This movie is my favorite of all time. No other like it. Plus its Julie Andrews.... like yes.
So funny, last year I won a movie critic contest and my favorite movie of all time is the exorcist and my friend was like "omg your passion for film is infectious. What's your second favorite movie?" And without a beat I said mary Poppins, she laughed at how opposite it was but when I explained she said she needed to watch mary Poppins again. Shes in love with it now

But in fact, I still don't think laugh, happiness, struggling in the reality but try to smile… is less holy. To be honest, I had a tendency to depression before, but after watching Mary Poppins-- Wow… It's really simple, but… What a special charm that I don't know how to describe it with words… It saved me. Maybe I just forgot, though there're some sufferings we really can't overcome, a spoonful of sugar still helps the medicine go down, and sometimes we can go to feed the birds or fly a kite✨…
Mary Poppins Fact Time! 1. Dick Van Dyke played not only Bert but also the senior banker and the parrot-headed umbrella. 2. Julie Andrews was pregnant when Walt Disney first proposed the idea to her. He said they could wait until after she gave birth. 3. The robin in the Spoonful of Sugar scene was the first Disney animatronic.
It was David Tomlinson aka Mr. Banks who was the voice of the parrot-headed umbrella not Dick Van Dyke.

The Bird Woman played by Jane Darwell, already part of movie history as Ma Joad from The Grapes of Wrath. It's said that Walt Disney personally picked her for the role in Mary Poppins, giving her complete VIP treatment with limousine transportation to and from the actor's retirement home she was living in at the time.

This movie practically perfect in every way. Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke are supercalifragilisticexpialidocious actors.
The number one single greatest moment in this film is the scene where Mr. Banks is walking to the bank knowing he's about to lose his job, and in his opinion, everything he has. It's not great because it's fun, it's great because it's powerful.

I watched this movie recently , I was really excited about it from the start , just the idea that it's a collaboration between Walt Disney and Julie Andrews gives me chills. I'm being honest with y'all this movie is well done in terms of its artistic and technical aspects. it was a pity that it didn't win an Oscar for best picture cuz this movie has aged sooo fine with time. but Julie Andrews got her Oscar for it and this win is what I will call top Oscar winners of all time.
I will always love this movie. Julie Andrews will forever be part of my childhood

Funfact about Feed The Birds: it was Walt Disney's favorite song in the whole movie and the composer played it when the Walt Disney monument got shown in the parks. When the composer ended, one lone bird flew under his piano. No other birds were around except that one bird.
Funfact about Dick van Dyke aka Bert: He couldnt dance and Mary Poppins was the first movie he ever danced in. AND HE KILLS IT HAH

Such a sweet list. Though I always thought the meaning behind Feed the birds made it the most special moment for me. At least to me it's a song telling you (particularly referring to George Banks who's cold and stern) to care for your loved ones and little children becuse it really doesn't take that much to show some love.

I never really appreciated this movie until I was at least a teenager. I enjoyed it as a younger child, but I never really saw the depth that this movie actually has.

I think that the kite should be number 1. It shows that the family is back together and that they don’t need Mary poppins anymore. It is heartwarming and in my opinion the best scene
Mr Banks walking to the bank to be fired is the best scene as that’s when it dawns on him, and the choir is amazing.

My favorite song is "Tuppence" (Feed the Birds) because it's the least "silly" (I was entirely too serious as a child) and it's just the perfect hint of important social issues I have always appreciated. But yeah, it's hard to pick a favorite beyond that because this movie is about perfect!

Omgggg this is a great movie happy you paid attention to it
Now I want to go watch the whole movie. It has been a long time. A lot of people don't even realize that even though he has relatively less scree time than other characters, Mr Banks is the main character. He is the one whose world has been shaken, who hits rock bottom, and then is reborn with a new outlook where he embraces his family and realizes that without them, none of the material gains he has worked so hard for have any value. Mary Poppins is merely the catalyst for this change. Anyway it has been many years since I last saw this film and I had forgotten how good it really is.

I was rather hoping the scene with George Banks strolling to the bank during the finale would get a mention. Not because Doug Walker called it his favourite bit, but with that said, I do agree with him that's it's quite a powerful moment.
