Eric Clapton, one of the world’s pre-eminent blues/rock guitarists, once again summoned an all-star team of six-string heroes for his fifth Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2019. Held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, the two-day concert event raised funds for the Crossroads Centre in Antigua, the chemical dependency treatment and education facility that Clapton founded in 1998.

How can you not enjoy one of Eric's classics played by arguably some of the worlds best guitar players.
No way! Highly overrated, actually
exactly!@@robyn8842
Willie❤
Hard to believe that stage had the strength to hold up all that talent without collapsing in on itself! This is a kick-ass version for sure!!
I love it when he says Sheryl Crow yall
Me too !
Extraordinary musicians gathered on the stage, and along with the guitarists, we should definitely mention the excellent keyboard player, John Hobbs. Respect!
I think the best part of these Crossroads Concerts is seeing all the respect they have for each other and how much fun they have doing each others songs. You can truly tell they are having a ton of fun.

I love drummers who know their business - like this one. No overplaying. Just delivering whats necessary to present everything professionally. Great sound. Love this.
That's Billy Thomas on drums!
@@wolfgangmarkusgstrein8522 Thanks so much Wolfgang. I'll remember Billy Thomas. No doubt a master studio guy.
@@wolfgangmarkusgstrein8522
Like Ringo Starr
Good drummers know when to stay right in the pocket.
Is it just me or is this one of the best versions of this song? I have been coming back to this video for years.
Same here
I agree 100%!!
🙂
I like Eric Clapton’s original recorded version. It’s flat out sensual.
I absolutely love it...more than the original! I love how he changed the tempo and rhythm. The guitar solos are terrific and Cheryl's vocals are superb!
I have never realized how good Vince Gill is....thank you for this!
Vince Gill knows what he is doing
James Burton!!! A master of the Telecaster!!!
Keb Mo is quietly doing his own amazing thing!
Those of you who are whining about them messing up this song, remember this is a jam, not an extensively rehearsed performance. This is what musicians do for fun: take a song with a pretty simple chord structure and make stuff up together. There are at least half a dozen different guitar players on stage. They have not agreed in advance as to who is playing what part, and some of them are probably just making it up as they go along. A jam isn't supposed to be clean; it's supposed to be fun.
I prefer a jam because it brought out the best among players and singer unlike in a rehearse that the song is already been arrange as they want it to be.
Matt the Owl You are very correct. This is not a planned session
Quentin Fernandez nn
Matt the Owl wow what a song great music i just love them i could listen to this all day long these guys are awesome cant get enough of them
Sounds gooe to me!
I met Albert Lee in Venice beach CA. He was an absolute gentleman and a wonderful man. I didn’t wash my hands for a week after he shook’ em.
Hard to believe that stage had the strength to hold up all that talent without collapsing in on itself! This is a kick-ass version for sure!! Love from Albania🥰
Man, Cheryl Crow's years of singing backup sure paid off. What a natural harmony singer she is.
She was perfect, it sounded like there were 3 of her haha
The guy on the camera did a few zooms on Sheryl's smile revealing we all fall for her. Damn she's beautiful 🤩🤩🤩
Been love since Tuesday Night Music Club. ❤😂
I keep playing this over and over.. a great “pick-me-up” listening and watching a superb bunch of talented people….Vince and Sheryl work so well together in harmony 🎶..👌
Wow what an act, made Eric Clapton look like Vince Gill!
The solo jam here is so much fun, especially the Transition from Albert Lee to James Burton.......
Pure magic @2:15. It even caught V.G. & A.L. Off guard, their reaction is priceless!
mr, vince gill is the most gifted person in country music
ダサ
Is it any wonder you have been a guitar hero of mine since I first heard you with Cream at age 12 in 1967. Thank you Eric so much for a lifetime of the greatest music ever. Much respect Mr. Marky ❤
Great rendition!
Sheryl Crow, gorgeous woman and singer.
Great stuff, seeing Albert Lee and James Burton having so much fun. So much talent on that stage!
What extraordinary talent on that stage, I adore Vince Gill
Great cover of a great song. Vince & Sheryl sound good together & I love that she smiles & snaps fingers getting into the fun of music. So many artists that have been in industry forget the love of the music that got them there. Sheryl& Vince, along with Eric Clapton always smile & enjoy the gift & appreciate the fans who made them stars! I wish every performer in any field remembered who & what made them stars.
Plus sheryl is gorgeous with dimples!
Vince is one of the greatest guitarplayers I know. And I think his voice is quite similiar to Eric Clapton's from time to time.
