weren't just human psychos.Actually they were demons, the earlier part of the movie shows a demon coming out the dug out then changing the outfit. Also in the book, they showed this. And they were certainly involved supernaturally (Nathan) after Oralee said it was all a trick,Nathan insists he saw Ike and showed him that Oralee would trick him.Ike(Astratoth) touched Nathan in that scene, kinda makes me think Nathan was 'possessed' the whole storyline and in the end he ended up being a demon
I’m not sure if this has been said or even matters, but in Dante’s Inferno, right before the pit housing Lucifer, the Ninth Circle of Hell is dedicated to punishing people who have committed treachery. There’s an area in particular that houses those who committed treachery and/or deceit against loved ones. I believe that the two have been in Hell this whole time; according to Inferno, the Wrathful are punished amidst the River Styx, there is a forest filled with trees that are actually the souls of people who committed suicide and are punished by Harpies who break off branches causing them pain, and Cerberus guards over those being punished for gluttony. However, you could still say that the older Greek myth rings truer since Cerberus was originally said to have kept guard over any souls attempting to leave. Nathan could basically be trapping them in Hell on purpose. The pit they dig could unknowingly be them reaching down into the literal pit of Hell or “Antrum” where Lucifer lies in perpetual torment. Limbo is also technically a part of Hell even though no one is punished and does not appear to be a hellscape so they could have been dead this whole time and not have known it. When Nathan says “she” and it cuts to Oralee bleeding it could mean that he’s wondering if Oralee will go to Heaven and decides to attempt to save her and/or Maxine’s soul...although Nathan himself seems demonic too as his breath supposedly smells bad like Astaroth’s does lol. The fact that he has power over serpents could be the tie between what could be Adam and Eve being tortured as well. That’s all I got. I’m an English major and I had to do a very in depth look into Inferno so pardon all the references.
If not then, certainly later - I feel like either once they got on the Ferryman's boat (he must have been on a smoke break or something LOL) they were goners (or when Nathan disappeared from the boat) or when they were taken to the Antrum statue where Nathan was deposited inside to burn. I figured he did burn and the sister was killed, as the scene where they "escape" is pretty messed up and seemingly "dreamlike" in atmosphere. Was the punishment you speak of as a result of the sister lying about the book being from Ike? That she "tricked" Nathan with Maxine's collar? Some weird stuff. Lastly, those hunters - Human Echoes describes them as demons. I totally missed it. Thought they were just idiotic hillbillies that worshipped Asteroth or hell or whatever and were thinking they were doing the bidding. I didn't think they were actual demons. Wow!
I honestly thought the couple in the black and white sequence were a representation of Adam and Eve because of the apple at the end, but i'm not sure how that'd connect to the main film. Also! At the end where it's implied that she kills her brother because of how scared she is, that means the hole they were digging was his, which i found amazing
Both very astute observations. The original sin punishment in this would be much more brutal. I could see that about her taking him out. The hole is plenty deep enough. He doesn't seem entirely corrupted but she might see it that way.
the connection with Adam and Eve lies in the fact that we watched the film although we were warned not to, committing a sort of "original sin": it's no coincidence that the two victims had their eyes removed, because they saw
There's additional hidden message, albeit a pretty funny one, practically a hidden side-gag, in the movie's Cyrillic opening titles: some of the fake names for cast members involve CARRIE ТРУП (literally Carrie Corpse), ДЕЙВИД ПРОКЛЯТИЕ (David Curse), the executive producer is ПРОКЛЕТА АГНЕ ТЕЛБОД ПЛОДА (Cursed Lamb Body of the Fruit), the composer of the original score is АЛИСИЯ ПОДСЪЗНАНИЕ (Alicia Subconsciousness) and Director/Producer are МАЙКЪЛ БЕЗИМЕНЕН (Michael Nameless) and for some weird reason ДЕЙВИД АЙК (David Icke), an English conspiracy theorist, which cracked me up the most.
I was waiting for someone else who can read Cyrillic to finally notice that, I’ve never heard it brought up by any of videos I’ve watched about Antrum before
Personally, I believe when the boy releases the dog from the trap he’s gotten some clarity with mortality, he’s able to say his final good bye, Essentially being at peace with his dog’s death maybe?
It's also a reveal that they've not been dealing with anything supernatural -- everything's that's happened has just been mundane (if extreme) reality.
