Clearly Dr Jag is as big a fan of the brand as you are, great to see someone so enthusiastic about their work. And thanks for the video as usual!
Ahhh, that feeling as a Jag owner of reaching paradise when all your fluid leaks have been fixed, some way to go for me.
Part of Jaguar life Paul!😒
I really like your video's thanks
In 2014 I bought a 04 XJR . I owned a X type at the time but I really wanted the XJR the problem was the only one I could find in my price range was 3600 km from me. So I did the sensible thing and bought sight unseen . I flew out the next week and met the owner at the airport looked it over give him the money and started on my way. For next two and half days driving home I couldn't believe I owned such a fantastic car. It was a great adventure. One month later I picked up my new baby daughter from the hospital in the car so she gets to say the first car she got to ride in was a Jag . By the way I live in Canada so driving 3600 km is just over half way across the country.
Great story! I'm loving mine too, thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video, it was very interesting seeing the work done. I changed my own valley hoses when I had to replace my supercharger for a noisy rear bearing. The timing cover gasket job was another level entirely! Dr Jag knows his stuff. The cost for 21 hours of labour plus parts, now makes that not a cheap XJR anymore. I've got a 2008 Super V8 here in NZ. I will like and subscribe.
Hi Peter Still a cheap buy compared to others on the market. At least I know now their done. Thanks for subscribing!
A $2.5k bill I'm guessing?
@@graemecatty9921 yes if it was only the coolant hoses but he did timing cover also so a bit more
Sorry Brett... towards the end of the vid; l lost you after "pay attention" 😁
Enjoyed 🙂👌
Very entertaining video fella, it really opens your eyes how much work went into fitting the new parts, when you seen the parts on the work bench it doesn't look much but wow how much of the engine was stripped down to fit the new parts but worth the effort for peace of mind motoring excellent
Thanks Kevin!
I wish I lived near this bloke!
Tks mate. You just cured my lust for a Jag V8 :)
Trust me, its still worth it.
Good video - i've got 2019 XJ 351 3.0 diesel and have been looking for a nice XJ 350 XJR for a while but here in the UK they are usually in poor condition.
Hi Larry
Would love an x351 one day. You would have more xjrs to choose over there though
@@tjmthejagmandownunder about 15 at any one time being advertised but some are Dog rough, salt and neglect damages the paint and body - many have oxidisation spots under the paint and the alloy body takes some money to rectify.
Great Video. Any chance you can provide the part numbers for all the parts? Thinking of doing it myself.
Hi Philip
No but Dr Jag in Dural maybe able to help
Thanks for watching!
Looks terrifying. Urgh :(
Hi TJM, watching these videos with interest as recently picked up a 2003 XJR with 123000 miles on the clock. So far so good and loving it. What miles / kms is yours on now and how has it been since you had the valley pipe done? Scope for anymore videos? Cheers, Karl.
Hi Karl
An 8th month update coming soon. Mine has 300k
Thanks for watching!
I do my own work on my Saabs... but nothing prepared me for the amount of work you guys put in to get that coolant leak..! I'm considering an X350 with the Ford Duratec V6, which is better on tax and fuel where I live. I think the design has aged very well now and given that new cars are an absolute joke and look crashed such is their swoopy designy stuff, the X350 looks regal by comparison.
Thanks Luke
X350 are not that costly just do it !
I have a 2004 xjr x350.... Mines done 130k now, had it 3 years but sounds very tappety from idle hot or cold all the time, garages round here say its fine an all jags an range v8 engines are like that... Only can hear it with window down or outside car.. Was wondering if yours is like that?.. Cheers
No! Sounds strange! They should be super quiet while idling
If the original supercharger coupling has been changed from the spring type to the solid rubber one, that can cause the supercharger drive gears to sound a bit noisy at idle. Listen as you raise the revs slightly, it should go away if it is the coupler. The genuine couplers are ok in this engine as they are in oil. Problems with them arise in the later 5.0 engines as they are dry.
Cheers.. Mine the tappety noise speeds up with the revs... It drives fine and can only tell when driving with window down an when out of car
Hi Guys!
Will you give me advice please! I have an little oil leak from under the timing chain cover (XKR 2008). Mechanic says to replace timing chain cover gasket. Do I need to take out the engine or it is not necessary?
Thanks in advance!
No !
Greg shows how it is done in this video
@@tjmthejagmandownunder Hi, help with one more question please! Spare parts such as:
-supercharger intake air seal gasket;
-supercharger plate clamp to intercooler;
-intake manifold gasket
are disposable parts?!
I changed them 4 years ago (5000 kilometers)!
I beg to differ, the 4l didn't have that oil separator but in the same breath mine is 21 years old and has never leaked anything, apart from petrol money out of my pocket lol
I've owned three x308 4 litres and none leaked oil either.
So what was the cost to fix it?? come on, be up front with all the info, warts n all.
$5k AU
@@tjmthejagmandownunder that doesn’t seem to bad for all the work involved.