Carefully crafted solos, great vocals and a jamming rhythm. This is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC, even better than the original record. A Clapton Solo as part of the Mo-Vince-Albert-Burton-Klugh combo and boom, we have a 'remastered' version of 'Lay Down Sally' on our hands. It can't get any better than this. Legendary showing by all.
Best version of Lay Down Sally is one of Eric in '78 Santa Monica, Civic Auditorium ...
Actually almost sounds like Cheryl joins in there as well, though that's not the biggest strongpoint, it's the two guitar parts blending live and Eric's singing
@@ppvk2610 point me to the video if there’s any.
Loving hearing this in 2023!!
Real rock 'n roll, with a real twang! Vince is good no matter the genre -- and he's a good guy, too. Crow's harmony fits nicely.
Earl Klugh is on that stage. Another legend.
When Albert kicks in its like hearing every hit country song of the 90s in one solo. Great guitarists.
I think that Albert could play anything in his sleep. He's a big ball of muscle memory.
So glad I had a chance to see him at a small outdoor venue and chat with him side stage. Humble, affable, and accommodating. A night to remember.
SixSentSoldiers 5great show
Killer !! All I got to say babbbyyyy 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻♥️🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
I saw Albert in the early 70's at UF (aka Gators) ....... Ten Years After...look em up...classic. I want to Change the World, and a few others...lol/
Vince Gill is such a class act, and to have SHERYL on stage WoW!!!
And that's how five brilliant pros can play together on stage and stay out of each other's way while adding to the music. Outstanding!
My comment exactly! They blend. And nobody is trying to be the Star.
Albert Lee always looks like he's having the best time.
Forgive me; but Buddy is the Guy 👏👏😂 saw him recently at our Bluesfest in Aus: 86 and still going soooo strong. Love that he plays with the ‘younguns’ this is great

For the people that don't know Eric and her had a thing at one time..I am not surprised she be there..But has an artist herself shes is great and this is a jam she needs to be on..
For me this the best version of this song...Vince Gill, Albert, Mo and James Burton is toooooo much.
It’s amazing what you can do with just three chords!
I personally think that the awesome bass line carries the song don't ya?
It's the instrumentation and the voices working together, three chords can be so complex. These are professionals making it look easy.
THANK YOU ERIC CLAPTON FOR SPONSORING CROSSROADS, YOUR SECOND GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT!!!
But he could change the world
Of blaming
Now that's a joy. I really enjoy these real professionals at work.
Vince Gill's voice is beyond great. what a phenomal artist
No
Peter Tuchscherer ☺️
Talented bastard
And I think Sheryl Crow complements it beautifully.
Peter Tuchscherer earl klug
Not only the band was great but the camera man was awsome as well a couple closeups of Sheryl Crowe. Thank you camera man
Wonderful! Loved it! Beaitifully done & I love the way he gives each member some shine!
Sheryl singing - back-up -
Wow - awesome sound
So much talent on that stage, it's ridiculous. What a joy to watch....and listen!
How can you not love music?
Nice surprise! I Love Vince Gill, and they really get rocking in the middle!!
Vince Gill, Can And Does Play Anything And Everything, He Plays An Excellent Guitar, And What A Beautifully Unique Voice!
I seen most of these artist at the Dallas Crossroads concert and at that show Vince Gill was ripping some incredible blues, there’s really not anything he cant play or sing…the guy is a fantastic musician….👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
What a great stage full of extremely talented guitarists
James Burton! Genius
The sheer delight on Sheryl’s face says it all.. This is what live music is all about. Fabulous!
So many legends at once. So damn cool. What an incredible ensemble.
All my favorites
Vince seemed surprised by Cheryl Crow joining on stage but without missing a beat he laid it down like only the great Vince Gill can.
Can you imagine having sheryl crow as a backup singer..... She is always and forever my favorite, even more beautiful now than ever.
They're all good, but James Burton is incredible. The stuff he comes up with is very cool.
James Burton plays all the rythm and licks between the solos. He's such a giant! On his age!
He has played with the best. The guy is a legend.
The Eagle tribute band is lucky to have Vince gill.
Wow, what a lineup on that stage.
The whole band is amazing but the harmonies can touch your soul!!!!
can you name all the members?
Just love it all the guys playing together😊1❤eric😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bravo...great band! Nice to see Cheryl looking well...! Long Tall Sally! What a joy...merci!
Long Tall Sally?? What???
My son, 18 years old at the time, made me go and see Albert Lee so I could see a decent guitar player: of course he went as well!