The couple in black and white had to represent Adam and Eve. You can see on the duct tape these leaves and vines and with the apple at the end. It must represent desire or Satans will, maybe even sin. I can’t quite figure it out
Hey, those mythological creatures, Cerberos and the Caronte, the man on the boat, they are very well represented in the poem of Dante, in Hell's verses. It kinda fits well the movie.
A couple of small things, which I found mildly unsettling: On the title screen near the date is some (I believe) Hungarian which translates to "Fear makes the Wolf great." The sign about suicide is a direct translation of a sign found in Aokigahara, Japan's "suicide forest". And finally, 170 in numerology is associated with both change and taking charge. 170 sightings of Astaroth's sigil can't be accidental.
This film is also implanted with binaural beats all throughout and rises with intensity. So if any viewers experience headache ,feelings of dread etc. It is because of the subliminal imagery, binaural beats, and the mockumentry intro setup to set the mood. Color out of space uses binaural sounds towards the climax of the final act
Hmm didn't know that That's stupid bc it drives humans away early when it could have stood on its script I stopped The Color out of Space early because it was annoying me (maybe the dread sound was part of it)
I wanted to point out another thingy. the very first scene where are the names of the people who made this movie - a lot of last names are translated as “cursed”, “demonic”, “enchanted” and stuff like this
That triangle at 1:25 is the alchemical symbol for fire, or exarp as they call it in Enochain. Normally its painted red on a green background so the colors vibrate. Reversed its water, with a line through it it's air.
That's the symbol of "The Fool" in Tarot, the card is numbered as zero and represents a continuing cycle , alpha/omega (eternity), spiritual development,... Edit: also the "delta" (upright triangle) symbol, that is the sign for the element of "fire".
The man they roasted in the metal goat devil barbecue device was the Asian guy that was going to kill himself. You saw the soft toy her took out his briefcase at the roasting site.
The "thing" where that asian guy burned was actually invented In the ancient Greece times. The copperbull. It was made for torture for those Who were that timed criminals.
As soon as I read your comment I was looking at the word "Nihil" wich made me think of Nihilism - it does fit for the movies they review. Be safe and Thank YOU for pointing it out.
LOVED that image of the boy standing on the rock looking down at the husky aka "Cerberus" (16:02 in your video) - his fur hood looks a whole lot like a pair of angel wings - maybe a callback to how the sister said this forest was where the devil landed when he was cast out from heaven?
When the demon face shows, I almost had to look away out of fear and respect, my god so creepy so good. Also, I believe alot of those runes were probably made up by a witch for the film, and you forgot to mention Astaroths sigil is not the same from the grimoire. It's like a mix of the pentagram, and hers just a little. Maybe they didn't want to piss off the real Astaroth! Ave! (Also the connection between the black and white Adam and Ave and them, is the downfall of the girl even leading her brother to such a place, to do such a disturbing task. At the end, my theory is she shoots her brother, then herself.. masking how Adam and Ave are slowing dying and being tortured as they are.)
When they find the Antrum the symbol that flashes over it looks a lot like an empty set symbol ø which denotes nothingness. Maybe foreshadowing that the story is a lie and there’s nothing really there.
Your channel should have more followers. Seriously. Remember watching this video and many before this, then watching it now again (briefly) it is still 6,300 subs. Something is not right. If they are very clearly displaying a triangle which usually means a trinity of sorts then since it’s so fitting, why wouldn’t they also include Beelzebub and Lucifer? Curious...?
Okay so there she is, in the tent holding the gun, and Nathan is approaching, dragging chains behind him. She's terrified, can't see anything outside of the tent, and hears that sound. So am I supposed to understand that she shot him?
The triangles represent different elements in the occult pentacle, pentacles tend to be used to draw divine energy down and pentagrams(upside down pentacle) are used to draw qliphothic energy up.
The couple in black and white are symbology for Adam and eve. The sigils aren't all demons, some are symbols used in rituals. To summon certain demons and invoke the presence of that which you're calling upon. Cerberus also comes in with disguise, as a pet, a domestic animal. To find answers to most of this movie, the golden dawn has a few rituals ands spells relating to this. Antrum is also known as a cavity, one within bone. The sigils can also supply answers as to certain demons personalities. This movie was pretty neat
Baphomet was popularized by anton levay, and Allister Crowley. Never once mentioned as an actual demon. Baphomet represents balance in alchemy. So you’re good fam.
