Thank you for this review. As a person who is elderly and knows how to "fix things" I'm sure I'll be happy getting out in the LIGHT SNOW and using this. You sold me!
Thank you for showing us how this works. I wasn't expecting much since it is small and electric but it impressed!
We’ve had it for years and it still works well for our snowstorms.
Gosh, it is nice to know someone else shared my views on the setup process. Thanks for sharing!
Pain in the ash
I just got the SJ615E and it's basically the same thing, except it doesn't need the extra knobs at the bottom. The thing I immediately noticed was how flimsy the plastic is on the whole thing, including the auger and the scraper, you can flex it by hand with very little pressure. I've used a shovel for several years, and definitely wore away the plastic down to the bolts holding it on, and that was a high quality snow plow type shovel with very rugged plastic. I honestly don't expect this thing to last long after having seen it in person. The scraper is likely going to wear down quickly, and then you'll basically be digging into the auger housing, but I expect the auger to crack/break long before that, because of how flimsy it is, the friction from snow/ice is going to wear it down like sand paper, and even any tiny debris in the snow is likely to cause damage to the auger. It's very lightweight, but I just don't have any confidence in its ability to do even basic snow removal. I'd imagine it'd last 1-2 seasons before it'll need to be replaced, even if you're careful with it. For $100 it might seem like a bargain, but not if it breaks fast. Also the handle bars came scratched up heavily out of the box from being folded/rubbing against itself or something in shipping. Just a cosmetic issue, but still annoying.
Thanks! I just ordered this off amazon in Canada delivered for $110.
That’s a great price.
Thanks Mike I think i will also go and get one tomorrow. Nice review
I hardly use it. It when I do, it’s handy.
I bought the same snow blower, it works excellent, the ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT THE SHOOTER comes out every 2 minutes, real pain to put it back in.
Nice honest review! Thank you!
Thanks I used it on Monday and it still works well for our needs
Did you put WD 40/on the blades?
no... but that's a fantastic idea. thanks
You can also add WD 40 to the blower so that the snow don't stick when it comes out.
On sale now for 110
Great review
thanks. it's a great little snowblower, fits in my car to make it easy to take to the inlaws.
Hey Mike,
Thanks for posting this. I'm looking at this model on Amazon and it's currently $149 so I'm thinking I should get one, but wanted to see any operational issues first and your video has helped a great deal.
So after over a month of operating yours, do you still think I should go for it?
I'm in Calgary, doesn't snow every week but it's heavy when it does.
149 CDN? that's a good deal. so far, no issues. it's not much more expensive then a shovel and speeds things up quite a bit. plus I can put it in the trunk of my car and do my in-laws drive way easy too. No issues yet
Thanks Mike, I'm going it then. You're right it's already very cheap, nothing to lose here.
I am getting a deal on market place for this model for 120$ CAD. Idk if you are still active but is it worth getting?
Is that new? I saw the new version selling for $180 the other day. I paid $160 new. I still use it. It’s great
What extension cord did you buy?
it says upper , middle, and lower part. thats them saying 3 parts lol
whoops. my bad
I wonder if the corded one is more powerful than the cordless
I would think so. Though I just did 3 driveways and it was fine. But the snow was pretty fluffy
instructions are crap, but you dont rneed them if you look at the box photo. I payed $138 at Walmart Canada, Only got it because my othert trusty electric blower gave out after 5 years. after useing the snow joe, I can say i miss my old snow blower, Dont even think about trying to pass this thing on ay sort of packed snow, Light and fluffy snow, is what this snow joe can handle. I will keep this as a back-up to my gas snow blower. For $138. i guess you get what you pay for
I have zero handyman skills :( but the main thing is that it works. Though I do agree about the dry fluffy snow only. It's useless with anything heavy.
So u need to plug it in for it to work
Yes. Much like how I need a coffee before working.
Under normal use, how long do these last?
I'm still using it now. So about 4-5 years and still going strong.
@@MikeDancy thanks! I just ordered one.
I can not start my snow Joe
Help
Are you holding down the handle then pressing the button?
Mike Dancy ...thank you, I figured out how to start it... works great!
The instructions are terrible.
There it is. I can see it here now that I'm looking at it
Lol
Instruction manuals are for the weak minded
Junk
