Clapton is such a class act, his respect for fellow muscians is over the top. He never tries to take over, or grand stand. I have seen him 2xs, many years ago. I'm 65 year old girl, & still playing air guitar ,dancing & singing. Thank you to the Music Giod's for all the amazing music I grew up on & fed off.
He doesn't solo because he has way to much respect for Mark, leaving him to solo whenever he wants. They are very close friends, it's just natural that he seems comfortable with Mark. They're both guitar gods! :)
@@NoOne-kr4jc Have you seen how often Clapton backs knofler and vice versa, if you do your research then you will find that they play together OFTEN, but you obv haven't done any homework on the both of them as friends as well as partners on stage..
@@russelljohncochrane1533 Well no need to be like that but there's a difference between perhaps music business friends and close friends. Some ppl are complete loners when the media is off of them. Its like another face.

It's so cool to see two guitar legends together. EC and MK have played so much for each other as lead and rhythm guitars, so we can consider them as guitar duo. Greetings from Armenia.
I've just watched four or five videos of Clapton/Knopfler, and I'm struck by two things: Clapton never seems to solo when Knopfler's onstage, and Clapton has never, ever seemed more comfortable in the company of another musician than he is when he's with Knopfler.
I saw the 1988 tour when they played Nassau Colisseum in New York. It was AWESOME and this video really captures it. I was in college and didn't know my ass from my elbow back then -- at least I was smart enough to know that I was seeing two music legends. Great video!
when I was very young, my dad was turning on this song, and we were dancing to it :) this is the song of my early childhood, maybe that's why i'm 16 now and prefer to listen to Eric Clapton, Dire Straits and other good artists, than simple comercial music ;)
when i first heard this song when i was young i thought strait off it was Dire Straits because if the song style was similiar to the very early DS stuff. but dam it was eric. im sooooo sooooo happy to find this vid with MK (the legend that is) and eric. thank you very much for posting MK rules
Eric Clapton (guitar/vocals), Nathan East (bass), Mark Knopfler (guitar), Alan Clark (keyboards), Steve Ferrone (drums), Tessa Niles (vocals), and Katie Kissoon (vocals). Elton John joined the band for several dates, including this one.
What can one say about the best there is!!! I could watch this 10 times and not be bored - Marc was in Montreal just recently and sold out completely - my loss this time!
Love how they utilize the chords from "Rainy Day Women" (by Bob Dylan) to get locked in sync with one another. A total of 5 times before stepping to the mics.
I woke up today with this song stuck in my head and here I am looking for it on UA-cam. These guys rock. EC could be mistaken as a brother with a voice like that.
@Stratocasterhead51 You're right. My son, born in 1990, grew up listening my time music (I'm born in 1960): Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, Canned Heat, Clapton, Hendrix, Santana .... He learned what good musis is. Now he's teaching me there's yet some good music.
2 des meilleurs guitaristes au monde . . . vivants encore.! (avec Santana , Roger Waters et d'autres que j'oublie ). J'espère pouvoir les voir encore sur scène. Longue vie à eux et à moi aussi 🤔 À vous aussi qui me lisez 😉🤣
Very pleased to hear how well Knopfler goes along with "the older guys"...( the late but forever) Chet Atkins and here with EC. In E.C.'s recent concert the influence on E.C. was reMARKable... Bernard
Like how you can 'let it ring,' is so sweet on the guitar, as I have heard this on yur album; Eric. Close 2 bein my fave, but then I would have t think of Stevie, whom my tears are being shed for. I recently learned about his great success and then tradgedy. I am so sad. I am so sorry and so very sad, Eric, and for your agent and for your son. I love mark's pikin in this
Mark is a genius guitar player and songwriter. Just listen to Mark, Chet Atkins with the Everly Brothers and Micheal McDonald doing Why Worry which Mark wrote for the Everlys. A beautiful song.
@johnrakemusic it's because he doesn't do festivals, when he played at norwegian wood in oslo 2010 there was just one other act that day, he just doesn't play festivals. which is a pity, cause seeing him and eric playing together again would be so freaking tremendously awesome :)
I agree this isn't much faster if any than the original. Look at these two pros grinnin and havin a great time playing their asses off! It's contagious.
It's the best... I love how he doesn't take over, so subtle and light... the thing Knopfler always does is tries to enhance the song with a solo... not take over it and show off. Two great musicians, could sit and watch them all day.