@@Stabdaddy_ also. baphomet was just the name given to any "evil" deity represented through pagan/heathen traditions by the Catholics lol Anyhow. baphomet depiction is fairly new to the late 1800s and the renaissance of spiritualism (Ouija boards are also part of that BS of the late 1800s, and the name is a patented trademark which I find hilarious. Anytime u heard the name "Ouija" in a movie they had to pay royalties to the family lol)
The statue of a baphomet has his right thumb extended, which is the symbol for the “hand of god”, which is a very popular gesture in Serbia. In the subtitles it also states in that scene that the men are speaking an Eastern European language, which I’m assuming is Serbian. I’m not sure of the connection or what is being suggested, but I found it very interesting.
Great breakdown of the symbolism! Just saw the film; good stuff. Witch and occult author here :) - In addition to the elemental (western alchemical) symbol for Fire, the triangle represents the Triangle of Evocation found in Goetic magick: it is used for evoking (calling into form) various spirits, such as the 'demons' in the Lesser Key of Solomon, including Astaroth. - The circle with a slash thru it is an old witchcraft symbol for "a ritual." - The sigil/symbol with two crosses likely represents the two protagonists' shovels, or their graves (marked with a cross), made for the film, just like with the one in the sky atop the storm cloud, which also seems to have been made for the film. Rock on!! Thanks again!
Saw the film last night, it was actually was really interesting of the different layers of the underworld. It was a creepy film not going to lie and other than that it was really good.
I was hoping for a slow creep fest and definitely got it. I wouldn't have gone so deep if they hadn't made something so oddly compelling. Thanks for the comment!
I just watched this movie and holy shit! I had to look for a video that slowed down the footage right away. Thank you. This is such a good movie, I'm disappointed that it has such low reviews on imdb.
Great job finding so much of the hidden stuff! I’m hoping to watch it soon with a friend who speaks Japanese so possibly stay tuned for a translation of the guy’s dialogue there? Also, you may enjoy a movie called Mortal Remains, which has similar hidden weirdness and lore and definitely deserves to be seen more. Again, great video!
Thank you very much for the rec! I'll look at it. I'd love to know the translation. I found out after this video that the Russian credits at the beginning have hidden messages too. I need so much translation
Actually the Japanese guy didn't say anything interesting. He was constantly telling them to go away, to.leave him alone, that they are bastards for not leaving, shooting them away, and at the end he gives up and accepts that they're not leaving and he apologises and leaves. Nothing deep in his speech.
the word demonium, meaning abode of demons or hell, did exist in classical Latin. Within a century or so, the word was being used in extended senses, referring to things akin to a real hell and eventually to the modern meaning of confusion, tumult, or uproar
I’m not sure what to make of it but I was very interested that the sister ends the movie looking very much as she did at the beginning but in a state of panic while the brother looks like a forest demon but is very calm, like he belongs there while the sister does not.
Many people have said they think this is why the movie had a the end point here. That he was taken and she wasn't. You definitely have a good point here.
That would look badass! On a side note, the other shot of the demon pointing at the audience immediately made me think of the cover of Mercyful Fate’s Don’t Break The Oath.
Hey buddy not sure if you know about this but some of those symbols are used in alchemy. The spiritual side of alchemy is quite similar to the principles of satanism so the symbolism is sometimes adapted into the mix
My friend is making an album and each music video tells a cohesive story. From the little I've seen, it's full of subliminal messaging. We both just watched Antrum for the first time the other day, and he said "people are gonna think I ripped this off". I'll repost or edit when it comes out.
The phrase "Cave Ab Homine Unius Libri" (Beware the man of one book) is a warning about the hubris of man and to be wary of people who only consider one perspective. It's not about specializing in a skill to become superior to others.
Not sure if they meant anything like this with the triangle, but I remember hearing that using a triangle instead of a circle for a ritual area has something to do with the nature of the intent of the ritual. For example a circle will be drawn in ritual for a protective spell, and a triangle for an offensive spell. Something like that I thinj
15:50 you see an eye in the woods. Shortly after Cerberus part is very similar to Fenrir the great wolf who is chained and bound by norse God tyr. Greek mythology its Hercules.
