That is great.. You have a ton of support, are you on FB? One of my groups is called "Jaguar XJR Lovers Page" please look us up and find me there.. An vids of your car? Tell me about it..
Greg, great, just do every step slowly and carefully and do not drop the plug on the SC, put something under it just in case you do or if you ever fill.
Mitch, I just changed the supercharger oil on the 03, Super V8 today. I don't know how you managed to get 8 oz of oil out. I only managed 7 oz. Initially, when I broke the fill plug free. some oil seeped out from the plug and hole. This prompted me to jack up the front of the car until the oil stopped seeping out. Once that happened, I removed the plug completely and started draining using a syringe with the oil kit from ebay. I evacuated 6 ounces. I dropped the front of the car and jacked up the rear and got the additional 1 oz out. To fill the charger back up, I jacked up the front of the car and replaced the 7 oz of oil. I have to state getting the plug back in is a bit of a challenge. I added 4 CCs of Motorkote to the supercharger oil. Thanks for the video.
Great job Frank. You fill until it starts to come out of the whole when the car is level. I know I could have put in abit more in but like you said, that damn drain plug was pure hell getting back on and I did not want to tackle that thing again.. I did not show in the video, but it took over 20 minutes to get it to thread correctly. It wanted to cross thread and that would have been disastrous. I seem to break thing when I try to fix things. I am going to look on your page and I hope I see a video of your car.. I am glad this video did help you. There were none I could find for a Jag..
I tried this on my 2007 XKR. No chance. I couldn't even get an allen key into the grub screw there is so little room to work. I decided to leave well alone lol.
Great Video Mitch. I wonder how few people have ever changed their supercharger oil. I would guess that once outside of the main dealer network, its very rare indeed. Keep them coming pal.
You have no idea how happy I am of you coming to visit my channel from yours on the other side of the pond and I hope you understand you are in my top 20 car Channels. WOW, I am beyond chocked you saw this.
Robin, the Supercharger oil is only boxed in the very front of the Supercharger. The oil is used only to turn the gears that turns the Supercharger which never touches any oil at all. I hope i explained this and If I did not understand your question, please ask again..I so appreciate you asking a question..
Thanks. Please tell me about the car, miles, year etc..Most important is the tensioners and all guides plus water pump if it is 98-2002. They made the corrections on the 2003 but I would still change those out. Here is my video on the tensioner replacement. ua-cam.com/video/Zu5Hw_m23BM/v-deo.html
Does this go for the 2011 Jaguar xjl also ? Because I got my car back from a shop for a tune up and oil change . And I have a loud knocking noise now !
Matt, excellent video but I have one question: how the heck do you get the fill plug out? That seems the most difficult part. There is just no room to work in the space. Using an Allen wrench takes for ever. There must be an easier way to remove this plug.
I did have issues in the beginning for sure but I just made sure i put something below in case you drop it. It should not be on very tight, just make sure not to cross thread it. Thanks for the nice words. What do you have?
@@MitchGrooms Mitch: I have a 2002 Jaguar XKR with 65,000 miles on it. Many in our Jaguars Forum have done this and it seemed simple until I tried to get the plug out using a long 3/16 Allen key. Just no room to get any leverage on it. I even bought the kit.
@@dfbender I would put tape around the Allen key and snug it tight.. Are you on Facebook? I run several car clubs, look up "Jaguar XjR Lovers Page" on Facebook.
Wow, that's a fast response. I have an 01 XKR. I looked for a video for changing SC oil last year, couldn't find anything. Looks like you made your video Literally right after I looked, ha.
@@doublebasserrazzmuss2408 I could not find one either, i think mine is the only one, if you are on FaceBook, look up my page page. facebook.com/groups/JaguarXJR/
Can this oil be consumed by the supercharge. If it should run low, what would happen. (I've had a squealing noise and loss of power develop.) Fearing the worst.
BIG thanks for keeping it succinctly short - I will definately be dabbling with my Daimler Super V8 - - old git, UK
I watched scottys video awesome to see an in depth view of that jag ended up buying an 01 XJR for myself

Thanks for the video! Love the Trans Am in the background.
thanks buddy
That motor is so clean and mint its gorgeous
Tha ks for the video. I’m having a hard time inserting the syringe into the supper charge. It goes in about 3/4” and press against something in there.
Watch and listen to what i say about that, you will hit something but you have to slowly move it around and you will finally find the opening..
Hey @Mitch
I’m going to try doing this myself too.
Car is back now and running great!!!

Main dealers don’t change it. Another sealed for life approach
@@AndyK.1 totally agree..
Thank you very much for showing us how to do it 😊😃👍
welcome
Good job, and good to highlight an important piece of maintenance.
I appreciate that so much.
Very good indeed
Mitch, I wonder if it would be advantageous to jack up the front of the car to do the draining then drop down to refill?

Good video! I've been wondering how to do it, now I know.
yhanks
Oil is pretty clean
Had to do this same job on my old 1989 Mercury Cougar XR7.
It was easy, no vids of this on a Jag, I had to do one..;-)
Great Video. Is there any aftermarket oil additives you would recommend, or is that a Bad idea?
Thanks buddy, no I would just use the oils required/ What do you have?

Actually the oil is only for the gears that turn the Supercharger and not the splines in the supercharger, explain your issue
Your belt is slipping.
Would be nice to see video on changing supercharger belt or defining if it needs one changed
Agree
Good to see ya bro long time no see
