Back in the 1960s, there were a few PR photos with Hendrix was sitting on a Panhead chopper with an extended H-D springer. Z bars were on it too. A chromed Prussian helmet (point and all) was perched on the bars. I remember some of the wiring had chrome coiled covering. There was a group PR photo with Jimi, Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell sitting on chopped Pans -- giving the English equivalent to the universal finger salute. Those photos were from early 1968 - shortly before The Experience disbanded.
That poster is on my wall. Pretty common. The group pic is of the same shoot as the Jimi poster. He is on the same Panhead with German helmet and daisys on the bars. Jimi is giving the finger. The other guys don't look like Noel Or Mitch. They have on riding gear and I think they were the bikes actual owners. Maybe it was the Experience. Don't look like it.
Yea. This video is sadly Click Bait. It's not that bike. It was a 1964 Panhead & a lot different. This just looks like a tribute some one put together with Jimi on the tank.
@@hyperluminalreality1 It was the Experience!...the three guys were taken to the back lot of Warner Bros. studio, and photographed with the bikes, as well as being photographed as if they were cowboys!...they actually dressed up as being cowboys..., complete with horses!.The photo session was done by a guy named Ed Thrasher. Holy fuck. Someone is going to have go through all of this stuff someday and it will be probably be someone who knows nothing about bikes. Major respect to this guy, I'm just imagining the task.
Use to ride a bike like that in the 1970's. I had a 1948 EL pan 61ci. 4 sp. 26 over springer, Suicide Clutch and Jockey Shifter, high step King Queen seat..... sold it in the 90's ... wish I still had her ...
Thank you for knowing and using the proper terminology, suicide clutch and jockey shift. Pisses me off when people say suicide shifter, or call a tank shift a jockey shift. The custom bike popularity boom brought on by OCC and their BS shows created a lot of RUBs that did the scene no good.
Had one exactly like this one for 20 years except mine was a 1964 Duo-Glide with the five-gallon duel tanks. Mine had a sugar bear front springer that looked a lot like the one you have but there were many builders back then. First thing you need to do is get rid of the drum brakes otherwise get a good insurance policy. LOL Good find!
Man.....I've been trying to remember Duncan's Beemers for years! I bought some stuff from him for an old Airhead years ago and spaced on who it was. When I was there, there were a couple dozen bikes in the shop WITH all of that stuff. Super cool guy with an encyclopedic knowledge of his inventory and old BMWs.
As a Hendrix fan for the last 5 decades,I can honestly say i never heard of him riding any sort of bike, and only thing i ever saw him riding in was a Taxi....
A different springer and tank and bars to the photos of Jimi on a Panhead. So is it the the bike or just a tribute bike? That front end looks like a Sugar bear style front end.
I don't have much love for Iron heads, however the engraving and the overall vibe is almost worth the price of admission...Almost...Maybe a buy in the middle....It's a tough call but I think you made the right one.

Are you guy's coming out this year for the Virginia City chopper show? I missed this last one. I have a poster of Jimi sitting on that chopper. I could have sworn the real Panhead he was sitting on was painted black. Janis Joplin did a similar photo shoot.
There’s a pan head over on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand, an old mining town I went to on holiday and an old local guy seen me looking in the window of this old shut up shop that had about 5-7 bikes + parts in it & he told me that the pan head was Jimi Hendrix’s 😂 I just said that’s cool man and left, it was pretty funny