@HumanEchoes I just watched this movie 3 nights ago and then went down the rabbit hole lol. This movie has a great deal and mixture of various cultures and occult teachings that were taken from the Ars Goetia. In fact, most, if not all the symbols and incantations used during the film were sourced from the lesser key of Solomon. This is a surprisingly intelligent and informative horror movie.
Totally agree. There's a reason why it's resonating so well now that it hit Prime. People like a movie that can outperform its budget with craftiness and originality.
Human Echoes opened minded people appreciate those type of films, they are gems! Lol Just out of curiosity though - where does your knowledge in all of this come from? In your video, you clearly have a pretty comprehensive understanding of the occult world.
Mostly from a lot of random books, podcasts, and searches as I did the video. I did the audio in 10ish second chunks and did research anytime something was not quite there.
i think that the 2 people in the boat (at 7:21 in this video) are another homage to Greek mythology like Cerberus, the ferryman Charon who brings the souls of the newly deceased across the rivers Styx and Acheron that divided the world of the living from the world of the dead
Hey after watching the movie a fourth time I noticed something lol. Close to the end after the car crashes you can plainly see blood coming out of bullet hole in their head. She shot them in their torsos. It's almost like we are missing something and her quick decline into a mental breakdown (keep in mind that tranquilizers can really mess you up) caused her to block something out or something. Also does anyone know when the kid talks backwards on the boat what he says?
Hey so I know this is an old video but I just watched this film and noticed something rather peculiar. When the little boy “meets Ike” behind the trash can he has these dreadlocks. At the end of the movie during the final documentary scene someone mentions a figure that could gain influence over people and make them die a day later with as little as pointing a bone at them. The movie then cuts to showing the demon extend his finger to us the audience, but the thing that I question is the little boy was clearly marked or touched by this figure, because when he points the stick at the “hunters” it’s assumed they awake the next day in their camp and supposedly both hunters upon being shot and driving away mysteriously die while screaming can be heard in the background audio. Is this demonic figure protecting the child? Surely he should’ve been injured by not only getting shot but also by being stuffed into the torture device. Yet he appears fine and just covered in soot. The mysterious death of the hunters is what catches me off guard the most because it doesn’t make any logical sense
I watched this movie last sunday and I really liked it! I like movies that are somewhat demonic. I like the kind of style that this movie shows. Do you happen to know any other movies that are kind of similar?
I've actually been trying to find more like it. There are plenty of movies with demons but none quite like this that I have found. Gonna call up a few people and ask today
The premise of a boy going to hell to save his dogs soul is rather amazing. I think a full fleshed story needs to be made. Not a Diseny type movie. But a psychological horror with hope in the bond between the boy and his dog.
You forgot the demon thats just standing there on the bottom right of the title antrum he even moves to position himself. 3 seconds before that a face dims moving to the right through the screen on the same area which Is the same demon face it's very dim you can't see the horns just pale face structure. It kinda looks like it not sure
Thank you I found this really interesting. I will be discussing Antrum on my podcast for Halloween and will leave links to this video and your review of the film in my description, as it is probably the best I have seen thank you.
The triangle with the line inside of it is the Alchemical sign for air, and the circle with the line through it is also alchemical, and it represents salt.
Air represents a lot of things but the most relevant is probably mind, wisdom, higher thinking. Salt is one of the prima materia needed to form the philosopher's stone, that has a lot of implications, but it usually represents the body, more specifically, flesh and blood. Makes sense why it would appear at the place where Satan fell. Also, alchemy itself has some Satanic underpinnings. It was said to be God's magic stolen by Satan and brought to earth.
The upright triangle is the symbol for the element of fire. The demon associated with the element of fire is Satan. A upright triangle with a slash in the top part is representative of the element of Air. Demon for Air is Lucifer.. Later in the film.. The fungus around the hole could be mushrooms. Earlier in the film, from the book, there was a drawing of the entrance of the Hell being marked by the presents of mushrooms. The black and white parts of the film, featuring the couple, are somewhat similar the Rider-Waite Tarot card of the Devil.. I get the feeling the person that made this film was a Christian with a little bit of occult knowledge. The entire film is typical of the type things that would scare the Hell out of Christians living in the 1970s. All that said.. I love this movie.
If only people had seen it in the era of the Exorcist. They would have lost their minds. It doesn't hit as hard with a less superstitious or secular culture.
