Metal Casting a Chicago Bean Metal Sculpture using Molten Aluminum. 2 years ago I made one of these sculptures, and someone reached out to me asking if I could make another. it took me 3 times to make it last time.... This time it took me 4 times before I got the metal casting correct. Every time the aluminum casting had shrinkage on the one side of the metal cast.

Yeah buddy, aluminum always shrinks. Every time you pour ingots. The only good side to an aluminum ingot is the bottom side 🤣🤣

It's shrinking until it gets sold so think how it cools and solidifies, you want your work to get sold before the feeders and you main "liquid tank" to be at the centre

Thank you! It's just really weird how the time I did it 2 years ago I didn't get shrinkage. I think the only difference was I had a large sprue.