Three. Nathan East.

Mark looks like that Freshman who forgot to wear a tie to the prom...
so young!

The best version and combination of talent ever of 'Lay Down Sally' One of the greatest to dance to, too!
Eric and Mark, the two sweet guitar tone legends!
From what I've heard, Mark Knopfler is one of the nicest guys in the music industry.
I met him and he was a bit of a twat. Others have said that too.
I could listen to each version all day...Mr Clapton has nothing to prove...his excellence shows by his letting Mark take lead...awesome musicians !!!!

I am in heaven listening to to this , Knopfler gives it an extra edge although it was already amazing. Two Gods working together
Two great stars perfoming a great numer. Great one by Clapton
Quentin Fernandez

Cuz Mark Knopfler is the greatest of all-time.
Cuz Clapton only feels threatened by other blues guitarists
Maybe Clapton never wanted to be the leader, so he's happy to give the spotlight to Knopfler, who loves his solos

Mark and Eric....Legends in their own time !!
Genius is not good enough to describe Mark's talent and ability! Another word need inventing just for musical geniuses like him.
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND RIGHTLY SAID. 🔝
Mark is to guitarists what Einstein is to physicists...
the voice of Eric is brilliant, the solo of MK is fantastic!
Eric Clapton (guitar/vocals), Nathan East (bass), Mark Knopfler (guitar), Alan Clark (keyboards), Steve Ferrone (drums), Tessa Niles (vocals), and Katie Kissoon (vocals). Elton John joined the band for several dates, including this one.
Two of the very best!!

Two of the best, and a classic song

Those three guys are really having a good time.
Knopfler y Clapton juntos sobre un escenario no hay palabras para poder describir esto…….
probably one of the best version....mark is so so beautiful on that guitar....
Love how they utilize the chords from "Rainy Day Women" (by Bob Dylan) to get locked in sync with one another. A total of 5 times before stepping to the mics.
Absolutely sick...highlight of this show for me..i love how clapton is in awe of knopfler..gotta give credit when credit is due..great players..
that was incredible, knopfler is blessed what a live performance!!
Does anybody else think of Chet Atkins smiling when Mark plays his solo?

A great version by two masters.
I love Clapton; love Mark Knopfler; and love this song!
GOD I JUST LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You just KNOW that Knopfler had never played that solo before. Pure inspiration and brilliance produced that!

TOP DUAS GUITARRAS BRINCANDO!!!SEM PALAVRAS!!!!
With respect to the previous comment, it doesn’t get better than this, period. What could possibly make this performance better? Nothing.
What an intro. Swanky. 👍
Ah, Mark Knopfler. One of the rare awesome guitarists that played with his fingers.
it is tough to play with your elbows
Clapton + Knopfler + Sally = the holy trinity. i am saved.
Great musicians!!
this is an amazing song
Great music!!!!
I love how Clapton is vibing in the beginning
Very good that Eric song lead by mark guitar solo.
Tokyo, I think. Two great rock guitarists.
MK is king of solos ......
Watching him play, answers a big question for me. I never could even get started on guitar. Look at Mark's thumbs ! His are twice as long as mine are.
@johnrakemusic it's because he doesn't do festivals, when he played at norwegian wood in oslo 2010 there was just one other act that day, he just doesn't play festivals. which is a pity, cause seeing him and eric playing together again would be so freaking tremendously awesome :)

Fabulous musos!

Wow ! This is great ! Thank you !