The first time I watched the movie after I saw the guy doin the deer, once they tranked them I got a HORRIBLE sinking feeling then the guy took off her jacket and I paused and ligitamately didn't want to watch it I felt incredibly sick. I didn't know if the movie would go so far im really really glad it didn't...
here's just a tiny thing, but it's good to clarify. A pentagram inside a circle is actually called a pentacle, and is not normally apart of satanic practices. satanists tend to use the inverted pentagram most often from what I can gather instead of just your average pentacle
It's really hard to find. Usually takes the right atmosphere. Get a little inebriated and watch The Inkeepers in the dark. One of the last ones to give me any real creep.
does the tuning fork that the tight whitey demon used, and/or the half diminished music symbol, have something in common I wonder? Tuning forks can be used to establish a "resonant frequency of the objects needing to be manipulated, and in this case, was it used to resonant the frequency of the devil, or evil.
I love this idea. It's like to be under the influence of this particular evil you have to seek it out. To tune into it. Some say that is like psychedelic drugs tuning your perception into something different. Love the observation.
Thank you for pointing out Baphomet's actual symbolism since it often bugs me people misuse them. As for symbols you said you had trouble finding out, I swear I've seen all of them but only figured out two. The triangle is mentioned to have different meanings at the end of the film, it's also an alchemy symbol for fire. The circle with the line might be "null" or even just "no". As if it's saying "dont dog here". Maybe it's also just seeing things, but i also noticed the moon used in astaroth's scene with his face also might be in regards to how silver and the moon are used often with spiritual stuff. Also sorry for commenting on a 4 year old video. I just got into this movie super recently and loved it so much but also wanted to see those lil quick frames lol
5:30 The squirrel puppet is sooooo 70s. I also took it as a shout out to the robin at the end of Blue Velvet (ua-cam.com/video/nbnhQvaAu_I/v-deo.html). (There are other homages to Blair Witch (of course), Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the opening score echoes Rosemary's Baby, etc. The legal disclaimer echoes the warnings before the electrified seats stunt for The Tingler. ua-cam.com/video/2MZBn4wsLPQ/v-deo.html) If you're familiar with older movies, there's a lot in this one that's flipping hilarious (and not just the LSD in the movie popcorn.) And, they totally nailed the 70s style in both look and plot.
The scene of the woman holding the gun to the mans head is symbolic of eve making adam eat the forbidden fruit. The gaffa tape is symbolic of God clothing them after they take knowledge of good and evil. The use of them is symbolic of the fall of man, that humanity gods creation is flawed.
When the couple that is being tortured is finally dead, the thing in the hand of the guy is a bitten apple; this is an analogy to Adan and Eve story; devil tempts them and they both fall into the tramp. Great movie.

i was thinking the same thing
when they show the demon climbing out the pit and puts on human skin, it’s the same skin (outfit) as the guys that burnt the man alive.

In the last scene of the couple, it's an apple in his hand. Most likely representing Adam and Eve.
I must have been too tired to notice that. Good eye. Thanks for the insight!

Definitely. Some people have thought it was when they actually died. If they did anyway.
Styx the river of hell the underworld, oh and you said it haha
This movie NAILED the late 70's so well. The music, the creature design, dodgy dubbing it's beautiful

Nathan was marked AFTER the dog died tho
The movie is about shared delusion or mass hysteria. Hence the mass hysteria that supposedly surrounds the history of the movie.
I'm assuming that the "The End" portion that comes way before the end of the movie is the end for Nathan. The last portjon of the movie is the end of the girl's story.
That makes sense. Especially since many think he was taken or dead at that point.

I’m not seeing how you came to that but very interesting
the connection with Adam and Eve lies in the fact that we watched the film although we were warned not to, committing a sort of "original sin": it's no coincidence that the two victims had their eyes removed, because they saw

Yeah he talked about that
I just found out that this wasn’t made in the 1970s and all that stuff abt people dying never happened
Yup. It's a gimmick. But it's fun.
