  • Today, May 27th, 2022 is opening day at Sunrise Park Resort in Northern Arizona. This White Mountain Apache owned bike park is Arizona's only lift-serviced mountain biking. They had Chris Boice and I out last week to check out the trails and we were highly impressed. Technical and raw, this definitely surprised and impressed us. If you are wondering what to do on this long holiday weekend, I highly recommend checking out Sunrise. Huge thanks to Brian Zongker, bike park manager, for inviting us to ride and for the shuttles. Big cheers to loc-dog, Jeffrey Reagan for showing us the tracks. DH is alive and well in AZ!
In addition to having trails for all abilities, this place is as raw and natural as I have ever seen a bike park. We truly enjoyed our time at Sunrise and will definitely put this place squarely on the radar when we are hanging in Sedona or Phoenix and need a change of pace.

With Nate’s following, this might be a turning point for Sunrise. Was there years ago. Raw was describing it nicely. Back then it was unkept and poorly managed. Looks much better now. It has TONS of potential!! Let’s hope this video brings help to the cause. Thanks Nate for posting.

@@natehills9388 100%. I only ride hiking trails anymore. The mtb trails are crowded, which is good overall, but not much of an escape from society.
I am all for the growth of the sport ultimately. The trail access we have now compared to 30 years ago was once unimaginable in many parts of the country...it is worth getting annoyed by crowds. I will always have my "secret" trails too.

Looks like some nice trails. I went to their website to look around. For only fifteen trails, $159 for the season isn't terrible but not great. $35/night for DRY RV camping is nuts; for that I would at the very least expect access to fresh water and a dump station. The location isn't bad... about 3.5 hours from the Phoenix area. I'm generally not a fan of Indian-owned businesses, because they usually funnel that money into anti-American activist causes like shutting down our public lands, but some Googling suggests these aren't doing that (yet).