Vince Gill Class!
God he was gorgeous !
Alright Whip it Man !!! Whoaaa..Great my,oh my.. D ' Gud old days rhyming..😁😝🎶🎸
Played this at my wife's funeral... Her name... Sally..... It gets me every time 😢
God bless you, sir.
VINCE Gill rocks 👍
Vince Gill is without any doubt in the Top ten, and I mean every genre !! His tone and feel is just extraordinary
It's why the Eagle's asked him to tour with them.
@@StanslaMichael I did not know that. Really? The Eagle's asked him to tour with them? Did he go?
@@hetjamesfield4473 Yes and he fit like he had always been an Eagle, as well as Glen's son Deacon who sounds and looks exactly like his father. I saw them in Auckland New Zealand first night of their NZ tour. You will never hear Eagle's songs played better or sound better then in live concert. Vince and Deacon were to perform songs sung by Glenn and made it very emotional, being it was the first time they toured without Glenn.
@@StanslaMichael That must have been awesome to see live 👍 Thanks for the info 👌
Great Fantastic vince and Sheryl .master Clapton 🎼👍
How on earth could anyone dislike this, it was a great version .
the song can't help but put a smile on your face,
especially if you were there back then listening to it
on the radio.......and man it was played!
That is feeling for music, i got the shivers
I can imagine sometimes, Mr. Gill thinks, Pure Prairie League...that was 45 years ago ) Let me Love you Tonight.
Well deserved fame and recognition. That man can play that Tele. Beautiful.
VINCE AND ALBERT some serious talent here folks!
Vince Gill, Alvin Lee, James Burton & Keb Mo' on the same stage with Sheryl Crow on backup vox . . . . pretty damned cool.
Vince's Telecaster is the coolest electric guitar I've ever seen.
How could you don't like this version ? It is fantastics!!!!!Thanks to the artist !!!
Heads up. Lay Down Sally is a J.J. Cale song that Clapper covered on his 1977 Slowhand album. (I might be a year or two off.) Covering the song here is the remarkably-gifted Country guitarists Vince Gill and Albert Lee. Jeeze, theses cat scan pick!
Two of my Heroes. Vince - Albert. Simply Brilliant musicians
They come no better than these folks assembled here.
Quentin Fernandez レイシーJダルトン
+Quentin Fernandez - I wanted to say the same thing. Guess I'm late by 2010 standards! =)
Vince Gill is a great singer and a guitar player
VINCE : "Oh,Sheryl Crow,Yeah",! ):-))) .I think this version is one of the best! What rhythm of the whole band,
Everyone looks so happy playing n singing
That smile from Sheryl Crow lights up the whole place
Perfect song 💯😊👏
Vince Gill - потрясающий музыкант и прекраснейший вокалист !!! Браво !!!
The harmony vocals between vince and sheryl are so natural . Sheryl is like can I go on and vince is here's sheryl crow and the song goes to a diffent level!
there is a 3rd singer in the mix, but unfortunately invisible in the video
Holy shit, Sheryl what a beauty, and with this music its heaven.
The little riffs Burton puts in during the vocals are toooo much .. what a player.
Proper talented musicians playing proper music performed in the correct way no auto tune or fake music behind them. Just pure talent that puts this nonsense in the chart ro shame they are having a blast enjoying each other's company everyone here has a guitar solo so many different styles and the guy on the acoustic is incredible they all are a joy to watch. Keep the festivals coming Eric
Couldn't have wrote a truer comment. Absolute class musicians. Charts are a money making business for classless singers. These guys put music on the map.
I just realized the late, great Dawn Sears is singing with the band on this video. 💗
This makes the hairs stand. Such a good combination of very talented artists
1:53 thank you for the lovely closeup
Absolutely awesome from all of them.....love Albert Lee and Keb Mo
Good to see Albert Lee on guitar... I remember him from the early 70's band, "Heads, Hands, & Feet", when he tried his rock 'n roll hand at a countrified British attempt at countyr twinged rock... His brother Alvin Lee headed up the legendary 1"0 Years After"...
Earl Klugh in da House
Right at the end Albert Lee, a PRETTTY good player himself, having listened to the fills just like Elvis did, pointed at James Burton who has totally blown me and him away the ENTIRE song!!
Vince Gill is such a phenomenal musician ... you can see that all the great musicians who play with him just adore him!
Absolutly great !! Vince Gill is the Best!!!!!
Vince is often called the Country Clapton. I think they are both awesome. When musicians are obviously having fun we all win.