Animavesta wait really
Animavesta when was it made
emma merchant like 2019
Dude it’s meant to be a remake of the 1979 version, apparently the first version got mostly destroyed and the producers saw it and recreated it
There's additional hidden message, albeit a pretty funny one, practically a hidden side-gag, in the movie's Cyrillic opening titles: some of the fake names for cast members involve CARRIE ТРУП (literally Carrie Corpse), ДЕЙВИД ПРОКЛЯТИЕ (David Curse), the executive producer is ПРОКЛЕТА АГНЕ ТЕЛБОД ПЛОДА (Cursed Lamb Body of the Fruit), the composer of the original score is АЛИСИЯ ПОДСЪЗНАНИЕ (Alicia Subconsciousness) and Director/Producer are МАЙКЪЛ БЕЗИМЕНЕН (Michael Nameless) and for some weird reason ДЕЙВИД АЙК (David Icke), an English conspiracy theorist, which cracked me up the most.
I refuse to accept the David Icke one
I flipped out with Icke
I was waiting for someone else who can read Cyrillic to finally notice that, I’ve never heard it brought up by any of videos I’ve watched about Antrum before
The scene towards the end where the boy frees the dog. The scene represents him freeing the dogs soul from hell.
My doorbell went off on the dark screen with the horn dude and I bloody screamed so loud
Perfect. My plan worked!
Personally, I believe when the boy releases the dog from the trap he’s gotten some clarity with mortality, he’s able to say his final good bye, Essentially being at peace with his dog’s death maybe?
That could very well be it. I like this interpretation. Thanks!
It's also a reveal that they've not been dealing with anything supernatural -- everything's that's happened has just been mundane (if extreme) reality.
I was thinking he finally realizes that it was all in his head
If it’s all in his head how did he and his sister get up and go about their business after being shot and killed?
The couple in black and white had to represent Adam and Eve. You can see on the duct tape these leaves and vines and with the apple at the end. It must represent desire or Satans will, maybe even sin. I can’t quite figure it out
I believe you are right here.
Hey, those mythological creatures, Cerberos and the Caronte, the man on the boat, they are very well represented in the poem of Dante, in Hell's verses. It kinda fits well the movie.
Dante's work is a huge part of this. Even the concept of layered hell. I know its a cheap film but I love how they expressed it.
That makes two of us XD
Kerberos is a form of authentication
And, they all go back to St. Thomas Aquinas.
A couple of small things, which I found mildly unsettling:
On the title screen near the date is some (I believe) Hungarian which translates to "Fear makes the Wolf great."
The sign about suicide is a direct translation of a sign found in Aokigahara, Japan's "suicide forest".
And finally, 170 in numerology is associated with both change and taking charge. 170 sightings of Astaroth's sigil can't be accidental.
Awesome insight! I really need to find a translator for the entire beginning.
Human Echoes also what does Nathan say when he’s talking backwards and what are the whispers saying when she’s cleaning his scratches?
@@Humanechoes the surnames if the crew in the opening credits are really cheesy, for instance 'subconsious' 'dead body' and etc
That’s why I came to the comment section I knew that sign was real
This film is also implanted with binaural beats all throughout and rises with intensity. So if any viewers experience headache ,feelings of dread etc. It is because of the subliminal imagery, binaural beats, and the mockumentry intro setup to set the mood.
Color out of space uses binaural sounds towards the climax of the final act
Hmm didn't know that
That's stupid bc it drives humans away early when it could have stood on its script
I stopped The Color out of Space early because it was annoying me (maybe the dread sound was part of it)
The nods to dante's inferno are cool. The boy being dante his sister being virgil. Pretty neat.
Circle with a line through it just means zero, ground zero.
Thanks! I was expecting it to be something more.
or saturn
That's the symbol of "The Fool" in Tarot, the card is numbered as zero and represents a continuing cycle , alpha/omega (eternity), spiritual development,... Edit: also the "delta" (upright triangle) symbol, that is the sign for the element of "fire".
That squirrel was hilarious 😂
There were a total of 170 sigils . Sigils are like symbols based on some kind of magic
So many snuck in. I wish there had been a little more variety though but it makes sense.
The man they roasted in the metal goat devil barbecue device was the Asian guy that was going to kill himself. You saw the soft toy her took out his briefcase at the roasting site.
THE “METAL GOAT DEVIL BARBECUE DEVICE” LMAOOOO I want that in my house
Me too!
Yup. Poor guy.
The "thing" where that asian guy burned was actually invented In the ancient Greece times. The copperbull. It was made for torture for those Who were that timed criminals.
Always heard it was the brazen bull. And the man who made it wad killed inside it.
Also echoes of The Wicker Man.
Great video, I think the terminology in this movie gives me an As Above, So Below vibe.
I could see that. I know As Above so Below gets some hate but I was into it.
@@Humanechoes definitely a movie you have to give a second watch and maybe watch some UA-cam explanations on.
Also, "Nihil pretiosius veritate" means "nothing is more precious than truth". This movie has a pretty solid latin!!
Yes that’s the only scary party when he’s pointing had to stop gotta rewatch that part during daytime 😂😂🤷🏽♂️
Nice! This is a very underrated movie
It really is. I'm hoping it finds cult status.

When they find the Antrum the symbol that flashes over it looks a lot like an empty set symbol ø which denotes nothingness. Maybe foreshadowing that the story is a lie and there’s nothing really there.
That could be. Other people have said the same about the symbol but not made that implication.
5:28 psycho squirrel. Take a shot every time he says “Asteroth”

If they are very clearly displaying a triangle which usually means a trinity of sorts then since it’s so fitting, why wouldn’t they also include Beelzebub and Lucifer? Curious...?
My bet is budget issues. Maybe they also had bigger fish to fry. I imagine if lucifer is real it's hard to draw his attention.
It is also the alchemy symbol for the element of fire.
I feel like the mushrooms on the demons in the book and the mushrooms in the hole in the end have a connection.
Everything is so deliberate here so I believe you are right.
Mushrooms tend to appear in places of rot or decay. So interesting thing there.
okay. i just watched the 2019 version a few days ago. as soon as i got up i fell over nothing like twice lol. thats it.
If that's all the bad juju you get that's not so bad.
Okay so there she is, in the tent holding the gun, and Nathan is approaching, dragging chains behind him. She's terrified, can't see anything outside of the tent, and hears that sound. So am I supposed to understand that she shot him?
I figured that the bright light that cuts from the barrel of the pistol symbolizes that she shot but idk
The triangles represent different elements in the occult pentacle, pentacles tend to be used to draw divine energy down and pentagrams(upside down pentacle) are used to draw qliphothic energy up.
Is funny how you say "Astra" it crackers me up every time!😅
Glad I could make you smile!
The whole movie is based off freeing Fenrir to invoke the apocalypse. Also explains "the end" scene.
When the devil thing was staring at me it looked like he wanted the smoke man 😤
The couple in black and white are symbology for Adam and eve. This movie was pretty neat
i finished the movie last night and i had sleep paralysis for the first time. i saw something that looked like baphomet coming towards me
That sucks! Sounds like it dug in deep.
you bullshitting?
Nice
The statue of a baphomet has his right thumb extended, which is the symbol for the “hand of god”, which is a very popular gesture in Serbia. In the subtitles it also states in that scene that the men are speaking an Eastern European language, which I’m assuming is Serbian. I’m not sure of the connection or what is being suggested, but I found it very interesting.
19:39 one of the frames says I LOVE LUCY
i wonder what that means!!!!!!
Truly a mystery
Maybe a contemporary play on words for I love Lucifer? also the show I Love Lucy had 6 seasons
Great breakdown of the symbolism! Just saw the film; good stuff.
Witch and occult author here :)
- In addition to the elemental (western alchemical) symbol for Fire, the triangle represents the Triangle of Evocation found in Goetic magick: it is used for evoking (calling into form) various spirits, such as the 'demons' in the Lesser Key of Solomon, including Astaroth.
- The circle with a slash thru it is an old witchcraft symbol for "a ritual."
- The sigil/symbol with two crosses likely represents the two protagonists' shovels, or their graves (marked with a cross), made for the film, just like with the one in the sky atop the storm cloud, which also seems to have been made for the film.
Rock on!! Thanks again!
Me too. I really thought it was evil. Try "The Devils Candy". You will love that.

Glad I helped you find what you needed. And I loved it too. It's a bit slow for some people I guess? Or the gimmick made them mad?
Great job finding so much of the hidden stuff! I’m hoping to watch it soon with a friend who speaks Japanese so possibly stay tuned for a translation of the guy’s dialogue there? Also, you may enjoy a movie called Mortal Remains, which has similar hidden weirdness and lore and definitely deserves to be seen more. Again, great video!
Thank you very much for the rec! I'll look at it.
I'd love to know the translation. I found out after this video that the Russian credits at the beginning have hidden messages too. I need so much translation
Thanks for the recommendation
Actually the Japanese guy didn't say anything interesting. He was constantly telling them to go away, to.leave him alone, that they are bastards for not leaving, shooting them away, and at the end he gives up and accepts that they're not leaving and he apologises and leaves. Nothing deep in his speech.
I think the demon creatures are meant to look like the demons from Häxan. They use footage from that movie in the documentary portion
the word demonium, meaning abode of demons or hell, did exist in classical Latin. Within a century or so, the word was being used in extended senses, referring to things akin to a real hell and eventually to the modern meaning of confusion, tumult, or uproar
This is so insightful and awesome. Thanks for the comment!
@@Humanechoes your welcome
Actually "Cave hominem unius libri" means to be wary of fanatics (metaphorically, men who have read only one book).
In Wicca the triangle you refer to as Delta is the symbol for the element of Fire. I took it as the representation of the "fires" of Hell.
In the flashback picnic scene you can see a shadow going across Maxine's face. I believe that was Asteroth making her bite Nathan.
This makes a lot of sense. Especially when it's revealed he had seen astaroth before in the back alley.
12:16 it shows when the demon marked him just by touching him
8:10 this image is badass. Im thinking about putting this on the back of a denim vest. 13:14 is a shot of the Teletubbies baby in the sun cult lol.
That would look badass! On a side note, the other shot of the demon pointing at the audience immediately made me think of the cover of Mercyful Fate’s Don’t Break The Oath.
@@Acheron93 👍
It's not about specializing in a skill to become superior to others.
i freaked the Frick out right here 8:20

The Arch of Baäl appears when they first enter the forest!😫
Good catch. I didn't quite know that one.
Lol
Just out of curiosity though - where does your knowledge in all of this come from? In your video, you clearly have a pretty comprehensive understanding of the occult world.
Mostly from a lot of random books, podcasts, and searches as I did the video. I did the audio in 10ish second chunks and did research anytime something was not quite there.
Human Echoes oh ok. Makes sense. Same way I do my research lol. Wasn’t sure if you were into all that stuff, practiced it, or what not.
i think that the 2 people in the boat (at 7:21 in this video) are another homage to Greek mythology like Cerberus, the ferryman Charon who brings the souls of the newly deceased across the rivers Styx and Acheron that divided the world of the living from the world of the dead
I agree! Thanks for the insight.
You put a lot of effort into this great video, thanks!
Thank you! Glad you liked it. 😀
Also does anyone know when the kid talks backwards on the boat what he says?
u decide to watch this 4 times???
Nathan was shot with a tranq dart, not a bullet.

Dude same here! I had to pause for a smoke break just in case. I can't handle too much r*pe shit. So glad it didn't happen!
here's just a tiny thing, but it's good to clarify. A pentagram inside a circle is actually called a pentacle, and is not normally apart of satanic practices. satanists tend to use the inverted pentagram most often from what I can gather instead of just your average pentacle
Good eye. A friend of mine texted me about it after the video. I wish I could do live edits! Thanks for the insight.
LOOK INTO ALCHEMY ALOT OF THOSE SYMBOLS SEEM SIMILAR.
You are definitely right. I looked a fair bit but need an alchemy expert.
In the first seen when we see there’s a guy in the brazen thing, I thought it might have been the Japanese guy they saw earlier in the forest
You are definitely right.
Yet to find a movie that scares me, this was definitely a fun watch though
It's really hard to find. Usually takes the right atmosphere. Get a little inebriated and watch The Inkeepers in the dark. One of the last ones to give me any real creep.
Wow, you really spend alot of time doing this video .
It took some time for sure. Took a lot of coffee.
I just watched the movie and I’m very intrigued with this and I saw stuff abt this movie and the triangle means to summon but I’m not sure
You might be right. Some have said it means fire. Others that it's a portal. So much speculation.
8:41 use the environment to fill in lines where there exists very few
does the tuning fork that the tight whitey demon used, and/or the half diminished music symbol, have something in common I wonder?
Love how the depict “asteroth” as a melanated locced hair entity 🖤
Damn...I see that now lmao
Sounds like a very good answer to me. Thanks for the insight!
Very well documented thank you 🙌😈
